A smile was all Reseda hoped to see on the little child's face. From the day she had entered into her life all she wished and prayed for her to get cured.

She was in deep thoughts when an attendant came, "Doctor, chief is calling you in his cabin."

"Ohh okay, I got it." She said with a small smile.

'I'll go after getting Annie's reports from the reception.', She thought to herself.

Her name is Reselda. Just Reselda unfortunately is an orphan but that never could stop her from fulfilling her dream and living up to her name 'Reselda' which means 'who heals'.

She had always been an outstanding student but is that ever enough. The orphanage could only help her till her high school. Later she got a scholarship from Harvard Medical School, in Massachusetts, a completely different place. She was all alone out there. She could only depend upon herself. She worked at three different places for a living. Her only support there was Dr. Ethan Everhart, her mentor and presently the COO of St. Bartholomew's Hospital and the incharge of the diagnostic team.

"Hello Natalie", she said to the receptionist

"Hey Reselda", replied she cheerfully

"Are Annie Augustine's reports ready?", 

She said, the tension visible in her voice.

"Yep they are, I was just gonna send them to you. Here you go.", She said, while handing her the papers.

"Thanks.", She thanked me with a small smile and marched towards the chief, Dr. Ethan's cabin.

She stood in front of the cabin door contemplating whether to enter before opening the report or after.

'Aghhhh let it be…', she thought and knocked at the door.

"Come in.", Resounded the voice of the Ethan from the other end

"Good morning, Ethan.", She greeted entering the cabin

"Good morning Reselda.", Greeted Ethan back with a smile.

Dr. Ethan Everhart had quite the complicated background. He was definitely one of the best Doctors in the country but other than that he also owned the whole Everhart Pvt. Ltd company he inherited from his father. Even though he is the owner he has always been very honest and clear that the one who handles it, is his wife Caroline Everhart and now even his son, Raylen Everhart.

"So Reselda I wanted you here to know the updates on your VSD patient.(ventricular septal defect – a congenital heart disease where the patient has a hole in their heart)", he asked

"Yes I just got the reports but couldn't open it yet.", She said

"You were nervous. Right?", He contemplated

"Yes I thought it'd be better if I read in your presence.", She said

Ethan nodded, directing to open and read

"The severe systolic dysfunction is normal...

Ohhhhh my God!!!!!!!!", She squealed with happiness.

And Ethan chuckled looking at her.

"She is absolutely fine and can be discharged after 4 to 5 days.", She was more than happy

Why wouldn't she be after all? It was her first Major surgery which she had led.

And the case made her reminisce about her past in a way, since the girl is an adopted child but her foster parents loved endlessly.

"Why don't you come back after giving this news to the child and her family?", Ethan suggested, knowing that she was dying to run and tell them about the amazing lot of information.

"Yess thank you….. I'll be right back.", She said in a single breath

Ethan gave out a small laughter looking at her excitement.

She was just gonna get out when she ran back and side hugged Ethan

"THANK YOU so much.", And ran out of the cabin leaving the proud Ethan behind

Reselda and Ethan had a beautiful bond not just of a mentor and a mentee but also did she always give Ethan the empty spot of her father to him.

To which Ethan accepted happily since Reselda always made him remember his dead daughter.

His whole family loved her and considered her as their own.

"Mr. Augustine!!!", She called out the mother of Annie panting due the long marathon she just ran.

"Ohh Jesus!!!! Are you alright?", She asked, worried

"Yes I am but you better sit down cuz you're gonna fall once I tell you this piece of news.", She said making her sit on the bench near

"Ohh okay, what is the news. Is my baby alright??!??", She asked Panicking

"Yessss she is. In fact more than alright. She has cured completely and can be discharged within 4 to 5 days.", She said cheerfully.

"WHaTtt!!!!! Really.. oh my god!!!!", She said breaking down into tears

Reselda knew it was happy tears and didn't interrupt her. She asked her who she wanted to give Annie the information to which she replied that she herself would like to. Because she wants to see the beautiful smile of her little fairy.

Reselda was now back again into Ethan's cabin and shared the reaction of the mother.

"Reselda while you were leaving why did you thank me again?", He asked at last

"Because without the knowledge and skills you taught me I wouldn't have been able to do anything. Simply nothing ", she said with a smile

Ethan could not say anything. He was too proud of his student. He was overwhelmed.

"Okay so now tell me honestly, was my teaching the only thing that helped you succeed in the operation?", he asked

"Well I'd say it's a no. What I mean is that Annie and her mother were a greater reason for the success.

Before the surgery when I met Annie's mother….

Flashback starts…(just before the surgery)

"Ma'am don't worry I'll bring her back to you in the best way , where she'd be able to run around like all her friends freely, not losing her breath .", She told her mother, patting her shoulder trying to ease her tension ignoring her own nervousness and shaky hands.

Mrs Augustine held her hands in hers and said," I trust you doctor, I know neither of you would lose hope."

At this Reselda's hands were no longer shaking. She was determined 

Flashback ends.....

"All the while it felt to me that I really could do this.

That I wasn't just doing my duty as a doctor , but for the mother entrusted her child's life in my hands , for the angelic smile on the little girl's face .", She said while looking down with closed eyes remembering all the moments. 

" What you said is the biggest proof that you are an amazing doctor , who cares about her patients and their feelings.", He said proudly.

Reseda didn't know how to respond to this so just gave a small smile.

Ethan was going to something else but was interrupted by a call.

After the call ended he said," Let's quickly wrap up the discussion, there's an emergency meeting ahead.''

After discussing all her patients and their situations she left his cabin to upon her other patients.

It was 9 PM when Reselda reached her apartment.

She was just gonna open the door when someone blindfolded her.

She panicked a little at first but then relaxed when the very familiar smell of perfume hit her nostrils.

"Ms. Daphne Diakos, would you kindly remove these folds off my eyes", she said in an extremely sweet voice.

"Whyyyyyy!!!!!", she said while removing the folds, groaning.

Reselda broke into laughter as soon as she heard her groan.

"How do you always get to know that it's me? "She asked with puffed cheeks

"Your million dollar perfume says it all.", Reselda said playfully flicking her forehead.

"Owwwww",she said rubbing her head

"Come on let's get in.", Reselda said while dragging her along.

As soon as Reselda got in, jumped on the sofa. She was immensely tired today running around and then diagnosing 6 patients is very exhausting for sure.

"Heyy Reselda, I'm hungry.", Daphne said while patting her stomach.

Reselda laughed at the cute gesture

"Okay ummm do one thing, boil the waiter 3 cups for 5 to 7 minutes and chop some tomatoes and onions, I'll take a quick shower and be back.", she said giving her instructions.

Daphne was the only daughter of an elite family. They had met one another in Massachusetts. She is a fashion designer and her family business is known for their clothing and jewellery. In London they are  5 of the companies. Daphne wanted to create her name with her own capabilities and not on the basis of her family name.

"Alright I'll do that. You go and take a relaxing shower, you've earned it.", she said with a bright smile.

"Thanks Daph.", Reselda smiled and went to her room.

She had a long 15 minutes shower. She jumped into her night dress and went into the kitchen and tied an apron around her waist.

She saw the pasta was already being put into the water that she had asked to be boiled and tomatoes and onions too finely chopped.

She thought to herself, ' She indeed does know me very well.'

She quickly made the pasta within half an hour.

They gobbled up the food happily and hungrily.

"Kay then good night.", Reseda said after deciding to go and resign to the bed 

" Heyyy I hope you remember that we'll go shopping tomorrow .", She said with full of hope that her friend remembers 

" Yep I'll reach there at 12 .", She said, showing a thumbs up.

Next day:

In the hospital....

"Sir I'll be leaving early today ." , Reselda said informing Ethan.

" Well yes you can , there's anyway nothing much to do today , but where are you going?'' , he asked

"Well I promised to go with Daphne for shopping, so yea.. " , she said.

" Ohhhh then have a good day ahead ." He said 

In the shopping mall…..

"Heyyy, Reselda over here!!!!" She heard Daphne's voice and followed it.

"There you are !! I've been waiting for you for 30 minutes, I even texted you but when I didn't get a reply I thought you forgot", She said, pouting.

"I was working , dummy . I left as soon as I could.", Reselda said, flicking her forehead.

"Owwww that hurt .", She said, pouting again.

"Is any doctor around here please help!!", A voice erupted 

Reselda heard the cry and ran towards that direction

She saw a man holding his friend maybe.

" Ahh hello sir, I am a doctor, please move aside.", She said  politely .

"Okk Okk please treat him.", He said worriedly

She replied with a smile 

She checked his pulse .

"Ohh shit it's very low.", She said in a low voice.
