The following week flew by in a blur for Asher, his sister had him so busy running errands for school, having the tailor come to the house to finish tailoring his uniforms, and keeping him so busy in general that he didn't have time to breathe. Xavier got a new computer, tablet for note taking during classes, and a whole bunch of stuff that was needed to furnish his future dorm room.
The servants were the ones that handled most of the packing, except for the personal items that Asher was taking. While his sister had been sending him on errands, he took the time to update his wardrobe to his new aesthetic that had managed to enthrall him since his memories returned. Scenes of smoky clubs, body vibrating with a heavy base, as people dressed in risque clothing ground against one another on the dance floor.
Also since Asher had finally presented with his first heat, there was a need for him to buy suppressors. Suppressors were a small mechanism that rested slightly below the base of the skull, on the back of the neck where the scent glands were. It muted an Omega's scent and greatly reduced the chances of assault or unwanted bonding. Accessories were also sold for the suppressors, that ranged from small decorative cloth covers to gem encrusted gold. I would need to wear one when I wasn't home, or at school when I wasn't in my dorm room.
Another layer that could be considered overkill in Asher's mind was something Aislinn had basically forced him to buy. Those would be collars, which would sit below the suppressor, to straight up prevent anyone from biting even near the scent gland. So Asher had taken it upon himself to buy several expensive wyvern leather collars, although they were marketed as chokers which made Asher laugh.
Asher honestly wasn't as bothered by the collars as it fit the new style he was starting to enjoy. However, the scent suppressors pissed him off. What was wrong with society? Omega's were the only ones who were forced to wear scent suppressors. Alpha's didn't need to, and they were the ones who often used their pheromones to force others to submit to their will. Be the Alpha, Beta, or Omega, and the scent suppressor did nothing for an Omega's reaction to an Alpha's pheromones. Although for Asher it took either a superior or extremely dominant Alpha to use pheromones on him, for him to respond to it. Being an extremely dominant Omega at least had some perks, not to say that he wasn't affected by Alpha pheromones, just the weaker an Alpha's traits were to his, it made them easier to resist.
Asher felt bad for weaker Omega's out there, especially the recessive Omega's who barely had pheromones themselves, but were extremely sensitive to all Alpha's whose traits were stronger than theirs. Basically all Omega's were blamed for their own assaults if they weren't wearing a suppressor. It was really fucked up, all because Alpha's basically ruled every single country out there. 'Because obviously it's an Omega's fault that their pheromones drug Alpha's. Cause they can totally control biology with sheer will', Asher thought these things as he browsed the magazine in front of him with the newest suppressor fashions.
Asher had one more week before it was Freshman move in day, thankfully Aislinn hadn't said anything to him about representing the Imperial family since his accident. After finishing his magazine, Asher stretched his entire body on his bed arching his back with a groan of relief. A knock on the door had him calling out, his upper body was hanging upside down on the bed. "Come in."
The door opened a showed on of the many secretaries that ran around doing Aislinn's bidding as the Duke.
"Lady Asher, the Grand Duke is asking for you." The beta man bowed slightly in front of Asher.
"Well guess the whole world knows about my presentation." Asher said frustrated that he hadn't said a word to anyone. He was no longer Young Master Asher, he presented as Omega, so naturally he would taken on the more feminine title. As was noble tradition, it's why his sister Aislinn was Grand Duke, instead of Grand Duchess, that title belong to the poor soul who would end up marrying his sister. The secretary flinched at Asher's tone.
"Shall we go Lady Asher?" The man bowed even lower.
"Let me finish getting ready, shut the door, I will let you know when I am done." Asher said with exasperation.
Standing in front of the mirror, Asher found himself appreciating the good looks he was born with in this life. Today he wore a tight pair of black jeans, with a crop top band tee, and a pair boots. He looked over the various accessories on his dressing table. Pursing his lips he decided to choose sapphires as his theme for the day. He clipped a sapphire surrounded by light blue diamonds onto his suppressor, then added a wyvern leather collar covered in crushed black velvet and a line six small sapphires in the front.
Asher proceeded to grab a pair of shiny black metal, 14 gauge, hoop earrings. The ball for the hoop was made of a deep blue sapphire that almost looked black. Putting them in his ears, he looked over more of his jewelry, a hematite bracelet went on the left wrist to absorb negative magic, then an amethyst encrusted leather bracelet that was about 3 inches wide clicked onto his right. This was the last gift he had ever received from his parents. All he knew was that this bracelet could throw up a magic shield if his lift was ever endangered. In fact doctors had said it was this bracelet that saved his life in the accident his parents died in.
Asher adjusted his hair as he took one final look in the mirror. His outfit was complete, and while he may look messy to others, he had meticulously chosen everything he wore. A smile curved over his lips as he looked like he'd just stepped out of some sort of goth punk club, his hair even resembled something a cool senpai from an anime would look. The bangs longer than the sides and the back cut in long layers. With one last look at himself, he opened the door to look at the secretary.
"Lead the way" I said to him. The secretary bowed again and led the way to Aislinn's office. Although Asher really didn't need a guide to his sisters office, it was protocol when one was summoned that the return with the person they sent. Decorum, rules, and societal structure was completely exhausting. Having arrived after a short walk, Asher stood before the door to the office of the Grand Duke. Two guards stood outside of the door, due to his sister's status she was able to have a small private army of about 20 soldiers. Asher had always called them meat heads.
With two knocks, the door swung open to reveal Aislinn sitting behind her desk scribbling on paperwork. Her secretaries ran around in and out of the various connecting rooms doing Gods knows what. Asher always thought they were just making themselves look busy for Aislinn.
"How are you feeling?" She said as she stood up. Asher walked over to her and let her wrap her arms around him, locking him in a firm embrace. Her hugs always made him feel so warm and safe.
"Good. I'm fully back to normal. So maybe you'll let me out into the city before I have to leave?" Asher said, tinging his voice with hope. She laughed at Asher and hooking her arm in his she led him to the small round tea table. Aislinn's head butler Aldric began serving tea. Asher was more of a hot chocolate fan really, it was a good thing that Aldric was aware of his preferences as a cup of hot cocoa was placed at his spot of the table. Aldric pulled out Aislinn's chair while a maid assisted Asher into his.
"Well your wish will come true tonight. However, I don't think you'll be happy about the situation." Aislinn said in response to the slight pleading tone from her brother.
"Oh?"
"Well..." She began "You and I have been summoned to spend the evening with Crown Prince and Princess." At those words a groan escaped his lips. The Crown Prince was the only child of the current King and Consort, and even though his mother was a male Omega just like Asher, the Crown Prince Julian was a dick. He is not one of those assholes with a heart of gold, he was an arrogant bully that teased and tormented Asher relentlessly as a child. He liked to use his pheromones against him, because even as a young child the Crown Princess pheromones were superior to his. Although Julian's pheromones were not as superior as Aislinn's which cause a grin to form over Asher's lips. Ever since the two were young he lorded his status over Asher and swore he'd force him to be his mate one day. Asher often told him it was gross to marry a cousin, but Julian always ignored him. However, thankfully Julian's parents had arranged an Elven Omega Princess for him to marry and mate so hopefully he would stop recklessly pursuing Asher.
Thinking about the amount of bullying that Asher had received from Julian, not to mention the lifetime of bullying in his last life, Asher suddenly felt his guy fill with guilt. He thought about the number of other people who were lower status than him, that Asher had bullied too.
"Ugh do I have to?" He said with a slight whine in his voice.
"I know you aren't fond of Prince Julian, but it is a must that you meet with them this evening. There are things that need to be discussed. You are the highest ranking noble that will be at the Academy, so you need to talk to him about what to do." Aislinn's voice was soft as she tucked an errant hair behind his left ear. She kissed Asher's forehead and reached for her tea cup, taking a sip. Scrunching his face in displeasure Asher gave an overly dramatic sigh.
"Fiiiine"
Aislinn gave a gentle smile as Asher picked up his own cup taking a sip.
"Since we have a moment do you have any questions?" With that question they had a light chat about the Royal Academy. Discussing the history and what Asher's role will be, however we didn't go too in-depth about it. After about half and hour Aislinn sighed
"I need to get back to work." Asher stood up and nodded in response.
"I'll meet you at the restaurant. I want to do some shopping before I leave next week." Aislinn nodded absently to his words, returning to sit at her desk. She waved Asher off, and he exited her office with a sigh. Asher stood outside her office debating what he was gonna do, he decided to grab the keys to the SUV, from the hook on the wall, and raced down the stairs to the garage.
Stepping into the enormous garage it looked like something from a movie, with cars of various types lined up one right after another. Sighing with pleasure, Asher let his hand run lightly over Aislinn's favorite canary yellow sports car. It was a joint project between the Elven and Dwarven Kingdom's, there were only a thousand made and it was one of his sisters prized possessions. 'One day' Asher thought 'I'll get behind the wheel and feel the power of this engine under me.' Until then, with a look of longing Asher left the perfect car to head towards his very sturdy, Dwarven made SUV. Aislinn demanded that he get the safest car on the market, because she'd be damned if something happened to her precious little brother. Asher got in and drove off towards the city center.
"Onto my shopping spree!"
=======================================================
Aislinn stood by the window, watching as her little brother drove off towards the city. He had the moon roof open, and she could see his hair fluttering in the wind. It brought only a slight smile to her face, but she really wasn't sure what to make of all the changes that had been happening with her brother.
Her bodyguard and personal assistant Droplet approached her side, watching with her as the car drove out of sight. Aislinn let out a sigh, she hadn't even realized she was holding her breath. Droplet quirked an eyebrow at her but didn't say anything about it.
"I don't know what the hell is going on with him. Did you see those piercings? How his hair is cut? He has always kept his hair long since mom said he was most handsome with long hair." Aislinn's voice was full of concern.
"It's not that I didn't figure his heat would change him. Except...he is so different." She shook her head, turning back around to sit at her desk. Droplet set down a folder in front of her.
"Test results?" The doctor had told Aislinn that her brothers test results came back abnormal, so Aislinn had his blood and hair samples sent off to a specialized lab. Droplet nodded to her in response.
Aislinn thought back on all the odd occurences that had happened since Asher had been released from the hospital. All the expensive suits, dress slacks, shirts, and shoes had been tossed away, when Aislinn had stopped one of the servants carrying full bags of clothing, accessories, and shoes to ask what was going on the maid looked at her with a confused look.
"Lady Asher told us to give these away to people who need them, and that these things no longer brought him joy." Floored by the words her brother said, it left Aislinn reeling in confusion. However, she didn't say anything directly to Asher. Honestly she was concerned that the fact he finally had his first heat would've hit him harder. m Except he really didn't seem to be that bothered by it all. The only argument they had even had since then was about having to wear a collar.
It still made Aislinn chuckle the way he stood there, both hands on his hips telling her she's going crazy overboard. This must be his way of finally trying to accept that he was an Omega. Except why does he keep doing things that I can't even comprehend. It all started with piercing his ears and navel. Then he started to dress more revealing, the pants he got were tighter, he cut his long hair so that he had bangs longer than the rest of his hair. He often styled his hair in a way that looked like he just rolled out of bed. He began to wear jewelry regularly, when Aislinn questioned it he simply told her that it's his armor.
Shaking her head, she drew herself out of her thoughts, and tapped her forefinger on the folder in front of her. It wasn't something that she really wanted to face; in her hands she held the results of the DNA decoding and blood tests that were run while Asher was in the hospital. Asher came out as a Superior Omega, which meant not only could he become pregnant but he could get someone else pregnant. Except that wasn't the real issue here.
However, that wasn't what gave me pause, in the DNA sequencing in capital letters circled with a red pen was 'UNKNOWN GENE TYPE'. Asher had what the doctors could only assume to be an Omega only unknown gene, which was his species. However, the doctors had never seen this type before, there were no records of it existing anywhere, and Aislinn had stopped them from continuing to research it until she could piece things together.
Aislinn even got her own DNA run, and she didn't have the gene, but it showed that Asher and Aislinn were definitely full brother and sister, if only she could reach out to Astor their middle sister to see if she had it that would be great.
Except Astor is off the Gods no where, spelunking through caves and digging up ancient artifacts. She was also after some information that their Uncle had been seeking for a while. Astor was an extremely recessive Omega, so much so that she even registered as a Beta. In fact she was so recessive she has only had one heat in her entire life. She and I decided to keep her Omega status secret, as far as the Kingdom and the entire world is concerned she is nothing but a Beta. Astor and Aislinn plan to keep it that way.
Except Aislinn hadn't been able to get in contact with her for months now, which honestly wasn't that odd, I at least knew she was doing ok from the bi-monthly post card. I looked at the photo of my parents sitting on the desk, taken right before their deaths. "Mom, Dad, what is going on?"
At 22 and just graduating from the Academy, having had to take an extra year to learn more about being a Grand Duke, Aislinn came home ready to shadow her dad to take of the title of Grand Duke in following 10 years Except, their parents died in a horrible car accident. Asher was 8 and Astor was 16, both of them were in the car with their parents. Driving to pick Aislinn up from the Airship docks, as she was coming back home. Astor had told the marshals that Aislinn was waiting for them. When she saw those flashing lights stopping right in front of her that day, Aislinn knew, it was bad. Aislinn just never even imagined how bad it truly was.
It was the worst case scenario in any situation, both parents were dead, Asher was in a coma for a month following the accident, and Astor ended up with a broken arm and broken ribs. They all rapidly grew up that day. Aislinn became not only the new Grand Duke but also the parent to two kids. 'Agh if I get to caught up in the past I won't be able to focus' she thought to myself. Looking back at the paperwork she couldn't help but drop her head on the desk in frustration.
"Fuck!" She mumbled into her arms, turning her head to the side, Aislinn looked at the medical papers again. She decided not to think about it anymore today, and tossed the paperwork into the top left drawer. Aislinn looked at the next order of business. In front of her was a list of potential Omega's to marry and mate. The future Grand Duchess, there were reports on each one as well as a picture.
"UGH I'm so over today!" Aislinn cried in frustration w. She wanted to tear up every single paper in front of her. Instead she began to meticulously go through the candidates that the current Queen had sent.
Things are just beginning as you can see. I hope you enjoy this story. This is my first time putting something I've written out there for the world to see. If you like it please feel free to encourage me :)
