"Are you trying to get yourself killed?" Alina signed in a rush, her breathing ragged and panicked.
"Peasant," the queen's voice cut through the air, dripping with anger. "Why aren't you translating? What is the dunce saying?"
"Tell her I am not going to give her the jewel," Loretta signed, her hands moving with a defiant determination. "It is important to me."
"Translate!" The queen's yell made Alina flinch. She turned her gaze to her friend, who wore a look of stubborn resolve, her eyes flashing with unwavering determination. It was clear she would not back down easily. "Are you deaf?" the queen demanded.
