The World has come to an end! The ancient slumbering gods have awoken and brought forth a new era! They shall pick Avatars to represent their will in the new era, carrying out their directives, and shaping the world according to their desires! Noah is a young man in this new era, hoping for a bright future. When he is chosen as an Avatar by a mysterious and unknown Patron God, things begin to unravel around him. The future is uncertain, yet it is all in his hands. Can things go the way he hopes? Will everything around him crumble and fall apart? Or can he hold everything together?
The representative of the Royal Family was about to continue speaking when a sudden tremor rocked the floor beneath them all. Even the air shook, causing him to pause and brace himself.
At that same moment, the sky suddenly lit up with brilliance, and countless white lines began to appear, converging on a single distant point at the highest point of the sky. The white lines flickered incessantly, shaking and trembling, as if bearing a weight that they could not hold.
Noah looked through the window of the room that the nobles had been gathered in after the ceremony came to an end. Around him, other nobles rushed to the windows. They were only able to catch a glance at what was going on before several royal guards rushed in and ushered them to the center of the room to avoid any accidents. After all, this might be an attack on the kingdom by a neighboring enemy.
"What's happening?!" Prince Desmond stepped forward and asked a guard captain, gripping the man firmly by his forearm.
"We do not know yet, Your Highness." The guard captain shook his head and responded in a low voice, but too many eyes were focused on him after Desmond had spoken. Upon hearing that there was not yet an explanation to the ongoing events, a wave of fear ran through the young men and women gathered in the hall.
Bang!
Just then, the large doors leading to the hall swung open and a swarm of guards came in, protecting the parents of the noble children. At the front were two finely and luxuriously garbed adults. The man had sharp features and a head of blond hair, smoothly complementing his sharp golden eyes. In Noah's eyes, the man resembled something akin to a ferocious bird of prey.
On the man's side, a woman with soft, matronly features walked, holding herself well despite all the commotion around her. She radiated an aura that instantly dispelled the panic that was starting to rise among the younger generation of nobles.
"Everyone, calm down. Everything is under control." The man spoke authoritatively. He was none other than the King of the Argast Kingdom, King Henry Argast. He was a powerful Avatar, but no one except his closest confidants knew who his Patron God was. The woman was his wife, the Queen of Argast, Candice Argast.
As the adult nobles entered after the King and Queen, they hurriedly went over to the children among them. Of course, those of them who had illegitimate children did not pay too much attention to them and instead focused on their heirs and legitimate children. It was in such a situation that Noah found himself.
Rumble!
Another tremor shook the palace and the barrier in the sky suddenly flickered. Many of the lines that converged flickered and a few of them even faded entirely, revealing a space in the barrier created.
King Henry turned, his eyes flashing with a sharp blue light just before several points of light shot up from around the palace, high into the sky.
From the hole in the barrier, several dark points of light began to rapidly fall. The ones that rose up from around the royal palace quickly went to intercept them, causing a collision in mid air.
Noah gasped as the light began to fade, revealing several figures. He clearly recognized the armor of the Royal Guards of the Argast Kingdom. The points of light that had risen from around the palace faded to reveal a dozen Royal Guards. Each of them had powerful light and energy fluctuations around them, stirring the air around them violently.
On the opposite side, the dark light that fell from the sky and clashed against the Royal Guards faded away, revealing something shocking. A dozen strange beings covered in dark purple scale armor were revealed. On their heads were two pairs of horns. One pair was short and was fixed lower on their heads, protruding from their foreheads, while the second pair was fixed higher, long and twisted. On their backs, long tails were unfurled, tipped with a sharp point that looked deadly.
In the air above the royal palace, a series of clashes quickly happened as blows were exchanged between both sides. The Royal Guards gained and maintained the upper hand in the exchange, but it was clear that the fight was intense.
Glowing lines constantly rose from the city around the royal palace, releasing energy that isolated the battle in the sky, while also repairing the barrier in the sky before more hostile entities could breach it.
'What are those...?' Noah's mind struggled to grasp what he was seeing.
Ever since he transmigrated to this world, he had done a lot of research, spending countless hours reading up on knowledge of this world. But he had never come across anything that even hinted slightly at the existence of beings like these.
'Or could they be Avatars?' The only other possibility crossed his mind and Noah felt that he might have the answer to what these beings were. However, there was still the question of why they were attacking the Argast Kingdom.
King Henry, under the protection of a couple of Royal Guards, neared one of the windows of the hall. A faint curtain of golden light had covered the window, signs of a defensive barrier. King Henry's eyes held a constant blue glow as he examined the skirmish outside. His side was overwhelming the hostile forces, which was a good thing. But the strength of the hostiles was concerning.
Rumbles shook the sky at intervals, a side effect of the battle raging there. But after half an hour, everything calmed down and the hostile forces were defeated by the Royal Guards who promptly descended, returning to hidden locations around the Royal Palace.
King Henry turned around to address the crowd of nobles.
"Everything has been settled. You will all be escorted to your previous quarters to rest for now. We will address the outcome of this ceremony later."
