First mission

"Ah, you must be Emet. A pleasure young man." I looked at the tall man before me, the same radiant green skin as M'gann. Though he was bald and seemed to lack ears. A blue cape draped on his shoulders, connected with that cape two red line's crossed eachother, reminiscent of an 'X'. Along with that an form fitting dark blue suit that coverd everything below his neck save for his hands. Martian Manhunter.

Shaking the hand offerd to me I spoke.

"Likewise." Dunno why I specifically got a free handshake but I'll take it.

"So big green, the League got a mission for us?" Appearing at my side with a burst of speed, Kid Flash leaned on my shoulder for whatever reason as he stared at the larger man.

"Mission?" Exiting from the elevator Blue Beetle, Kara, Robin and M'gann stepped out onto the lobby area. The latter beaming with a smile as she took note of her uncle.

"Uncle!" She exclaimed happily as she flew into a warm embrace.

"M'gann, I hope all is well." Breaking the hug Martian Manhunter sent his niece a smile.

"It's been great uncle, I've made a few new friend's." She seemed rather exited to disclose that news as Robin and the rest approached. Superboy was still off doing who knows what and Raven is just kinda hanging in the back, I'm pretty sure she hasn't said a word since a got here.

"Greetings all, I hope all of you are acquainted." Maritan Manhunter started, scanning over our faces. "Originally the Justice League was going to offer a training exercise to your team but we deem you capable enough for an actual mission." Odd, a mission on the first day seems a little too much, no? Unless...

"Sweet!" Kid Flash exclaimed, don't know why he's exited for labour. The Justice League were probably just gonna dump some tedious crap on us.

"So what are the specifics?" Robin asked.

"Our satellites detected something around the atmosphere not long ago.." Martian started as he pulled out a cube like object, he fiddled around with it and a holographic image of the Earth sprang up. It was detailed, showcasing all the continents and whatnot. Even the stars around it as well a flickering dot that seemed to hover around Antarctica? "Until recently this unidentified object was content on keeping out of the Earth, but it's pierced the atmosphere and is fast approaching."

"Hold on, this thing could be some crazy alien right, er-no offense guys." Blue Beetle spoke while glancing at me M'gann and Kara.

"It is possible that whatever is approaching can pose a threat, yes." He confirmed. "But we are not asking for you to engage, as your first assignment you are to investigate whatever is coming to the Earth. League members will be stationed nearby so there is no need to fear." Seriously all the way in Antarctica? Am I the only one that notices the problem here.

"But where is this exactly going to land?" Kara finnally asked.

"Antarctica, more specifically the Antarctic Polar Desert. The temperature gets quite cold so I suggest you prepare beforehand, for now I bid you farewell." Giving us a nod, he simply exited the tower leaving us to prepare.

"Whoa, getting some pretty rad missions, and on our first day too, they must know how awesome we are." Kid Flash seemed exited that the Justice League was apparently going to be taking us seriously. But I couldn't help but frown slightly, the Antarctic Polar Desert was a pretty open and barren place as well as devoid of almost anything save for the animals who can withstand that low a temperature. And apparently we were suppose to investigate possible alien activity. Yep I see what's going on, and so does Robin by the looks of his expression. We shared a galnce and I just shrugged as he nodded. Neat, we just had a whole conversation by just making eye contact. Now that's teamwork. But it appears that the rest were oblivious to what this 'mission' actually was.

"So how the hell are we suppose to get to Antarctica? I mean we're all the way in Jump City Bay." Blue Beetle asked the question I wanted to, I wasn't that fast with my flying just yet. I'm sure Kid Flash would be able to get there in an instant along with Supergirl, and I guess Raven too as she has her bullshit magic and whatnot.

"Ah! I'm glad you asked, follow me everyone!" M'gann with her infinite enthusiasm spoke as she flew off the the storage bay or our garage area.

With a few shared glances we followed her. Making out way to the large area, it was mostly empty save for an...

"Is that an egg?" Blue Beetle asked slightly startled at the large sleek black and red oval shaped object that nearly took up all the space.

"Sorry, it's at rest, I'll wake it up." With a simple wave of her hand the object seemed to morph and change, its form seemed to come loose only to begin taking shape again. It took on a sleek and modern design, with a shape reminiscent of a bird or a stingray. The exterior was primarily red, with green accents and detailing around the edges. The now apperant ship featured several distinct sections. The main body of the ship was long and streamlined. And at the front of the ship, there was a large window that spanned most of the ship's length, that would offer the pilot and passengers a panoramic view of their surroundings. With another wave of the hand the ship turned its back to us, the back opening, and a door melding into a ramp for us to enter.

"Holy crap...now that's awesome!" Kid was the first to react, as he zipped around the ship so fast it looked like there were multiple of him.

"Stay whelmed Kid." Robin for the most part didn't seem to shocked at the ship, unlike the rest. Kara looked amazed too but she didn't go crazy at the sight of it like Kid Flash did, while Superboy and Raven (honestly forgot she was still here.) just stared at it blankly, edgelords I swear. Blue Beetle's reaction was also 'whelmed?'

With the reactions out of the way, M'gann gestured all of us inside. So entering I took the first seat I saw. Seatbelts seemed to grow out of it as they buckled me in, much same for the other's. Neat.

It being her ship, M'gann took the wheel, obviously. Well she didn't really take the wheel, I assume she was commanding the ship mentally or something, I dunno really.

Seemingly on someone's command the entrance before us opened, giving us way to take off. And take off we did, the ship shot off and quickly took to the sky and over the expansive sea.

We seem to be going fast as everything outside seemed like a blur. But we'll probably take some time before we reach the Antarctic Polar Desert. Still though, I do wonder what we'll be facing apparently. Considering some of the personality's in this team we'll more than likely to engage rather than investigate.

So I'll prepare, mentally atleast. So I closed my eye's and drowned out all the noise.

There I was, a black void, an endless expansion of just darkness, devoid of anything save for my thoughts.

This is something I've been working on, mental exercise if you will. Or meditation, any term work's.

This was to practise my creation of life. I wouldn't risk doing it out in the open so I'll do this. Even if M'gann read my mind now all she'd find is an endless creations that don't serve a purpose. But enough of that, now I focus.

I envisioned. Envisioned those intense flames, those crooked horns and that firery demonic apperance. I called upon my memories, memories of Ifrit stored in my mind.I tried to recall every singular detail. But memories clashed, I tried focusing on my memories that revolved around Primals. Yet they strayed too much, Garuda, Titan, Shiva, Leviathan, Ramuh, Bismark and more. Too many memories associated with the singular term 'Primal'. But still I tried to regain my focus, focus on a singular entity and then I brought it forth. I looked into my mind only to find nothing. The image of Ifrit did not appear, even when I went through the trouble of recalling the memory. I internally frowned. Not even a disfigured form of the entity, just plain nothing.

"You're straining yourself too much." A soft unfamiliar voice spoke to me.

Opening my eye's I glanced to my side where it came from. It was Raven surprisingly, though I'm not sure if anyone else heard her. The two of us were seated at the way back. So raising an eyebrow at her, I waited for her to continue.

"You're letting your thoughts wander too much." She continued, her tone remaining the same, blank yet soothing. "But that's good, you should acknowledge your thoughts and not try and sort through them." I honestly had no clue what she meant but I need to process her word's.

"You mean I should let those thoughts remain while simultaneously focusing on something singular?" She merely nodded as she turned back facing front, her own eye's closing as she hung her head low.

Suppose I could try her advice, still odd she actually spoke to me. But I guess Raven isn't all emo.

So I close my eye's and forced myself to focus again only to be interrupted by Kid Flash's loud voice.

"How about a team activity!"

"Team activity? What do you mean?" M'gann looked at her fellow red head with slight confusion.

"Yeah team activity. I mean we're a team and we barely know eachother, so how about we ask eachother some questions." Not really a terrible idea, but some of use might not want to talk. And he might bring up a sore spot with his questions.

"That's fine and all..." Robin started while looking at the speedster. "But try and avoid sensitive questions, just ask your normal hormonal teenage questions." Ah, it seems Robin was of the same mind atleast.

"C'mon, I ain't gonna ask something devious." Kid Flash spoke with a slight annoyed expression, then he turned to M'gann. "Sooo, Megan...you got a boyfriend?" Robin facepalmed at him as Blue Beetle sent him an 'are you serious' look. Crazy how expressive he can be with that helmet on.

"Well, not at the moment." M'gann answered innocently and Kid's grin seemed to grow wider.

"Niiiice, say how about after this mission, I take you out for a burger or something." He flashed another smile as M'gann tilted her head slightly before smiling herself.

"I'd love that! I've yet to try Earth's cuisine properly." If possible his smile seemed to grow wider upon hearing her word's. "Oh! I have a great idea, the whole team should come!" And then his smile turned upside down.

"Uhm-I don-"

"Kara would you like to come?" Kara perked up at M'gann's word's as she sent the Martian a hesitant nod.

"Great! How about the rest of you?" Robin gave an affirmative nod, as did Beetle. Connor didn't say much, just folded his arm's and closed his eye's. I just gave a nod, wouldn't hurt to go out a little. M'gann beamed at our affirmatives as Kid seemed down. Ah, poor guy just wanted a date.

"Yep, so great." He mutterd under his breath as I suddenly felt us descending.

"Oh, it looks like we've arrived." M'gann noted as we touched down onto the ground.

"Hm, that was alot quicker than I was expecting." Robin mutterd as we all got out of our seats. True how fast was this ship going even? Eh, best not to think about it.

All of us exited the ship as we came face to face with quite the sight.

A vast expanse of ice and snow as well as apperant harsh cold conditions, high winds, and low precipitation. The landscape was dominated by towering glaciers, ice sheets, and frozen tundras stretching out as far as the eye can see. The skies above the desert were painted with mesmerizing bright hues of blue, pink, and orange while the sun seemed to set. The icebergs and glaciers seemed to reflect these stunning colors, creating an almost breathtakingly beautiful sight.

Of course most were stuck admiring the sky, I for one was wondering why some of them aren't in the process of freezing to death. I'm looking at you Robin. He seemed to catch my look.

"Built in heaters in our suits." He spoke while gesturing to him and Kid Flash. If I could I'd look at him incredulously. That didn't make sense, the temperature here reached atleast beyond the negative degrees. Ah, I forgot. This was DC, logic hardly applied. Though I myself wasn't getting cold, I must be built different.

"So where are we suppose to look, this place is huge." Blue Beetle spoke as his eye's scanned around the vast scope of the dessert.

"Supergirl and Megan, can you two scout around from up high? See if you spot anything that could be our quarry." The two girls nodded at Robin's word's before they quickly took off in flight. Not before Kara sent me a strange look though.

"Kid Flash, you know what to do." The speedster nodded with a grin as he ran off in a burst of untraceable speed. Most likely to explore the area and see if the thing from space already landed. "That leaves us fiv-"

"I'll look on my own, I'm an odd man our here." Actually speaking a full sentence Superboy walked forward as he slightly bent his legs, then in the next instance he shot up into the air like a rocket, leaping into the air, leaving a sizable crator where he stood.

"Okay that leaves four of us, Beetle and I'll look East for any sign of whatever we're looking for. You two guard the ship. Beetle mind giving me a lift?" Robin ordered as Blue Beetle obliged, the latter gripped onto his shoulders before insect like wing's grew out of his back. With Robin in tow he took off in flight leaving me and Raven alone. Understandable really, he didn't know if I had any combat abilities and he didn't even know what Raven could so. So we got guard duty, nice.

"Well less work." I spoke with a shrug. But might as well be productive, so turning to Raven.. "Emet, a pleasure."

"Raven, likewise." She spoke, still with that impassive voice and face. Well guess I'm not one to talk. Still though I'm not usually one to start conversation, but might as well try and establish some kind of connection with Raven. Seeing as she's the one who's gonna kick Trigon's ass.

"You're able to use magic, correct ?" That seemed to slightly get her attention, her eyebrow ever so slightly quirked up at my seemingly random question.

"Yes I can. You could tell?" I nodded as I spoke.

"My kind excel in certain kinds of magic, so it's easy to tell. Well Earths magic does differ vastly from my kind." As I spoke, I raised my hand and snapped my fingers. Aether bundled beneath us as simple but comfortable cotton chairs took shape. Raven looked almost interested now as I gestured for her to sit. She did as I followed. "My kind call in Creation Magic." I began.

"It's a really simple yet complex kind of magic that relies on a unique power source." She was probably confused on why I was telling her this, but I was getting to that point. "Any object the user imagines can easily come to life, though they must have a clear mind in order to create said object. But it's quite difficult to organize my thoughts and whatnot so I was hoping if you could give some tips on the matter. You seemed pretty knowledgeable on the trip here." Seeing as she is a fellow mage so to speak, she should be able to almost relate to my plight.

Though as I was now, inanimate objects were a cakewalk, I was confident I could still easily create them even while in certain kinds of situations. I mostly wanted her meditation advice so I could better construct living thing's mentally and eventually in reality.

"I see..." Still with the expressionless face she seemed to mull over the information. "I would suggest not to keep your thoughts locked up." I looked at her with slight confusion as I waited for her to continue. "You should express whatever is in your mind, don't lock away your thoughts. You'll get everything out of your system, so to speak. It'll help you focus more. Try painting." Her suggestion left me slightly confused but I quickly noted the usefulness of said suggestion.

I shouldn't bundle up my thoughts too much, it gets harder to concentrate, true. Every time I try to fully imagine a Primal mentally I miss certain aspects of them. But maybe I could draw a picture. Or paint a picture. I wouldn't keep my thoughts huddled up, I'd express them. That way they might come out more clearly. Yes, that could work. Once I paint it, it'll be ingrained into me. Every minute detail. Then I'll take a step closer into bringing forth a Primal. But I still have some time before I make a committed decision of which Primal to focus on. Ifrit is a top contender but he's also pretty simplistic. But then again Primals with more complex move sets would be slightly more difficult to bring forth. It should be manageable though. Something to work on.

"Thank you Raven." She gave me a curt nod as I spoke up again. "Also I'm able to create food and beverages, so hot cocoa?"

"Sure."
