Chapter 5: Ultima Spiritus

Just after returning from that dimension, Regis woke up and looked around to see both his Servant and his son were missing, he got up and looked around calling out his name. Then he heard sobbing. He went there to see Irisviel and Kiritsugu.

Kiritsugu: "Maiya... Please...open your eyes!"

Irisviel: "Kiritsugu..."

Regis then approaches them.

Irisviel: "Sir Regis..."

Regis: "What happened...?"

Kiritsugu: "Maiya!"

Regis didn't ask anymore once he saw Maiya's lifeless body smiling while Kiritsugu cries out for her name.

Kiritsugu: "Regis... Legends state that the Trevelyan family can make miracles happen right? I know that I'm asking a lot but..."

Regis: "I'm sorry... I can't make them... This isn't anymore the Age of Gods where I can conjure up some potion of revival... I'm sorry and my condolences."

Kiritsugu: "Dammit!!"

Irisviel: "Regis, where's Roy?"

Regis: "I don't know... Lancer and my son are nowhere to be seen."

Kiritsugu: "Come on... We have to go and find those who were responsible for this."

Regis: "Roy..."

As they continue to fight in the Holy Grail War, lots of things happen and as for Gilles' goal, he managed to use his Noble Phantasm and summoned an Eldritch monster in Fuyuki's bridge.

With the alliance with Rider or Iskandar, Lancer or Diarmuid's, and lastly Saber or Artoria. They are now fighting against Gilles de Rias.

Artoria can be seen stabbing the tentacles of the beast and on the air was Gilgamesh, as for Tokiomi and Gilgamesh, they were talking while doing that. Berserker hijacked a jet and is now in combat with Gilgamesh in the air.

As for Ryuunosuke, he cheers for Gilles' doing, and then behind him was Regis ready to kill him.

Regis: "Ryuunosuke."

Ryuunosuke: "So.. You're him, one of those Trevelyan I presume?"

Regis: "For the commiting genocide, I as both an overseer and as a father sentence you to death."

Ryuunosuke: "Then come and kill me then-"

Without finishing Ryuunosuke, Regis threw a blood lance on him. Ryuunosuke dodged the attack but was wounded, the monster then attacks Regis while at the same time being under attack by Artoria and Iskandar.

Both mages battle it out, Regis throws in another spell while Ryuunosuke did the same. Regis created blood weapons and used them to launch at Ryuunosuke. As they fight, Regis then remembers the promise that he and Kiritsugu made.

*Flashback*

Regis: "Kiritsugu."

Kiritsugu: "You still hope for them to return. Don't you?"

Regis: "Yes. I know for a fact that my Servant and my son are still alive."

Kiritsugu: "I won't blame you for hoping that."

Regis: "If you were to find my son... Please..."

Kiritsugu: "I will..."

Regis: "Thank you."

*Flashback Ends*

Regis: 'I am not going to die today... I'm going home with Roy and seeing Zack and Mercedes again! I want to see their smile! I won't let this ungrateful prick win!'

As Regis fights off with Ryuunosuke he keeps getting interrupted by the tentacles, he dodges them and then slices them in half.

As for Artoria, Diarmuid, and Iskandar. they continue to fight it. Iskandar, while on the air with Waver and the chariot, Artoria and Diarmuid on the waters. One of the tentacles manages to snare Diarmuid and then he got back up.

Diarmuid: "Damn. This one's tough."

He broke free from the snares and continues to fight with Artoria. Artoria on the other hand was knocked back by three tentacles.

Irisviel: "Saber!"

As the tentacles started forming up to Artoria and then launches themselves at her. Artoria prepared to endure the pain she'll get but then from the sky were blood spears raining down on those tentacles and they were cut off.

Irsviel: "Huh?"

Artoria opens her eyes and then sees the monster being bombarded with several attacks from the sky.

Artoria: "This power is from..."

In the sky was none other than Lancer Artoria herself and in front of her was Roy and next to him was Grimoire Wiess.

Roy: "Lartoria, you have to drop me here."

Lartoria: "I trust that you have a plan?"

Roy: "Don't leave me hanging, Weiss."

Wiess: "Of course not!"

Roy then falls from Dun Stallion and then Lartoria landed near Irisviel.

Irisviel: "Lartoria!"

Lartoria: "Hello again, Ms. Irisviel."

Irisviel: "Where have you two been?! Regis was getting worried and thought that both of you died."

Lartoria explained to her what happened and was shocked, while at the same time. Roy and Weiss launch a powerful blood explosion on the monster and the tentacles. While still in the air. Weiss aims at the weak points of the beat and next to Roy was a huge blood lance.

Roy: "Take this!!!"

With both the master and the book's permission, the blood lance did a lot of damage to it and created a huge explosion. Roy continues to fall and then was saved by Iskandar.

Iskandar: "HAHA! That was a glorious show!"

Roy: "Thanks."

Waver: "H-hey there."

Iskandar: "See Waver? You can learn a thing or two from this boy."

Roy: "He needs a year's worth of training."

Waver: "I-I'll do my best... Can't believe someone as young as you are a Master."

Roy: "I'm not a Master, My Father is. He is after all the Overseer."

Waver: "Wait what?"

Both of them landed near Irisviel, Artoria, and Lartoria.

Ryuunosuke: "W-what happened?!"

Regis: "I knew it..."

Regis smiled and then continues to face Ryuunosuke. the Master of Caster himself started getting afraid. Then he started running away, jumping from one building to another. Regis follows him but as he chases down Ryuunosuke he was then suddenly attacked by demons.

Regis: "Tch! Out of my way!"

As they got close to Regis he summoned more and more weapons and killed them all but then more appeared and one of them manages to capture Regis. As Regis is bound by several demons he tries to get out but then he was swallowed by darkness.

Regis: "Where... am I?"

???: "Regis Trevelyan... The son of Lucius Trevelyan and the father of both Zack and Roy Trevelyan. Hearing that name sparks my ire..."

Regis: "Who are you?!"

The demon stands as a giant, a horned goat for a head and a huge tail.

Zagan: "I am Zagan one of Lord Goetia's Servant. I have been entrusted by my Master to kill you."

Zagan then summons a powerful flaming sword and Regis summoned his sword and both of them started fighting, with a lot of hacks and slashes from Regis he manages to injure Zagan but the demon is still overpowering him. Due to his size, Regis can still outmaneuver Zagan.

Another hour or two inside darkness Regis was out of breath, exhausted from the fighting, his injuries were severe but he still manages to stand up.

Zagan: "Why do you insist on fighting? Do you know what happens when my Master comes to this world?"

Regis: "I don't... But as a mage and a father, I will protect them all... This is my sacred duty to fulfill as both the protectors of Earth and as a man of the house of Trevelyan!"

Then a vision hits Regis. Seeing the world burning and lots and lots of death at every corner of the world. Regis got sick of the brutality of the demons that roams the whole of Earth.

Regis: "What is... this...?"

Zagan: "I see so you too have the Sight? Interesting... Hahahaha... That is the impending future for you. So what you do here makes no difference."

Regis: "I...I..."

Zagan: *laughs* "Now then... Die."

Regis: "No..."

Regis tries to stand up again... His legs were shaking but he still manages to stand up. He summons all of his arsenals from swords to spears, to anything that was created in the Dark Ages. Zagan was still amused but it and he then summons his sword.

Regis: "You think... After seeing that... I'll just sit this one out and let the world burn...? Sorry to disappoint but I won't even if I have to spend eternity down here with you I won't let you go..."

Zagan: "You have amused me this long, Human. Very well then I shall fight you in a fair manner."

He shrunk down to Regis' size and points his sword at him.

Regis/???: "I won't give up!"

Regis: "Huh?"

In the shared vision from both Regis and Zagan were surprised to see some others who are still fighting Goetia.

Regis: "This is..."

In the fight, they saw a man with black hair and an eye patch. An odachi and then a man with white hair and shadows near them.

Roy: "Do you know who I am?! My name is Roy Trevelyan! And we Trevelyan... Sparda... (Intangible)... (intangible)... We're hard to kill!"

Goetia: "Cockroaches! All of you are! Now die!"

*BOOM*

Regis: "I see... If my son is fighting your Master then I too won't give in to despair... As long as someone stands up and fights you... There will always be hope in Humanity! DIE!!"

Both of them swing their weapons and try to kill one another again. Regis pulls out several blood chains and strikes them at Zagan's horns. The demon tries to get it off of him but the chains have spikes prickling the demon and transferring Regis' blood inside the demon and trying to poison it.

Zagan: "Damn wretched mortal! DIE!"

He then swings wildly hoping that would be able to kill Regis but the Head of the Trevelyan family was smarter than the demon. He then pulls the chains and made Zagan kneel to the ground. He then used another magic to bind Zagan.

Regis: "Your end has come!"

Both of them swing their weapons and try to kill one another again. Regis pulls out several blood chains and strikes them at Zagan's horns. The demon tries to get it off of him but the chains have spikes prickling the demon and transferring Regis' blood inside the demon and trying to poison it.

Regis: "Your end has come!"

Regis then dealt with the final blow killing Zagan.

Irisviel: "How can we finish off that beast?"

Waver: "I don't know but..."

Roy: "We're going to need both King Arthur for this... Their Noble Phantasms combined."

Waver: "If that's happening, Lancer and Rider can distract the monster while the two of them can cast it."

Irisviel: "I see. Saber, can you do it?"

Artoria: "Yes. If that is your wish."

Lartoria: "Young Master?"

Roy: "Lartoria... I know I'm sending you to danger without Father's permission but..."

Lartoria: "It is quite alright... Master before you send us out. I want you to have this."

Lartoria kneels down to Roy's height and then gives him a pendant. It has the same cross pattern as Artoria's. Roy looks up to Lartoria and she smiled at him, Roy started tearing up and Lartoria wiped off his tears.

Lartoria: "Do not worry, we'll see each other again."

Roy: *tears* "I... Okay... I'll see you again...soon."

Lartoria and Artoria went to the river under the bridge while both Diarmuid and Iskandar started drawing away from the monster's attention from the two Artoria(s). Artoria Saber chanted the Noble Phantasm while Lartoria went up into the air with Dun Stallion.

Artoria Saber raised her sword and the sword started glowing a bright golden glow.

Artoria: "EXCALIBUR!!!!"

Lartoria: "RHONGOMYNIAD!!!!"

But as Lartoria charges, one of the tentacles managed to stab her and when Roy felt the pain he shared with Lartoria, he immediately started stabbing his left hand just trying to keep her alive.

Irisviel: "Roy! Enough!"

Roy: "I can't! Lartoria... Lartoria!"

Weiss: "Enough, Young Master! If you continue this you're going to run out of blood and bleed out!"

Irisviel took out the knife from his hand and hugs her.

Irisviel: "I'm sorry..."

Roy: "Lartoria... Mother... Mother... Mother! Lartoria's going to-" *sniff*

Irisviel: "It's going to be fine... Just stay strong..."

With that last attack on the monster, Caster is finished. While all of that stuff was happening, Ryuunosuke was killed by Kirei's Assassin Servant.

Assassin: 'Master, it is done.'

Kirei: 'Not yet. We will need to find and kill that boy as well.'

As the smoke clears and then Lartoria's body started to show a lot of golden particles, Artoria went to her Lancer version and tries to help her out and when they went back to land, Roy runs towards Lartoria and gave her a hug.

Lartoria: "Young Master...?"

Roy: "Lartoria...!! I'm sorry... I'm so sorry..."

Lartoria: "It's going to be alright. Remember, you're going to see me again. Okay? So be strong and remember the things I taught you."

Roy: "Lartoria... Thank you..."

Roy continues to cry and Lartoria went back to the Throne of Heroes. Exhausted from the fight, Roy lost consciousness and was caught by Artoria.

After the battle was over, Kiritsugu arrived and saw Roy in Irisviel's hands, unconscious but breathing. Waver and Iskandar went to fight Gilgamesh who won against Berserker Lancelot. And as for Diarmuid, he went and return to Kayneth.

Kiritsugu: "Irisviel? What happened?"

Irisviel: "A very sad goodbye between friends."

Kiritsugu: "I see... What about Regis?"

Artoria: "He is nowhere to be found."

Kiritsugu: "Alright, get in the car. We're going to finish of Kayneth."

And so they went to the car and to where Kayneth was. Both Artoria and Diarmuid still fought, both fighters were at a standstill since both are exhausted and know each other by now. So, Kiritsugu had to do another way of killing Kayneth.

Kayneth: "Why does he not win? If he has no certain path to victory should he not escape with his master and accept defeat? Right now our top priority is to find and rescue Sola-Ui. Why can't he understand that simple concept!"

As he complains louder a drop of a bullet's barrel got his attention. Kayneth looked at the source of the sound and found Kiritsugu pointing his gun at Sola-Ui.

Kayneth was shocked to see her but then Kiritsugu puts his index finger in front of his lips not letting out a single word from Kayneth.

While both Artoria and Diarmuid fight. Kiritsigu pulled out a paper and then threw it at Kayneth.

Kayneth: 'This is...'

Realizing what it was Kayneth had to make a choice, and he did. As both Artoria and Diarmuid continue to fight, out of nowhere, Diarmuid stabbed himself using his own spear. Irisviel and Artoria were shocked.

Diarmuid was cursing all of them even an unconscious Sola-Ui and Roy, after that. He disappeared and crumbled to dust. Kiritsugu took a few steps away from Kayneth.

Kayneth: "So... the seal worked on you?"

Kiritsugu: "Yes, I could never kill you and Sola-Ui."

*Bang* *Bang* *Bang* *Bang*

It took a lot of shots but Kayneth fell off his wheelchair and even dropped Sola-Ui which revealed that she is already dead.

Kiritsugu: "I can't but..."

Kayneth struggles to talk but he still crawls towards Kiritsugu, he uttered his final wish.

Kayneth: "Kill me... Kill me now..."

Kiritsugu: "Sorry our pact forbids me to."

Then Artoria went to Kayneth's body and was about to slice his body off until a Grimoire Wiess summoned a blood sword and killed Kayneth by literally making him into a pincushion.

Kiritsugu: "What the... What are you?"

Weiss: "I am Grimoire Weiss, and I did that as per my Master's wish."

Artoria: "You mean... Roy?"

Weiss; "No, my true Master, Lucius."

Kiritsugu: "I see."

Iskandar: "King of Babylonia a final word. A banquet's last question."

Gilgamesh: "I shall allow it. Speak."

Iskandar: "Well, this is purely hypothetical of course, still. Were my Ionioi Hetairoi, it would create the most powerful army imaginable."

Gilgamesh: *scoffs* "So?"

Iskandar: "Why would you not align yourself with me? The two of us together could conquer the universe and beyond if we desire it."

Then Gilgamesh started laughing.

Gilgamesh: "You never cease to amuse me, mongrel. It has been so long since I laughed at something gibberish as one, not a fool. but unfortunately, I've had three comrades and those are the only ones I will have. Furthermore, there is no need for two kings!"

Iskandar: "A lonely path of Kingship, eh? With all respect due to a king. I shall challenge your strong unwavering spirit."

Gilgamesh: "Very well, show me what you can do. King of Conquerors."

Gilgamesh: "Come EA! A stage worthy of you has been set! Enuma Elish!!"

As Gilgamesh unleashes the power of his Noble Phantasm -Enuma Elish- Iskandar while on his horse and in front was Waver, jumps off from a chasm. And continues to ride towards

As they continue to fight, Iskandar's Reality Marble shattered while facing Gilgamesh again and is now bound by the Chains of Heaven.

Gilgamesh scoffs again as Iskandar tries his best to hit him with his sword.

Iskandar: "I swear to the Gods, it's just one strange toy with you isn't it?"

Then suddenly Iskandar was stabbed by Gilgamesh's EA.

Gilgamesh: "Have you awakened from your dream? King of Conquerors."

Then Iskandar started bleeding.

Iskandar: "I..suppose I have... However, once again during this glorious campaign. My heart was able to dance a good deal."

Gilgamesh: "Feel free to challenge me again as you like, King of Conquerors."

As Gilgamesh takes out EA from Iskandar's body, he started to bleed out and blood started raging out from his body.

Gilgamesh: "This entire world is my garden till the very end of time. Thus, I guarantee you this. It will never bore you. It will always be entertaining."

Iskandar died and Waver lost his Servant and Gilgamesh went back somewhere.

At the closing stage of the 4th Holy Grail War, Irisviel was used as a sacrifice and then is now the Holy Grail and is being possessed by an Unknown being, with no other choice. Kiristugu kills Irisviel by choking her.

On the building where the Grail appeared Kiritsugu orders Artoria to destroy the Corrupted Holy Grail but before that, Regis finally found Roy who was sitting outside the car.

Regis: "Roy!"

Roy: "Father?!"

Both of them ran towards each other and hugged one another but then...

*Swing*

Blood was on Roy's face... Regis' blood. Behind Regis was none other than Kirei Kotamine. Inside the building, Artoria raised Excalibur to the air. Outside the building, Roy's emotions were running rampant.

Regis: "Roy... Please... don't... lose... Hope... and keep fighting to protect... the ones you love..."

Roy: "Father..."

Regis smiled and his head was ripped off by Assassin and Kirei. Roy's anger, fear, confusion mainly runs into what's happening in front of him.

Roy: 'KiLl!!! kIlL!!! KilL!!!'

Artoria used her Noble Phantasm and then at the same time Roy summoned the falling meteors from Grimoire Wiess. Causing the city to burn and explode into a pit of living hell. Hundreds of thousands of people were killed by this.

As Fuyuki City a once and prosperous town is now a ghost town filled with rubble. Kiritsugu with a depressed look on his face sees a boy with red-orange hair and rescued him from the rubble.

Kiritsugu: "It's going to be alright now... You're safe... Now..."

Kiritsugu placed the boy in a hospital along with Roy. While this is happening. Back in the U.K Regis and Roy's funeral was happening. Zack and Mercedes were bawling their eyes out as they cried losing their father/husband. The men started chanting the song, Salve Regina...

As the men started to chant, the people throw flowers at both of their coffins as they are getting buried.

Zack: "Mom... Is... Is this real... Tell me that this is just a dream... It's got to be a dream... Right?"

Mercedes: "I'm so sorry... Zack... I'm so sorry..."

Priest: "In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Let both Regis and Roy Trevelyan rest in peace. Forever..."

Years later, a boy with black hair and another boy with red-orange hair can be seen fighting each other and have their own blades locked on to each other.

Shirou: "Roy!"

Roy: "Shirou! Die!!"
