Fate/Independence

A/N- This story focuses heavily on the Magecraft and Magic aspect of Nasuverse. This is not just summoning and being a weak human master. MC's goal is to study Magecraft and Magic to its full potential and become a stronger being and get the f*ck out of Nasuverse ***** Reincarnating is not something Cael expected, that too not in fate franchise. Then again, his life has been unpredictable even to him. Screw the heroic spirits and God-damn holy Grail that won't grant wishes anyway. For him, it's just a part of the wide world. He decided he will research magecraft and do everything for his goal. The only thing within in expectations, To Reach the Root and attain Magic. ****** This is a quick paced story and not that great in my opinion. I just wanted to explore magecraft in fate. This story is originally in my wattpad account. If you already read it there, thank you, I hope you enjoyed the story.

Ch 2

I applied to get out of the school. It's easy actually, I just had to pay the management extra money.

The next step is to leave this country and apply to get into Europe.

It is covered by me as I aced every test I would need to join Kings college in London. My grades were top of the class from childhood. And the fact that I submitted some computer language codes which should exist sometime in the future on the internet despite being a Teen. They must have investigated my background.

Flying to London, I settled myself as a prodigy in the university pursuing a computational logic degree. I'm younger than my peers but I still aced the college.

During the holidays one day, I went to Clock Tower. Not the magical association but the clock tower normal people 'see'. I'm sure this is just some magecraft making people hallucinate.

There are two ways to join the clock tower in the fate franchise.

One is to be born in a magus family.

Two, be rich and a genius enough to be recognized by the Clocktower.

As I am touring around, I was surprised to see my college professor coming my way.

"Oh! Cael, It's a surprise to see you here"

"I was certainly not expecting you, professor Martin."

He smiled which is fake, I saw that same type of smile, the smile of liars during the apocalypse.

"Haha, I still can't believe you are from Japan, Cael. You speak as if you have been raised in England."

" Thank you for your praise, professor but it seems you want to ask me something. I don't mind you asking me anything "

"You are perceptive. " He squinted his eyes and then gave me that fake smile again.

"Cael, what do you want to do in the future? With your intellect, I'm sure you'll invent some world-changing stuff like the Machine learning code you proposed. "

He put his hands behind him and turned away from me. He is... Fishy. The way he is assessing me here of all places. There is a slim chance, he might be a magus. Might as well give him a magus-worthy answer.

"My goal huh, I want to understand the logic behind everything, I'm a truth seeker. I like to know why things happened and how they happened. Maths is one way to do it, you know math can be applied to almost anything"

"Interesting, truth seeker right? But why did you use 'almost anything', isn't math supposed to be the answer to everything ?"  So, he is a magus.

"I disagree. Some things can't be explained by science. Like what and why existed before the big bang. How did it come into existence? Sorry, I'm off the tangent but you get it right? " I replied to him.

"Haha, I understand. That is indeed the right way to think. Then, what do you think happened? Is it due to some supernatural events? If it is, won't you feel disappointed being a researcher of science?"

That confirms it.

"Might be, it's not out of the realm of possibilities. If it's not science, the Supernatural is just another way of reasoning after all. The cause doesn't matter as long as the effect is useful for us, similarly, I don't care even if it is some magic BS. I just want to know why's and how's...Oh, Excuse me for being rude there professor "

"No, It's fine. I learned a lot about you today, Cael. See you later"

He didn't turn back and left. I waited for something to happen, I thought he is going to invite me somewhere but no.

He just ...left.

Shit, Have I been thinking too much? Hah~, I thought he is a magus but guess not.

I left the Clock tower feeling slightly disappointed.

The next day in the college, nothing is unusual with professor Martin. He is normal with me, it's as if he is a normal person.  I overestimated him.

To be honest, there are many associations of magus one can join.

I just want to join any mages association before I get too old. It's difficult to find them because there's not much information in the series about them. The only location I know is the clock tower.

But, I can't just go there and shout

"Hey, I am an ordinary individual who just so happened to know about the supernatural and wanted to be a magus" till some magus heard me.

They'll f*ck my brain and soul till they understand why I know about the supernatural side of the world.

I packed my bag and am about to leave when I saw the principal or is it the Vice principal? appear before me. I heard she's a big book nerd who reads books all the time. Hell, all the times I've seen her, she reads a book.

" Mr. Arsya, is it? "

"Yes, Mss. Belerona"

"It's 10 in the night. No matter how much of a prodigy you are, You should take care of your health too. What made you stay this late in the night anyway?"

"Oh, I was caught up in research. it's just Theory of everything"

"My~, you seem to have a deep interest in it if you didn't even notice the time"

Of course, I did. I want to get used to being a Magic scientist. I should know almost all the basics to learn even the slightest of magecraft.

"Oh, Theory of everything. Please sit, I would like to see your research "

She sat down and is extremely close to me. She did study my notes a little.

"I understand why you are invested in it. Anyway, It seems we are the last ones on campus. Why don't I drop you?"

"No, it's fine. I can go by walk"

"I insist."

" Okay then"

Wait why did I accept? And I felt a strong sense of compulsion suddenly. Sh*t, Dont tell me-

"Mr. Arsya. Stand up and follow me. "

I did as commanded, it's more like my body is moving on its own.

Soon, we entered the principal room which changed into a mini-workshop.

Something snapped in me, as I gained control over my body.

The principal sat down on the principal seat and began to talk.

" You can sit down and talk to me, Mr. Arsya. You wanted to ask something right?"

Don't I suppose to know what happened to me? She's talking as if she didn't control my body. Wait, the ring.

When I saw the slight glow on my finger I understood that the ring protected me. I am not supposed to know what happened before.

I sat opposite her.

"Mr. Arsya. I have an offer for you. You want to reach the truth right?"

I nodded my head, my heart is beating pretty fast. In front of my eyes is a legitimate magus, this might be my chance.

"Yes, Mrs. Belerona. But why are you asking me suddenly? And what is this offer?"

"What if I told you supernatural is real?"

I would believe of course because I'm a reincarnate myself which is not scientific at all. But I can't tell it to her face.

" I would not believe until I saw the proof"

"Understandable, then let me ask you. Where were you before talking to me?"

"In the library" I replied matter-of-factly.

"Where did I meet you?"

"In the library "

"Then, why are we here, in the principal's office?"

So, I was not supposed to know. Then, that day Mr. Martin is also just a puppet of her. She can control others with her magecraft but the victims won't be aware of it. I'm lucky to have the ring.

I put out a surprised expression.

She laughed somewhat creepily and replied

"Exactly, Mr.Arsya. You see, I'm from an organization whose goal is similar to yours. To find the truth. I can offer you a position there as a student but it is definitely not for free, there are some conditions, specifically my conditions if you want to join. You won't even hear about this offer again in your lifetime. So, what do you say?"
