The Warning

“Divine! Hey” Tolu called after the storming lady.

Deep within his heart, he could not believe that he was doing this. Of the lots of them, he was the one, by all rights, who had been hurt by Divine the most.

And yet, he blew air through his ground teeth, he was the one storming after her.

“You can’t just leave like that. Come on. Stop it.”

“What do you want?” Divine roared out as she opened the diner doors. In a second, she has stepped outside. Outside the protective inside of the dinning hall which was being kept safe by the 3D gang.

Tolu sucked air through his teeth as he saw this. For a split second, his mind seemed to stall. What did he think he was doing? He could not feel any bust of power within him.

Unlike him, Divine was far better. She could easily whip out some concussions Bolts to save her ass if it came to be.

Not him.

Certainly not when he had used his third usage of his powers in the run to get resources over to the hall. He certainly was not thinking it through.

Still, his heart beat, pounding within his chest. Divine could not just leave. Regardless of how things were, they had to stick together if at all they would ever had a chance to live.

If they were ever going to be rescued by the CTI, that is. And if they were, the. What better way to survive than they all being rescued together?

After all, Divine power could really come in handy. It sure could.

With those thoughts in his heart, Tolu shook his head and pounded after her. A series of gaps exploded behind him as the people gasped at his audacity.

“Tolu, come back here!” Sam called to him but he did not answer.

Once he was outside, a flurry of boots sounded. And a second later, the door was shut behind him. Immediately, his heart skippe a beat.

And at that same moment, Divine turned back. Shock evident in her face.

“What are you doing out here?” She asked. She was just one step away from the raised platform that led to the doors of the dinning hall. Just one step away from leaving the Dining Hall in all totality.

And luckily, there was no beast in sight. At least, not yet.

“You need to rethink this through.” Tolu said, putting both hands in the air as a sigh of surrender.

“Why should I? What makes you think I would ever listen to someone like you? You know how much you disgust me?” She queried and then spat to the side.

Tolu grimaced at this. His eyelids clamped shut at the sight, his throat muscles constricting almost immediately to keep the bile from surfacing.

Just who the heck did she think she was? That she was someone special? Oh heck, he was only out her because he thought she did not need to act as brazenly as she did.

And then, she was acting to him like he was an eyesore? His insides churned, his muscles twitching as he fought the urge to run over and punch her hard.

“You need to rethink this whole thing. For real, you don’t stand as chance out here. On your own.”

“Really? And you think you can shove me that standing chance?” Divine gestured to him with a thumbs down.

“I think you would be that scared girl who had to blow down the stairs simply because she thought a monster was in the next dorm as she was.” He straightened up. “That same scared girl who attacked us blindly because she was afraid of being eaten.” Tolu said.

“Shut up!” Divine roared out to him. “Who said I was scared?”

“Ah! Did I hit a nerve there?” Tolu laughed..

“Ha ha!” She mocked laughed. “Very funny. I wonder if you would laugh when I have all your teeth removed by my own fists. Ah!” She scoffed as she rocked the ground, her feet pounding ferociously towards Tolu.

In response, Tolu bit down on his lower lip. His body willed for him to jump out of the way but he steeled it down. If he was going to do some convincing, then he better went out to face it head along.

Divine was prone to anger.

But then, she could be an asset. Not only that, he did not want to see her dying out there. When she could stay with the rest and be safe.

However seeing this sight, the sight of him not moving away even when she was only a few inches. Her fist only a touch from smashing to his nose, Divine stopped, inhaling.

“Why aren’t you running away? Are you not scared?”

“I can’t be scared when I know there are people around me who want to keep me safe.” Tolu inhaled, shutting his eyes briefly. “And even though we all don’t get along together, we all want to live and we believe that it’s best to live together in numbers than living in singles. If we had all went our way, we wouldn’t make it this far.” He added.

“Come back to the Hall.”

“I can’t.” Divine said, looking away.

“It doesn’t have to make you happy. Just stay. Just do your thing but stay.” Tolu said.

And as he said those words, the door opened, Angela sticking out her face from there.

“Are guy guys coming in or not?” She asked with a frown. “I heard whatever you two discussed and I know that is the time when things are about to get heated up. But, ha!” She laughed nervously. “PG 18!”

“Ah! Eew! Not with Tolu.” Divine scoffed, shoving him to the side.

And TGF en they all went back in.

As soon as Tolu stepped inside the hall, his eyes Searvhed the length and breadth. He was looking for Sam.

And as long as he saw him, he rushed ove to his side.

Sam sat on a table, his head against the pillar or the wall at the adjacent side. Two others were on the benches that was joined to the table. However these ones laid straight, snoring while the other one simply looked to the ceiling.

“Hey, Sam. How are you?”

“You finally came back he?” Sam said, looking a way while he folded his hands across his chest.

“Did you miss me?”

“No. I knew you would come to your senses though.” He said, exhaling. “I don’t want to lose any one here.”

“Hh eh!” Tolu scoffed. “But you let her go like that.”

“She asked for it. Besides you of all should know what it means to put up with her. She’s unbearable.”

“I heard that, SAM!” Divine roared from where she saw.

“Ah, shush.” The 3D gang shouted her down instantly.

“See? You get what I mean.” Sam exhaled and then looked down to the table. “I wish Bolanle was here. With us.” He said.

“About that, Bolanle chose to go where she was to be safe. We chose to stay with you. That is it. You didn’t trust the CTI then. And now, we are stuck with yiu.” Tolu added.

“I think they would come back for us. The CTI would come.” Sam said.

“Nah, that’s untrue. We didn’t even know when CTI took Bolanle and the others. We just knew it some time later because you had the super intuition that it was suspicious. So we delayed for a while. There is noo reason why they would come back when they know that nobody showed up.” Tolu scoffed, jumping to sit by the edge of the table.

“I had a dream today. You know that dream I had under the pavilion before we saw Angela?” Sam looked up, pulling his legs into a lotus position.

“Yes. You were going to tell me then time did not allow for it. What about it?”

“Yes, that dream. I feel like… no, it can’t be.” Sam stammered, jumping off the table ah once.

“What is happening Sam?” Tolu asked, getting off the table as well.

“Everybody listen up! I know this may sound weird but you need to give me your ears.” He called out to the students.

At this, a general stirring began to rise amongst the students. Grumpy looks, tired expressions rose up from the tables on the crowd faces as they paid attention to Sam now.

Sam walked to the center ground, the section between the adjoining halls that made out the dinning.

“I had a dream of Bolanle. I think she was trying to warn us.”

“About what?” A voice asked form the students.

“About the CTI. They are torturing people… people like us who they call Peculiars. We are something they experiment on because of this whole issue. But people die at the end of those experiments.” Sam paused, allowing that to sink in. “And today, they are coming for us.”

“That's bullshit. We know the CTI is a government Agency and so far, they be rescuing people around. Why would they want to shit like that?” Another voice called out.

“That’s what Bolanle told me. I want us to be ready for it.” Sam paced slowly. “We cannot allow ourselves to be taken by them.”

“Because you had a dream? We should refuse rescue?” Someone laughed.

A general laughter followed now as the students began to lose interest.

“No, it’s not a dream.” Sam called out.

“You said it yourself, it was a dream.” Tolu shrugged.

“We’ll, maybe it’s not! Maybe she sent me a message.”

“Oh wow!” Danielle scoffed, throwing her hands into the air. “So she has telepathy now?”

“You make iliusions.” Sam turned to her. “What makes you think Telepathy cannot exist?” He asked.

And just as he did, the sound of helicopters flying close resonated in the air. Sam froze, he had no doubts.

The CTI was here.
