Chapter 40: A pond full of Red Lotus.

Hong Liu blinked as she realizes she has been caught, he didn't turn to look at it and she didn't move from the wall. She wanted to apologize but was the loss of words, what she could say that could convey her sincerity before leaving? It took her a while and few deep breaths as several thoughts of what to say run in her mind but she finally decided to come out of her hiding place and stepped down to the courtyard the bells rang with her moment. Dong Hai rest his hand lightly on the railing of the pond, titling his body away from her. Hong Liu chin was almost hitting her chest for she was looking down on her feet, she grabs her left elbow from her right hand as she stands in close to him.

"I apologise, I was wrong. I shouldn't have gone to the silver river," Her voice low with remorse, she looks slightly up to assess his reaction but he gave no indication that he was even listening to her.

Hong Liu closes her eyes and taking a deep breath gathering her courage she might never get this chance and she hoped that this will make him understand her perhaps. Her heart pounded in her chest, ruthlessly hammering against her ribs.

"I find out that you wanted to...you wanted to find a way to destroy the Goblet of Blood Fire so I went to look at it out of curiosity thinking I might able to help you...." She swallows the lump in her throat, in reply she only received a cold silence.

"Clearly, I was mistaken and I feel remorseful that I just created another trouble for you. I did it all...I did it all...." she couldn't breath and her mouth went dry, she tries to make sure to not to forget to breathe but it was like, her stomach was being twisted from inside and breath was slipping from her lungs unable to hold onto anything.

"Because...I...." She breathes, her cheeks flushed and her lips turn redder as she bit into it.

".....like you," She said firmly but looking down at her feet and she squeezed her eyes shut. Her heart pounded in her ears.

Dong Hai turn to look at her bow down figure with a blank expression, Hong Liu gathering up the courage open her eyes and look up at him.

"Is that all....?" He asked.

All the warmth turn cold in her veins as she looks at his indifferent expression and she blinked.

"Thanks for saving me again," She added without much thinking, her mind was stuck in a fog unable to understand how can he be so indifferent? And why does it hurt so much? Won't he say anything?

He nodded at her words of gratitude he passed by her in unhurried steps, walking away and tears escaped through her eyes. She slowly turns to look at him walking away. She wipes her tears away and looks at the white lotuses. Ming Zhu was right, maybe the First Lord was really just a rock beside the three realms and this lotus pond he doesn't care about anything. Fortunate Red lotus that was so close to the First Lord while she is no better than princess Zi Jie, who want his attention but even that red lotus is not here. Does he really miss it so much that he comes here just to stare at space where it uses to be? She walks close to the pond. 'I have bothered him so much and he might not return my feeling but he protected me here, saved me twice. If it meant to him so much then...' she joined her hands together, closing her eyes. Four beams of red light come from her chest and one come from her birthmark it intervenes together focusing on the centre of the pond, the beames wrapped around over and over again until all of it gather and manifested itself into a red Lotus, it was bigger and brighter vibrant it soft petals shimmered as the sun beamed down at it.

She opens her eyes and smiled softly, it was part of her spiritual power as long as she lives it won't wither away.

"I wish I could help you in your much important matters but It seems I am not capable so I am leaving this, in hopes that one day your life will be more colourful," She murmured. She felt a little peace after doing this, she turns holding a soft expression of contentment as another tear slipped from her eyes. She exits the courtyard but she didn't saw the red lotus beamed another light form it and turn every white lotus in red.
