The contract

"Sir, someone from the CHin company has come to discuss the contract, " the guard said as he looked at Gong drinking his tea relaxed.

"Oh tell them to enter. In 3 minutes or you're fired." Gong grabbed a newspaper and started reading.

The guard ran in a hurry as if he was being chased by a tiger. He was in fear of losing his job. After all, as a security guard, it pays too well. This household is also one of the top richest families! He arrived there within a few seconds.

After a few minutes, Gong heard footsteps. Mei's high heels were making quite some noise on the crushed gravel making it easy to know that someone is coming.

"Excuse me?" Mei An asked hesitantly.

"Yes," Gong replied without looking at the person in front of the door.

"Uhm. I'm here to discuss the contract." Mei walked towards the sofa. "May I take a sit?" She asked as she got closer to the couch.

"Sure." Gong finally put his newspaper down to look at the female.

He was shocked. She was very beautiful. Not as much as his late wife, she truly was.

"Are you... Chen Fei's daughter?"

'Daughter? Well, they always say I am. Maybe he already knows I'm their daughter-in-law and he doesn't want to hurt my feelings because of Rui. It should be ok to just say yes if not mother and father might get their feelings hurt.' Mei thought and instantly replied, "Yes, I am," with a smile.

Gong nodded and put his teacup on the small table in front of him.

"So, where is the contract?"

"Here." Mei handed over the file in her hands.

Gong checked the conditions through the file and closed it. He placed the file on the table near him.

"Hmm did you make it?"

"Yes."

"Not bad. I see your parents taught you well." Gong's face lights up with a grin.

Mei looked at him confused. 'My parents are dead since I was small.. and those who took care of me after were fakes. My so-called uncle and aunt. But my in-laws are different. They do actually treat me like their daughter and kept doing so even after Rui's death...'

Mei's face started to darken as she thought of her ex-husband's death.

"Grandpa, who's there?" Yuxuan entered the living room with a curious look on her face.

"She's... Someone from the CHin company who came to discuss the project." Gong replied with a cold tone. The sweetness in his voice has faded as soon as that woman entered the room.

Mei noticed and nod in agreement with the old man's statement.

"Nice to meet you, miss! Can I meet with your president? I would love to make a deal with you guys for acting." Yuxuan jumped beside Mei that was shocked by her enthusiastic personality.

"Uhm... I need to discuss that with the president," she said with a stiff smile.

Mei hated people who cling to others for their gains. Such as the female beside her. She stood up.

"I think I should get going." She smiled and exited the house without even waiting for Gong's reply.

"Su-" Gong was about to agree but the young woman was already gone.

As Mei walked outside, she saw her car still in front of the door. She sighed.

"Oh, God. I hope Xue'er decided to sleep with mom. If not, he will be late for school tomorrow." She checked the phone which indicated 9:30 pm.

"So you followed me until my house?" Lei smirked as he walked towards Mei with his hands in his pockets.

Mei frowned and opened her car's door.

"Come on, talk to me." Lei grabbed the door so Mei couldn't close it.

"My son won't sleep until I get home. Let me go." She kicked his hands off and closed the door fast. She drove away in a few seconds leaving Lei shocked.

"Did she just kick my hand?!" He yelled in anger. "This girl..." he sighed and walked inside his house.

To his surprise, he saw Hao Yuxuan and his grandfather in the living room. His face darkened as he walked past them.

"Lei'er!" Yuxuan rushed towards Lei but he had already gone upstairs in his room.

BAAM!-

Lei banged the door hard making a loud noise. Gong flinched as he heard the noise almost giving him a heart attack.

"Leo! Are you trying to kill me with a heart attack?!" Gong yelled loudly so the young man could hear.

No response was heard. Only silence.

The silence broke only with the ring of the home phone. Gong picked it up.

"Hello?"

"Old Xiao!" Fei said with great relief. "How did my daughter do with the contract?"

"She did great," Gong replied with great satisfaction. "I wish I had such a nice daughter. I only had a son. Alas now..." his voice lowered and got heavier as he was talking about Xiao Zhiang's death.

Fei understood and immediately cut him off.

"Yes. I'm glad to have her here. I just wish she was the happy girl I met when she was younger." Fei sighed.

"What happened?" Gong asked curiously.

"Oh don't worry. It's nothing. You should sleep. It's getting late."

"Good night, Fei."

"Good night."

They both hung up the phone.

-At Chen mansion-

Mei opened the door with her keys carefully and sneaked inside the house like a thief.

Suddenly, the lights turned on and she screamed loudly.

"Ahhh!"

"Mommy, you scary cat." Xue laughed and ran towards his mother hugged her legs.

Mei sighed and pat his hair.

"You naughty kid! Scaring your own mommy, huh?" The young mother made a pouting face.

"Oh no, mommy! Don't be mad at me. I only have you." Xue gave her his cute puppy eyes.

Her anger melted away immediately as she picked up her son.

"Time for bed."

"Mommy, you didn't eat dinner did you?" Xue asked with a glare.

"Oh gosh, I didn't. It's not like I can lie to you." Mei rolled her eyes. "Looks you're my dad and I'm the child."

"You are a child!" Xue laughed as he kissed Mei's cheek. "Your son waited, waited for you so long. He didn't even eat."

"Alright, my dear child. Let's eat together." Mei sneered and went into the kitchen to make food.

"Mommy, there's already food ready. Just heat it up." Xue said as he crawled on the chair.

"Yes, yes." Mei sighed taking orders from her son.

'He is just his dad! Ugh. Always ordering around but never doing anything! Rui, even if you're not here, your son is getting all your characters somehow. Are you perhaps sending them to him with divine power?' Mei thought and joked to herself while cooking.
