Finding "Me"

This universe is so unique. Everything in here seems so interesting. Life seems like a magic done by a creator. Beauty in nature, animals and human being, if you try to find.

It must have felt awesome stepping into this world; surrounded by all this beautiful nature, awesome sceneries, cute and fluffy animals and many more things. I don't really know, if I was really thrilled to be born. Well, obviously, I was just being born, how would I have the knowledge about what I felt.

Here begins the "Story of My Life". I, Meera, was born as a Female child in a middle class family residing in locals of state Maharashtra, in India. Almost every parent feels happy when their child is born, so did my mom and dad. My remaining family on other hand had a very different reaction to my birth. I didn't know till I got in my teens, that my paternal grandparents weren't happy with me being born as my mom and dad were. They literally started crying while mumbling things like, "what to do?! it was your first child! and it's a female child. We thought we'd get someone to continue our family line." etc. If you would ask me now, I would not be shocked the way they reacted. After all we lived in the country where there was male dominance, per say there still is.

My mom was the one to tell me my birth story. She used to begin with how because of me she had to fight with herself and the pain she was going through, so that the child, I, wouldn't be in danger. She said, she was happy to give birth to me. But when my grandma visited me she was not happy, rather she started crying, just because she wanted a Grandson and not a Granddaughter.

Well, things happen.

But, there are also some interesting memories of birth. My mum was so proud to tell me those. While she was narrating my birth story, she told me that the doctors who did the surgery were impressed by my intelligence, even when I was just being born. Even I was shocked after I heard about it and i was like "Tell me more!". She said, I wasn't crying when I was being born like other babies, rather I was hungry.. My behavior as a new born must have made some impression on that doctor. He told my parents that, when she'll grow up, she's going to be very smart and responsible. He said that I'm different from other babies and that I knew my priorities even as a newborn. Just because, I chose my hunger over crying. Seemed like a good choice to me I guess.

Life is not just a movie. I'd rather say it's the whole industry. Because, in one single life, we almost experience every single genre there is. My life is also the same, full of all genres there are. While my grandparents not being happy of my birth gave me "Sad/Depressing" genre of life; my mum being happy and accepting me, gave me "Happy and Hopeful" genre of life.

My parents were having their first born, so they definitely were excited but also scared. They had to learn things that they didn't knew before. Being responsible as a parent was one them. My mum used to tell me, that my dad was actually scared to even pick me up; because of the possibility of hurting me.

About my grandparents?! Well, It was probably hard for my grandparents to accept me; It took some time but afterwards, they did. Probably because there wasn't any other option.

The Journey of my life, has just begun and I'm excited to see what's coming next.
