44. Her Final Confession (Epilogue)

A Few Months Later:

"It seems the devils are on the move" Sitting in a sombre mood is the undead overlord, the Ruler of Death and once conqueror of the New World.

"It's as you say, Lord Ainz. Its seems that this never-ending cycle of war has no close to no end. Rizevim, is on the move and Trihexa's location, is yet to be traced and Baraquel, is too, invested in the rise of the fallen Angels."

He was here, in the uppermost section of heaven, which once used to be god's working place. Sitting in his chair with sunken eyes.

"It seems like another faction, is soon on the rise" Looking outside through his window like a kingpin in an underground operation, Ainz puffed a sigh.

When did he become a real god and have these responsibilities, he still laments on the oath, forced to him. Never should he had accepted, that deal with god.

"Assign Gabriel to a new commandment and send them on a crusade, our duty now, is not to fight our Fallen brethren or even devils, the current problem is to seal Trihexa for eternity. Her awakening will start a new reckoning." Ainz said with an aura of a god.

"...Should we not consult with father?"

"No, she does not need to know, the conflict will only worry her. In a worst-case scenario, she might take drastic actions herself and that's something no one wants. Now, I will be in my chambers, if any missive arrives entertain it on my behalf."

"As you wish, Lord Ainz" With supreme regality and poise, he left the rest of the work to Michael.

"It seems father has a good eye for talent...Lord Ainz, is as every bit as he described"

Acting as he did not hear the last bit, Ainz made his emergency escape.

Entering his chambers which were equally lavish as the rest of this section of heaven, he glomped on his bed which shined with holy radiance.

Before sleeping in a holy attribute bed, might have caused small incremental damage to him for being undead but now, after god's blessing, he no longer was a wicked undead described as evil for having no holy resistance.

He, now, was a wicked undead described as evil for having holy resistance.

For a second, he thought, an imaginary 'level up' popped over his head.

This holy energy, brought comfort to his mentality, even. Burdened with work after work, made him have a placebo effect. Even though the holy resistance allows him to lay in his bed, he felt that his mind was getting damaged instead.

He imagined, a -1 over his head and thought on how many years, would it take to bring down his billion numbered health while also countering his regeneration rate.

If before, he thought the world was safe then in his new position as a temporary god, this hope was dashed. It was in a state of destruction.

The endless conflict of Angels, Fallen Angels and Devils...

The awakening of Trihexa...

God of Time, Chronos's betrayal...

and the advent of some gods to the east...

or the conflicts giving rise to irregularities on this world, some which attributed directly to him...

Within these months, Arthur too was silent, she prepared a large army and went to war with it. Alas, she met her end, still, her end was not like the past. The moment people perceived that she would, Ainz left everything as he went to her.

"So, it seems even you had reached an end," Ainz spoke looking carefully at her. There was a hole in her stomach and peaking at her status, the sheath itself was missing.

"Haha...it was fun...though. This was the one time, I was never hated and had a good time with my friends."

"Truly, so that was your true wish."

"...yes"

She was exhausted in both body and mind but still, a flickering smile adored her beautiful face.

"Again, leaving you to die like this will leave me with a bad taste. Merlin should be here at any moment. Would you like a second wind to help you?"

"Will you stop if I say, no?" Ainz smiled at her attempt, to crack a joke even at this time.

"No, I won't"

"I wanted to say this to you as I am soon to die..." Ainz wanted to say that he could heal her or even revive her if she were to die.

Like other timelines, she threw her scabbard into the river. He knew it, and so he picked it up and threw it on his inventory.

Someday, when she finally accepts herself, he would present it to her as a gift.

"...i...I love you..."

"..." He was speechless. He speculated that in her heart, she always buried hatred for him. He thought of the things that he did to her...

But again, hearing these words, from her mouth unintentionally brought tears from his eyes.

"Ha...it seems even an immortal god-like entity like you...can cry. Don't leave a dead girl hanging, what's your response..."

"I..." He thought about all the things that happened between them.

"Your wish is pure, so why do you kneel in front of me?" That's how it all started. A monster and a tormented angel first met. One was a God-like evil entity while the other was a saviour to humanity.

But it never was, the last of their encounter, soon she made her approach to him, wanting more and more, just to soothe her despair and he, the fool who gave everything for her.

He was an Overlord, the Ruler Of Death. Still, he could not stop himself from wanting to be beside her, even to point of harbouring distaste to her death.

While she cried, sorrow filled him. An unknown feeling inside of him. At one point, he never liked the frown on her face. Giving her gifts, to make her loved, to make her special.

She came empty-handed in the beginning, only wishing towards others benefit. A saviour of Britain, there was nothing that was hers and so he marked her not with the jewels of god, but with his own articles.

Making her special, hoping she would have at least something to treasure in this painful life.

The answer came to him, before anything in his life.

After all, there already was, never a reason to think.

It was stupid, it was mindless as it was insane.

A monster loving an angel but still, he was insane from the beginning...

"I, too feel the same"

"Is that so...then, I can die with...no regrets"

There was nothing holding him back anymore.

"...that is where you are wrong. How dare you, proclaim your death after making me feel like this!!"

"..."

"It was the first time in a long while I felt pain, not from any sort of damage but something indescribable. It is never-ending pain, burning me wholly..."

He poured his heart, everything inside of him.

"Why don't you hate me?!! I took everything from you..."

"..."

"Turned your knights against you, made you be monster to the world and even used you to further my gains!! So, why...why do love a monster like me..."

Ainz knelt before her in a way to seek forgiveness, for taking everything from her but again, even though the sword pierced her stomach, she still with an open hole, hugged him.

"...It was hard for both of us...I never hated you, from the...very beginning"

"...You were the first to not laugh at my dream, it was insane, breaking the shackles of time to save something, long destroyed, you still helped me...Anytime I was down, you were there to comfort me with either showing me, new magic or two...I was happy, just by being bes....ide...you. That's why I can die with no regrets..."

"Is that so." Ainz, smiled, as he hugged her passionately.

"But again, I ask who told you that you are going to die?"

"Eh..." Soon, her vision darkened ending her consciousness.

"Sleep, the next time you wake up a better place will await your new beginning" She smiled in return expecting the unexpected from this god.

"...then, I will trust you on that" and so the blissful sleep took her over.
