Lack of Research
William was doing business as usual in his office. He was solving cases on his own while always keeping up with Spade Inc trends . He would soon sit back and relax lifting his glasses and wiping his eyes. "This monitor is hurting my eyes." He would close his eyes and listen to the rain falling against the windows and out on the car hoods. The rain wasn't letting up ,this storm was going to be here for a while. Minutes passed and William reached into his vest pocket for a cigarette. It was his fourth one today, after lighting it he put the cigarette to his lips and inhaled .He felt the smoke filling up his lungs immediately making him feel at ease as he exhaled. Only to be ruined by the ringing of his desk phone.
"'it's gonna be Kendrick' he thought before picking it up by the second ring.
"Hello" William spoke with a stern tone of voice
"It's me, I want you and Phoebe in my office for a meeting in five minutes" Kendrick spoke and waited for Will to respond
"Five minutes wouldn't do, Phoebe isn't in yet" William took a puff of his cigarette
"What you didn't even check to see if she was" Kendrick sighed
The sound of heels echoing on the floor tiles and stopping in William's office door way.
Phoebe always stopped in to see William everytime she entered the
office and the same vice versa. William didn't need to check to see if she was there because he would know
"Nevermind she just got in we'll be around" William concluded and hung up.
"Willy how are you today? I hope you haven't been here all day" Phoebe leaned on the door frame and sighed "When will the rain stop?"
William looked at Phoebe noticing her normal attire had changed.
Her hair was wrapped in a satin sleeve, her skin was glowing, her nails were freshly manicured and she was wearing bright colors.
He got up from his desk and took his last puff of the cigarette before putting it out.
"You're just in time, we have a meeting with Kendrick right now. As for the rain, it'll pour all week"
He got close to Phoebe leaning down to whisper in her ear.
"You smell nice and your hair is straight. Have the Kuruga's invaded Felicity City?"
Phoebe became flustered "They are and Julie is driving me nuts!" she pushed William away and walked off towards Klien's office. "I mean sure you want mother daughter time but she also wants to do therapy sessions throughout the whole visit."
Other officers that were not diligently doing their work were being nosey watching the duo walk pass their cubicles. They would notice Phoebe's change of style.
"Well, you know she doesn't mean any harm. " William tries to reassure Phoebe "When will you tell your dad about Precinct 236?'"
"Never, he doesn't need to know." She knocked on Kendrick's office door before letting herself in.
There would be two others inside the office besides kendrick.
A female wearing a pink pinstripe suit and long brown hair stood up almost simultaneously with the guy next to her with the short blue haircut wearing a royal blue suit and vest.
"Hi! My name is Lilian Reeves!" the girl lead sticking her hand out to Phoebe
" And I am Alexander Lucus!" he does the same and they both say
"Starting today we are precinct 236's B team"
Phoebe smiles excited thinking ' Finally more detectives' Phoebe reached out her hand and shook Lilian's hand. William reached out to Alexander doing the same
"Nice to meet you Lili "
"Nice to meet Alexander "
Alexander unbuttoned his vest and locked eyes with William. Then he unbuttoned his shirt.
"What are you doing?" Phoebe asked then looked to Lili " What is he-"
"So you're the berserker of Precinct 236" Alexander cut Phoebe off and pointed to William
" Let's spar a bit, I've heard so much and can't wait to try my luck."
"Al you shouldn't do this as soon as you meet him" Lilian tried to talk him down
William sighed, becoming disappointed in the new hires. ' No one does their homework do they'
He looked Alexander up and down ready to tell him off. Kendrick was also ready to chime in until Phoebe slammed her hand on Kendrick's desk. She would look up with the biggest smile on her face.
"Of course the berserker will fight you. Please follow us to the gym where there's more space."
Phoebe stepped up and directed Alexander and Lilian out of the office.
William smirked knowing Phoebe was insulted, this wasn't the first time someone mistook Phoebe for the weak type. Kendrick would follow William out the office as he walked past the rows of cubicles he would whistle "Fights gonna happen in the gym, place your bets now. Berserker vs Newbie."
As soon as William and Kendrick stepped into the elevator with Phoebe ,Lili and Alex, the entire office came to life with enthusiasm.
"$30 bucks on the newbie!"
"$50 on the Berserker!"
Those bets continued to be shouted out as the elevator doors closed.
During the descend to the lower floor Alexander began to talk again.
"Beautiful Miss Phoebe, Your skin is lovely and your nails are long. You must do mainly paperwork right?"
Lilian smiled and chimed "Oh yeah Phoebe is a model in her spare time right? So it makes sense, her skin is glowing."
"Oh yeah that also makes Phoebe the strategist of 236. You should try her in speed chess" Alexander said to Lilian and she gave a nod.
Kendrick couldn't help but to think 'These guys are bat shit crazy'
William was irritated even if he doesn't know her abilities.He was undermining Phoebe based off her appearance. Lilian was just as clueless and that disappointed him. He then looked at
Phoebe who was pressing the elevator open button repeatedly until it did. William could practically see the steam coming off of her
'She's completely gone there's gonna be no easy way out of this'
The doors opened up to a spacious gym filled with equipment and a mat filled basketball court.
They all walked in and stood on the mat
"Alright, no broken bones" Kendrick said
"I guess the ladies can cheer us on." Alexander continued and held out his fist towards William.
Phoebe punched his fist letting her knuckles smash against Alexander's
"I'm at my limit, YOU SEXIST PIECE OF SHIT!"
Alexander was confused and startled "Why are you attacking me?" He tries to grab Phoebe's wrist and she maneuvers around his grab gripping his arm then twisting it behind his back making him flop down on the mats. He quickly retaliates "Cut it out!" and goes to try and subdue Phoebe pinning her arms to her side. He swung her around "Calm down!"
Phoebe chuckled and used her body weight to throw off Alex's balance. Tipping forward in Phoebe's favor
She throws him over her shoulder to the mats again. Phoebe's hair would fall out of its satin sleeve and unravel exposing her long straightened hair.
"You wanted to fight the berserker but all you've done is get thrown to the ground." She kicked him in his side
"You are so beaut-" Alexander panted out before Phoebe kicked him again
"You better make this entertaining for me after riling me up like this. This time I'm not holding back!"
Phoebe turned to William and Lilian
"You! Lili join his side. I'll teach you both to do your research before you Fuck with me!"
Lilian was scared, her hands shook a little when Phoebe looked her direction.
"I'm not good at hand to hand-" Lilian spoke out before Phoebe grabbed her by the hair and flung her on to the mat
"Lilian!" Alexander rushed to her but ends up being kicked back by Phoebe.
"You think I'd let you help her!"
"She has nothing to do with this!" Alex shouted
"Saying that won't stop me from killing her!" Phoebe pulled Lilian to her feet.
"Get off me stop it!" Lilian yelled
"Then fight back! Why are you even here? Who'd you sleep with! " Phoebe yelled back
William wanted to let Phoebe continue, she wasn't in the wrong. Alexander asked for this but not Lilian.
Phoebe resembled a bully, he didn't want her to regret her decisions. So he intervened, slipping his arms under Phoebe's and putting her in a headlock lifting her off the ground due to their height differences.
"Let her go, they've learned a lesson right?"
"Let go of me or I'll fight you too" Phoebe loosened her grip on Lilian letting her stumble down on the mats. Her hands now clasped around his wrist.
William kept Phoebe in the headlock as he carried her off the mats and into the elevator.
"This isn't over…" Phoebe said and gave William's hand a tap. It was her way of calling a truce with him.
