Ella sat in a black void. Looking as far as the eye could see, she saw nothing but darkness. When she got up she saw a woman's silhouette strangely resembling her mothers. She saw the woman crying near a hospital bed with a boy standing by her side. Soon the man disappeared and it was only the woman left.

Suddenly the image shifted into her mother still crying near the same hospital bed but she wasn't alone. A man and a little girl stood by her. The little girl clung to the man as transparent beads fell from her eyes. Ella walked closer to them when out of nowhere a boy floated in front of her. He looked so familiar but she could barely make out the sad smile on his face. He vanished as she heard her name being called as she was brought back to reality.

"Ella are you ok?" Her mother asked with concern. They were outside in the hospitals garden taking in the sunshine and getting Ella out of the hospital bed.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I just spaced out." She said still a little dazed.

"Maybe you're tired, let's go back to your room." Her mother suggested. When they got back to Ella's room she still seemed dazed but looked like she was looking for something. "Ella are you sure you're ok?" The mother asked.

"Y-yeah, yeah. I'm fine." She said climbing into her bed. Just then the doctor came into the room.

"Excuse me Mrs Brundle can I talk to you in private for a moment?" He asked pointing to the door.

"R-right, of course." Mrs Brundle said abruptly walking towards the door. They left the room leaving Ella behind.

"Ella Brundle..." She muttered then immediately snapped out of it. Ella stood up and began looking around her room. "Otto? Otto, where are you?" She whispered not sure if her mother and doctor would be able to hear her from the other side of the room.

She crawled around the room, her heart accelerating as she thought of the possibilities. Just then she heard a voice at the top of her bed.

"Ella, what are you doing?" The voice asked. She looked up and saw Otto with blank eyes looking straight at her.

"Where were you?(!)" She whispered harshly with a worried tone.

"W-what do you mean? I was right here."

"No, you weren't. I didn't see you. I called you but you never responded." She said a little dumbfounded remembering the dream she had that morning.

"I did, I answered but you looked straight through me, then you started crawling on the floor." He said in confusion.

"I...is that...so." She said trying to register what just happened. She sat back on her bed and gave out a sigh of relief.

"You're mysteriously slow today." He said then floated towards the door peeking through to see Mrs Brundle and the doctor. "By the way, you seem to know your own surname now. Nice to officially meet you, Miss Ella Brundle." He said teasingly.

"Don't joke around right now please." She said firmly still thinking over what happened. Then Otto immediately pulled back and floated back to her side. Just when he did the door opened and the doctor and her mother came back. Her mother walked up to her and held her hand firmly. Ella looked at both of them with perplexed eyes, unsure of what they were thinking.
