Chapter 5: The Culprits.

Alex's POV

"Out with it already man!" I hear Matt say, I knew he wasn't going to let go of what happened today, Matt has being my best friend since I could remember so he knows me soo well, he could easily tell that Hannah had caught my interestand it's impossible to make him think otherwise.

"So you won't let it go? " I ask Matthew, "not a chance" he repiled with a smirk. "okay, the truth is I don't know what I feel, she is really beautiful and I find her very attractive" I said and Matt laughed and shook his head, I knew he was going to make fun of me, "what's funny?" I ask him "don't get me wrong bro" he said and laughed again, is just that I am just really shocked, In my 18years of being your friend, I have never heard you say a girl is beautiful","Well that is because I never found any girl beautiful" I told him honestly and he could only laugh and I laughed with him.

What are you going to do about it? Matt said to me again, "do about what?" I asked him. He sighed and repiled "about your feelings man"," I am not even sure about what I feel, how am I to act on it? Moreover, I can't say I am in love with her when I have just met her and the only thing I know about her is her name" I told him, "alright let's give it time so we can figure out what it is you feel for Hannah"he said and I agreed.

After a few random conversations, we arrived at home, as I faced the beautiful building, I could only think about the fact that my dad is out of town, I can finally breathe, I don't hate him but anytime he is home, he has the ability to change the peaceful atmosphere of the house and it gets on my nevers.

Whenever dad is home we are always at each others throats, one will not believe that there was a time when we were once close buddies, it all started when..

"welcome back home big brother!!" I hear two voices which brings me out of my thoughts, " what have you done" myself and Matt said simultaneously, they looked at themselves guiltily, choursed "nothing" and they both ran away.

Diane and Abi!! get back here now!! Matt shouted, Diane is Matt younger sister and Abigail is my younger sister they are both 12 and are very mischievous, the last time they acted like they just did, they had caused trouble. We were on a family vacation, Matt and I shared a room and we went for a swim, by the time we were back from the swim, they had set our room on fire.

Remembering this we both ran to our rooms, luckily it wasn't on fire but we knew something was up, we decided to change out of our uniforms and freshen up before we go after the culprits.

A few minutes later, I stepped out of the bathroom after having my bath and drying my hair, I went to my closet, immediately I opened it, I felt something was missing but I couldn't place my finger on it, I wore one of my many Ash coloured sweat pants( they are really comfortable so I got a lot of them) and wore a white shirt and that was when it finally clicked.

"Abigail and Diane!!! I yelled and ran out of my room to find them, I knew there was just one place they will go hiding and that was my mom's room, I didn't bother knocking so I won't alert them, I just made my way in and I saw mom on her study desk working on something on her laptop, so I walked up to her" Good afternoon mom" I said to her and looked around her room thinking of where those culprit could be hiding, she looked at me strangely and said "is something wrong dear?" than I gave her a kiss on her forehead, I always give her a kiss on her forehead when I say hello or goodbye to her but my mind it somewhere else so it skipped my mind "sorry mom". She laughed and said "I am just wondering what bothers you that has made you forget to give your sweetheart a kiss"

"Your precious princesses are the reason I am borthered, I know they are here so where are you hiding them?" I said to her still looking around, "I wonder what they have done now?" She said smiling.

There was a knock on the door, I knew it was Matt, he just figured out what was on ground, I am sure he took that long to notice because he was on a call with Sophie,"what love does to a man" I thought and laughed.

"Come in" mom said, and as I predicted, it was Matt. "Good afternoon Mom" Matt said and looked at me" yours is missing too? " he asked and I nooded." "What's the matter boys?" Mom asked, "your princesses have taken something belonging to us" Matt answered immediately.

Mom removed her glasses, placed them on her desk and stood up, "so they took something belonging to you?" She said while walking towards her walk-in closet, opened it and said "come on out girls and return what you took from your brothers" I didn't see them try to come out "don't make me come in there" I hear mom say again then I saw the two little demons come out, they tried to run away when Matt caught them by their hands.

Before I could say anything "where is our limited edition Celina shirt?" I heard Matt say, "we are sorry" they said, that was not the question I yelled at them.

"We can explain" Diane said, we are listening Matt said "we took it became we were wanted to take some pictures with it" Abi started, I knew that wasn't all it was, "and then what happened" I asked already getting annoyed "we about to take it off when John(the butler) said food was ready and we both went to eat because we we were very hungry, we didn't notice we had spilled food on the clothes until we were done eating" Diane said very quickly, "we wanted to wash it, I promise but you both had arrived so we just took it off and hid it in our rooms" Abi added very quickly.

"We haven't even worn those clothes and there are only three of it in the world, it took a lot for us to get those clothes and you both had the guts to wear them to eat?" I said, I was about to continue speaking when mom walked up to them, pulled their ears, she warned them about taking other people things or going into other people's bedroom without their permission, she grounded them for two weeks and asked them to make sure that the clothes are washed and returned to us, she also asked them to apologise to us, an apology which we took grumpily.

"Let's go have lunch boys" she said and dragged us out of her room to the dining room in the ground floor, we said a prayer and dug into a the meal, we had Spaghetti with turkey and chocolate cake for dessert while talking about our day and random things. Thankfully Matt didn't bring up what happened with Anna, he only mentioned that we have a new student who was really pretty and he gave me a silly glance while saying it and thank goodness mom didn't notice it.

After lunch I headed for the study to do some reading, for the very first time I found it hard at focus on studying because the image of Anna kept coming to my head, after a while I was able to concentrate, after about 2hours of readings I was 5pm, I headed to Matt room to find out why he didn't come out to study today.

I pushed the door and I heard familiar voice from his phone, even if I only heard the voice for the first time today I knew who it belonged to, I walked into the room I saw Matt on a viedo call with Sophie, but it seems Anna was with her and she was telling them about something that happened with her today at school and a boy, it seems the boy takes the same class with us too.

"I thought he was just being nice at first but, I felt his gaze heavy on me multiple times, I wasn't too sure until I turned to see and our eyes met, it was embarrassing" Anna said and I heard them all laugh.

I was about to go and join the conversation to find out who it was when I heard Sophie saying goodbye to Matt and was saying something about seeing Anna to the door, I guess Anna went to vist Sophie and was about leaving.

When the call ended, I was about to sneak out of Matthew's room without his notice when.. "I know you are here, you don't need to sneak around" Matt said. O sh*t he caught me, "I wasn't sneaking around, I just came looking for you" I said while walking towards the bed, "if you say so" he said and laughed.

I was tempted to ask him the identity of the boy Anna was talking about but I don't want Matt's unending teasing, I really don't know why I am concerned about that, so I decided against asking him about it." Are you up for a game?" he asked me "sure" I repiled and he stood up to set up his PS 5 to while away time.

Anna's POV

" Bye love, I will see you tomorrow at school" I said to Sophie while pulling out from a hug, "byeeeee dear" she said as I walked back home. It's being a really long and eventful day, I didn't expect to have a very close friend on my friend day. Sophie's tastes and mindsets on things are quite similar to mine so we clicked really fast.

" Sophie's boyfriend Matt is also really nice, after our viedo call we clicked more but I could sense he was trying to know what I think about his friend, Alex, I find him handsome, totally my type but I don't want to be one of his many"fans", though I didn't tell him that he was my type so I don't seem into him, I just told him I find him cute.

I get home and mom is not back yet, so I text her and ask her what she would like to eat and when she will be back, she repiled almost immediately " I will be home in 30 to 40 minutes, no need to cook dinner I will get us take outs, what would you like to have?", o thank goodness I am too exhausted to cook I thought myself and sent her a text telling her what I would like, she repiled with "okay ma'am " with a laughing emoji and I sent an emoji back.

I took out my phone and posted the pictures I took today with Sophie. I took some chocolate biscuits and a bottle of water from the kitchen went up to my room and started munching on the while going through the Internet and replying a few texts, some of which were from Sophie and some from a few new people from school.

About 30 minutes later, I heard mom's car pull up on the drive way, I got up immediately, I was excited to tell mom all about my day. " I am home!!" I hear her say as I decended down the stairs, it seems she is in the kitchen"welcome mommy" i said while I walked towards her, I give her a hug and a kiss on her cheek "how was your day?" she asks me, it was great, I reply with a big smile on my face. "that smile on your face though, heat up the food while I go freshen up, we will talk about that smile when I get back" my mom says as she asscends the stairs, "yes ma'am" I say and burst into laughter.

My mom and I are like best of friends, I talk about everything with her even my crushes on boys, she knows the kind of boy I would like and gives me relationship advice. Though I have only being in one relationship and it was a very short one, we lasted only 3 months and I had to call it off, because of how close myself and mom are, I don't really feel lonely being the only child but my mom can be really strict sometimes.

I take out the food from the nylon bag and and placed them in the microwave to heat and took out some fruits from the fridge, rinsed them and began to slice them, we always eat fruits after dinner especially when it's not a home cooked meal.

Mom comes down while I was taking the food out of the microwave, "what should we have for breakfast tomorrow?" mom asked as she walks towards the refrigerator to get water for us and placed them on the dinning table before sitting down. "we can have pancakes" I say as I place the food on table with some cutlery and grabs two cups for the water.

I finally sit down and we say a prayer before we begin to eat, "so tell me, how was your first day at school" mom asks, "it better than I expected, I even made a friend who stays in this estate, her name is Sophie and she is sooo nice" wow that's so nice, I am glad you made a friend mom says with a smile. I tell her about everything that happened today even about Matthew and Alexander, "so you find Alex cute huh, I knew there was a reason for that smile" mom questions me with a smile, "mom!! I am not into him, he is cute I'm not gonna like but Sophie says she thinks he doesn't date humans" I say and we both laugh

Mom and I talked a lot of over dinner, she told me about her day and how nice her boss is, I did the dishes and we ate the fruits I had sliced while sitting on the sofa in the living room as we watched one of our favourite series "Being Mary Jane", we tried watching something else but we were both very tired, mom was already dozing so we called it a day and we both retired to our room to sleep.

I brushed my teeth, had my bath and got ready for bed, I checked my phone and it was about 10pm, I noticed that Sophie had added me to a group chat, I was to lazy to go over it, I put my phone down with a mental note to ask her about the group tomorrow at school.
