It was June 1st, Children's Day!
Although it said on the calendar that Children's day was a public holiday, the schools wouldn't give the kids the day off.
Moreover, they had to hold a special gala to celebrate the day!
"…Happy Children's Day!"
Clap, clap, clap.
The principal's speech was as tediously long as ever.
Du Bishu pursed his lips. "Dada, are you happy? I'm not happy at all."
"Me neither."
Resting his chin on his hands, Pan Da let his mind wander off as he watched the gala.
They had spent the morning sweeping the floor and had to sit there watching this gala all afternoon. The principal might have said Happy Children's Day, but he had never mentioned anything about giving them the day off.
The students could live with having to go to school on the day, but not when they had to prepare something for the gala.
