Fight, Flight, or Freeze: The Healer's Story

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to wake up in a body that wasn't yours? A much, much younger body? I can't say that I had ever given it much thought. That was until one night when a patient entered the ER where I was working at and shot me point blank in the head. You know, if he wanted a second opinion, all he had to do was ask. But that's besides the point... Some how, some way, I work up in a strange hospital with a woman that looked suspiciously like my mother holding my hand and crying. Over joyed to see her, it took me a few minutes to realize that I was no longer the 25 year old, successful doctor at one of the most prestigious hospitals in the world. Nope, I was a 6 year old girl that for a moment... wanted her mother. When the apocalypse comes, it is everyone for themselves. I have three choices: do I fight for what I want? Will I run away and hide, or will I freeze when the demons of my past come back to haunt me? You might know me as the Healer, but this is my story to tell. ------ Fight, Flight, or Freeze is the second novel in the Rebirth in the Apocalypse series, this time featuring the Healer: Wang Tian Mu and her men. You won't have to read the first one to be able to understand this one, and she is not going to stay a child for the whole thing. Li Dai Lu and her guys will be popping in occasionally, but this is strictly Wang Tian Mu's story! I hope you enjoy! Safe Travels

Taking Si Dong's hand to ensure he didn't get lost, I let him look out of my eyes. "They don't react to their environment," I explained to him before shoving a memory at him from when I woke up in Bin An Sha's medical room after I was first freed.

I let him feel the pounding of my heart, the terror, the need to find a small space or corner to hide. Not understanding that I was actually freed. I let him watch as Rip had to crouch down in front of me, calming me down.

Then I showed him pictures of the other women at Camp Hell… their reactions to being prisoners and not knowing what was going on. I had to wonder if he could taste the fear and desperation in the air like I could.

"They haven't once acted like a captive," grunted Si Dong, his voice sending goosebumps up and down my arms as he pulled me into his embrace.

The scene inside of my head shifted as I concentrated on the individual women.
