Childhood Memories

Lily and Max, her twin brother were 7 years old, her oldest brother had been 11 at the time her. Their father had been gone for months attempting to hold off the Zs. Only days before their mother had gotten a saddening call, notifying her that their father was K.I.A.

With the news they were forced to move further away from the cities, they moved a small rural area with lots of farm land. Young Lily would feed and water the plants and animals on the farm. While her brothers would plow the fields and bring the produce to sell, between horsing around.

One day Lilith was at home helping her mother prepare lunch, her brothers were bringing some grain to the general store. On their way back they liked to take the long way home so they could have a bit of fun throwing rocks.

Blake threw a rock as hard as he could hurling at his younger brother, hitting his head leaving a cut on his forehead, the force making him fall over. Bake tomples to the ground laughing at his young brothers expression. The brothers stop when a rock is playfully thrown at Blake and a harsh voice intervenes.

"Haha I'm guessing you just don't mess with people your own size" A young boy with dark black hair and a mud covered face begins laughing at the site before him.

"Roy" the boy says one word allowing the boys to know who this stranger was. The boys share their names quickly then hurl a rock in the boys direction. A few hours pass before the boys remember about the lunch being cooked. Blake invites young Roy to come eat at their house, seeing how skinny he was the boy needed the food.

The boys brought Roy back to their house, chatting the whole way and occasionally playfully throwing stuff at each other. When they arrived they entered the kitchen their kind mother welcomed the strange boy and immediately gave him a bowl of soup. Upon seeing the mysterious and tall young man little Lily let out a small squeal.

Little Lilith was too shy to greet the young boy, instead she hid behind her mother's legs. She was even too afraid to look the towering figure in his eyes. Her brothers as well as the boy laughed at the little girls frightened action. That was the first time they had ever seen each other.

A few years later Lilith and Maxwell were around 9 their older brother was 13. Being a little younger the boy, Roy was about to turn 13. Lily had been getting used to the strange boy being around, sometimes she even began to enjoy it. Plus she had to accept it cause he was hanging out with her brothers all the time.

Their mother had invited Roy to stay with them about a year ago, after finding out his mother and father died when he was 9 after a vicious attack. They had been cornered the only escape was behind them, a small vent. Only the boy could fit through and he had to go on alone.

Lilith was only 12 she was at home with her mother they had been singing old songs and dancing happily. The boys where near a creek near the house trying to spear fish. Maxwell had just caught the biggest fish yet, when they heard a bang, they ignored it at first till it happened again, and again, Roy decided to go check what was going on.

Back at the house the young girl and her mother and become startled at the loud and aggressive banging coming from their back door. Their mother calmly shushed her frightened child and went to check the door.

When suddenly the door flung open and a dark figure lunged at the unsuspecting woman. Before little Lily could focus her eyes on the rotting creature it began tearing away at her mother's flesh. The young girl screamed as the creature dragged her mother out of the house before her body went limp.

Outside the house Roy witnessed the horrific scene, he raised his sharp spear and headed towards the disturbing creature. Inside, Lilith hears a thud as a body hits the ground. A dark figure then enters the doorway Lily let's out a quiet cry. Feeling relived once she she's that the person is none other than Roy.

Lily finally allowes her tears to fall as her legs give out and she falls to her knees realizing what just happened. Roy quickly rushed to her side and hugged her, without a second thought she hugged him back. In a matter on seconds her two brothers entered the room in shock after seeing their mothers body outside. They then rushed to the side of the others, embracing them.
