Paris Holy Grail War: Day 2 (1)

Gregory looked behind him and saw that Archer was quickly catching up to him. The flames around his body turned all the rain near him into steam before they could even touch him. It also illuminated the man in the dark night.

"Shit. Karna, throw me in the river when we pass by it and lead Berserker out of town. I'll stay hidden so that Archer doesn't get a chance to snipe me. And in case they see through our plan and kill me, I command you to use your trump card to destroy this city. I refuse to allow that brat to beat me and live."

Gregory's right hand began to glow brightly before one of the command seals on it disappeared.

The white-haired Lancer nodded. After sprinting for a few more moments, the pair arrived on top of a bridge. When they did, Karna unleashed a burst of flames to block Archer's sight while Gregory also created a smoke screen using magic.

With the flames and smoke obscuring his vision, Archer slowed down in order to not get hit with a surprise attack. Because of this, he didn't see Gregory enter the water or Karna rushing around the corner.

When he passed through it all, he saw that Karna had gained considerable distance and was using his Mana Burst (Flames) to create a gap between them.

[Master. Berserker. He is heading toward the east as we planned but it won't be in the exact location. I also can't see his Master anymore since they created a diversion on the bridge.]

[Got it, Archer. Berserker, be ready to move a little when for the ambush. He most likely dropped him off in the river but continue your pursuit. Knowing those bastards from the Clock Tower, he most likely ordered a suicide attack in order to try and take me out with him if he dies.]

[Understood] both Servants responded

Archer used his own Mana Burst (Flames) to catch up to Lancer. Caught off guard by Archer's sudden increase in speed, Lancer was barely able to block his strike with his staff.

As their blows clashed, flames exploded and destroyed their surroundings but this didn't stop the two. They ran through the city and rain as they matched blow after blow.

[Master. This Berserker is unusual. His strikes are well timed and not like those of a man in a maddened state.]

[Then he may be a Berserker with some reasoning but that doesn't matter. How is his strength?]

[His physical strength is about the same level as mine and his flames are also on the same level as mine but his technique is weaker. Still, his weapon shows no signs of damage even after all of these blows.]

[Hmm. Any signs about him that may give a hint to his identity?]

[He is an Asian man. There are 6 tattoos on his body, each showing a different beast. His staff is orange and black like a tiger's skin.]

[Maybe Sun Wukong, Guan Yu, or Lu Bu. Those are the only people I can think of that have spear skills to keep up with you. But Lu Bu and Guan Yu have bladed weapons so my best guess is Sun Wukong.

Be careful of him. He can create clones from his hair and that staff can extend indefinitely. He also has an incredibly powerful defense. Lure him outside the city before burning him to cinders.]

[Roger.]

The pair clashed once more and created a massive explosion between them, pushing both in opposite directions. Karna used this chance to fly out of the city as fast as he could. Using his flames as boosters and his already high Agi, Karna was able to reach the countryside in just a few moments.

When Karna landed in the middle of a small forest, he finally noticed that he wasn't being followed.

"Tsk. Seems like you got tricked too easily for such a legendary figure, Karna."

Karna turned and saw a man walk out from behind a tree. The man was bare-chested and had red markings all over his body.

Karna tried to use Discernment of the Poor to get an idea of Berserker's character but all he got back was conflicting information.

'Both kind yet evil. Benevolent yet ruthless. Ancient but young. An anomaly.'

Karna readied his spear in preparation for Berserker's attack.

"It seems that you are confident that you can take me in close quarters like this, Archer. That is a mistake on your part."

Berserker looked confused for a moment. While he was still struggling to understand what Karna had said, Lancer used his flames as a booster and pierced through Berserker's chest in one blow.

When his spear went through Berserker's chest, Karna also felt pain in his before coughing up blood into his hand.

'What happened?' Karna thought while looking at the blood in his hand

While he was looking at the blood, he noticed that weight had been added to his spear. Karna looked up and saw Berserker had grabbed the shaft of Karna's spear while he wasn't paying attention.

"Two things, Karna. The first. I am not Archer but Berserker," Berserker said with a smile. "Secondly, you're gonna die for attacking me like this."

Karna didn't dare to continue listening to Berserker. The man that was supposed to be dead from having his heart pierced and half his torso torn in two was smiling at him. That was never a good sign.

Karna's body was soon covered in flames that burned Berserker and blew him back in the form of a charred body. This time, Karna didn't take his off the body. That's when he saw it.

Karna's body quickly regenerated from the burns before standing up proudly. The injuries that Karna had inflicted on him, his burns and stab wounds, had both disappeared without a trace.

"This is why I go shirtless. It would just end up ruined, especially when fighting against someone like you."

Karna looked at the monster in front of him and was ready to flee to try and gain a better position. But it was far too late.

"Anway. Let's go all out. Boss, I'm using my Madness Enhancement now."

All the markings on Berserker's body began to glow red. The hero let out a primal roar before charging at Karna like a beast. A true representation of the Berserker class.

The battle turned completely different than before. Karna could no longer blitz Berserker due to the latter's increase in speed. And since he seemed immune to permanent damage, Karna had no chance of killing him or even slowing him down for more than a moment.

[Master. The one chasing was Archer while Berserker was waiting in ambush for me. Berserker has an ability that makes him heal from even fatal injuries. He also seems to return the damage given to him back at me.]

[Shit! That should be Heracles. He has an ability that allows him to revive 12 times but I have never heard of it returning damage. Get out of there!]

[I am unable to. Berserker has gone mad in his attacks are much stronger than before. His speed has also increased.]

[Then you have my permission to use your Noble Phantasms. Just make sure you end it before Archer gets a chance to fire on you.]
