4 Visiting Olympus

Currently, Selene is bringing Eschios to Mount Olympus on her chariot.

Her idea was to let Eschios get close to the major gods, which would have them invite Eschios to their parties.

At the parties if the gods, there is always nectar, the drink which makes one immortal. If Eschios can drink the nectar now and then, he surely would live forever.

To take the first few steps of that plan, she decided to bring Eschios to Olympus at a young age.

Opposite to Selene's hopeful thoughts, her son Eschios, crouching in the chariot, was shivering harder than he ever did before.

This wasn't from his nonexisting fear of heights or just excitement, it was fear for the gods of Olympus.

"Here... We're here, Eschios."

"Ah, ok..."

"Are you ok? You're shivering... Are you perhaps cold? I'll have you wear my fur coat."

Selene, misunderstanding her son's shivering of fear for coldness, gave Eschios her fur coat made from the leather of a deer.

As Eschios saw the chariot growing closer to Mount Olympus, the grand mountain's glory made him forget about his fear for a moment. The chariot went higher and higher until it went past the clouds, and there it was.

Olympus.

Eschios' fear grew. The Greek gods-they are known well for their pathetic states of mind. They don't like how this guy looks? Curse him! There's a beautiful person? R**e them! They're envious of someone? Make their fate cruel!

"Here we are~! Temple of Olympus! Let's go meet lord Zeus first!"

"..."

As the two arrived and walked to the temple, Eschios started shivering like a pig about to be made into bacon.

Unfortunately for Eschios, they met a red-haired goddess on their way to Zeus.

"Oh, if it isn't Selene? What are you doing here?"

"Hello, lady Aphrodite."

".....!"

After he heard the goddess' name, Eschios' face went pale white. Now appeared disaster no.1 for him. Selene was talking with Aphrodite about her reasons of coming to Olympus, but his ears couldn't focus on anything they were saying.

There was no doubt in the fact that Aphrodite was the most beautiful goddess. While Eschios' mother, Selene, was beautiful, Aphrodite was more beautiful all around.

However, even though how beautiful she was, to Eschios, she was one of the disasters that could ruin his life, and she was number one on the list.

Unknowing of his fear, she smiled brightly after seeing the child Eschios.

"Oh, oh... You're Selene's son?"

"Uh, yes, lady Aphrodite. My name is E-Eschios"

Although she's smiling brightly at him now, the Greek gods usually change their minds really fast. Especially Aphrodite. Every choice he makes now adds up to his future in any way.

'Think of this as a choice-making game... Act like an innocent child...'

Making the most natural smile possible, Eschios began to compliment Aphrodite.

"My mother told me that you were the most beautiful goddess before, and I think that's true!"

"Awwwwwww~! Look at you, sweet little~! You're making me embarrassed ~! Heheheheh..."

As expected, it wasn't a bad choice to make, as she began petting him in the head with a blush on her face.

As the storm passed, Eschios didn't know. His beauty when he grew up later on, would work especially well on divine beings, such as gods…

And how one god's actions towards him would make his life much, much worse than it was...

After meeting Aphrodite, Eschios, opposite to his will, showed his face to many other gods. They all blushed or looked like they have seen something super adorable.

As he was further exposed to more gods, his fear grew stronger. Exposing himself to gods, Eschios made his way to Zeus with Selene, then bowed in respect.

"So, you are Eschios, I believe. The first son of Selene."

"It's an honor to meet you, lord Zeus. I am Eschios."

Eschios, bowing respectfully with Selene, introduced himself to Zeus.

Selene had fifty daughters between her and Endymion, and her latest child was Eschios.

Zeus had seen Selene's daughters before, and they were all unique and beautiful, so he remembered them all.

But Eschios already surpassed the beauty of mother and sisters. Zeus wondered if Eschios would be able to compete with Aphrodite in terms of beauty one day.

"I should give you a present since you came all the way here."

"Oh, no. I'm ok. The consideration is just enough for me."

Eschios' body stiffed up at the sight of Zeus. He had an aura similar to that of the other gods, but the other gods had an image of adults giving out cookies to a cute kid.

As expected of the king of gods, his aura was different in a stronger and more powerful way. The aura around Zeus was like a giant thunder, roaring his greatness to the air around him.

He could feel that just like the other gods and his mother, Zeus wasn't showing up in his complete form. If he did, Eschios would have disintegrated into ash. Thankfully, Zeus smiled warmly and said,

"You have a nice attitude. I hope to see you every now and then."

"Thank you, lord Zeus."

"Welcome to Olympus. You are welcome to come here anytime."

Eschios, still being wary, stepped away from the throne room with his mother.

After the introduction to Zeus, Eschios went with his mother to the banquet hall, where the other gods were.

As it was the feast for gods, the food was heavenly. However, Eschios couldn't eat free of his nervousness.

The gods' sights on him were increasing, so Eschios just covered himself with the clothing that Selene gave him.

When eating and drinking Ambrosia and nectar, Eschios decided something and asked Selene,

"Mother, I have something to ask of you."

"What is it, Eschios?"

Selene listened carefully, as it was the first time her son asked seriously for something.

"Please, send me to Chiron to be taught as his student."

....

After a moment of silence, Selene asked him with a shocked expression.

"Wh-WHY?!"

"Uh... To expand my knowledge."

As expected, Selene went into shock after hearing him. However, he has to convince his mother here.

To increase his knowledge, that's the excuse Eschios came up with. What Eschios really wanted was to be taught many things in order to survive alone in Ancient Greece. In the end, the only one that can protect him is himself.

He can't always live in the Temple of Selene. His sisters like him a lot, but their love feels too heavy sometimes.

Therefore, Eschios needed knowledge and skills to be independent and get out of the temple.

Also, Chiron may be a centaur and a teacher to normal humans, but he's the one that taught many great heroes of Greece. Getting taught under him as a student should be no problem.

"Could you give me a bit of time...? I need to talk with Chiron first..."

"Of course, thank you."

Convincing mother, check. That's one step to the peaceful life Eschios dreamed of.
