Chapter 6: Alliance

Chapter 6: Alliance

Rin froze, and her eyes widened in horror.

"Father?" She murmured as childhood memories of her flashed through her mind "Father's Servant is still alive?"

Julius nodded.

"Ten years ago, your father was betrayed by the person he trusted the most, who at the same time stole the Servant from him under the latter's approval." He explained. "They survived the previous war and are currently involved in this new one."

"Father was betrayed? Wh..." She was going to ask, but the realization came instantly. "Kirei?"

Her voice sounded a little cracked. Julius just nodded, thinking she would throw a little tantrum, but to his surprise, she stayed in her chair.

"How did you find out about this?" She asked.

"I can use a form of Divination through Astromancy." Julius pointed to his eyes. "From the future, I can only guess things like I'll be in danger if I go somewhere or something like that. However, for the past, I can see full scenes perfectly, of course, I was watching the previous war over and over again so I could get anything useful for when I participate."

"Master, that's..." Artoria looked surprised and stopped eating the burger in her hand. She had been so quiet that everyone had forgotten about her. "Ah, it's nothing, for a moment what the master said reminded me of someone."

Julius chuckled a bit, knowing that this ability to see the past reminded her of Merlin.

Rin seemed saddened.

"I see, the way my father died seemed strange to me after all." Although she didn't want to say it, she had a certain appreciation for Kirei since he had taken care of her for years. Knowing that her father had been killed by this person made her feel a bit betrayed.

"Don't blame the priest, Rin. Although it's his fault, that's how the Holy Grail War works." Julius commented. "The real rat in this story is Gilgamesh, who was your father's Servant and betrayed him just for entertainment."

Julius could understand Gilgamesh, he understood how different he was from any normal human, even magi and other Servants. Nevertheless, the betrayal was still quite unpleasant for him. Kirei was just Kirei, in a way he couldn't help but act evil since he didn't feel anything, Julius thought that his existence was actually quite pathetic and sad, he felt nothing but pity for the priest.

Rin clenched her teeth.

"You say that even with Saber you can't defeat Gilgamesh?" she questioned.

Julius stroked his chin.

"Who knows? Even so, victory will be much more likely if we join forces, your Archer is not a normal Servant either." There was a knowing smile on his part.

Rin looked away.

"So you also investigated my Servant." she muttered.

Julius got up. "Of course! I still want to win this war."

"Hmph!" Rin crossed her arms as Shirou looked on with an awkward smile and Saber simply ate another burger.

"Okay, I accept this temporary alliance. However, it will only last until we defeat Gilgamesh." She declared.

Julius seemed to relax his shoulders a bit.

"I'm glad you accepted." He was already on his feet and walked over to the window. "This was all I needed from you two. Shirou, go home and tell Mrs. Fujimura that you have planned a trip or something like that. Saber will accompany you until you return, in case someone attacks you, she will let me know."

Artoria nodded. "Okay, master."

Shirou seemed a bit reluctant at the idea of being away from home for several days, but he understood that it was for his own good.

"I'll do that. Damn, this has all happened so fast, I've got a headache." He commented.

"Let's go Shirou." Artoria smiled at the boy.

They both left quickly, leaving Rin and Julius alone.

"Okay, you should go back or Archer will worry about you." He advised.

Rin was enraged.

"That's what I was going to do, don't treat me like a lost child!"

Julius chuckled.

"Okay, okay." He raised his hands in surrender.

"Anyway, next time we should hold the strategy meeting at my house, there's little space here." She started to walk towards the door. "Oh, and don't think I've let my guard down against you, I know how a magus acts."

Julius cringed and gave an awkward laugh at this.

'Looks like she's interacted with magus before…' he thought to himself.

After this, she left. It hadn't been more than five minutes when Archer appeared next to her.

"Master, are you alright?" Archer questioned.

Rin tossed her hair back.

"Of course, don't you trust your master?" She answered.

The Servant's eye twitched at the girl's extravagance.

"What happened?" He was curious about the man who had managed to stop Lancer even for a brief moment.

"I formed an alliance with that master." She revealed, surprising Archer. "Ah, now that I think about it I didn't ask for his name."

The dark-skinned Servant covered his face with a hand in frustration.

"You'd better explain everything to me from the beginning if you want me to understand something." He advised 'kindly'.

Rin smiled.

"Sure!" She walked happily.

'What happened to her all of a sudden?' Archer wondered internally.
