Owing a life

"What the!" Emil's eyes widened in shock.

Did she die just like that?

He hurried to the spot she fell, but is careful not to slip from the mud under his foot and have the same fate as the Chameleon.

He took his knife and cut the surrounding plant for him to have a better view. There he saw Chameleon still hanging with her uninjured arm on a liana.

Emil seeing her dangling around found it funny and cracked a joke, "Is it really a good time to swing yourself around like Tarzan? "

It was a dry joke and not funny at all. At least the only listener and person whom the joke was directed to didn't find it funny.

Well, Emil himself realized that too, since Chameleon's expression of clenched teeth, pain filled face with a death grip for her life didn't change.

"Hey, you listening jungle lady? Ever someone told you, you look ugly as heck! No one would fancy you! Where comes the idea of you trying to covet me?" Emil really loved this, to take the chance to give her some pecks on her head, for all the things she did to him.

Pet! Does he look like an animal! He was a handsome man with pride.

Even though the man who claims he is prideful, used an despicable method like sand grains.

And she dared make him almost infertile. If he doesn't take the opportunity now when then?

She bite her lip to calm herself down, she really would love to beat this dog who belittles her to death.

But right now every second could be her last, her hand slowly slipped down the liana and her consciousness became fuzzy from the pain and ongoing stress she was exposed to.

When everything went black she heard one last word from Emil. "We're even now!" (balanced)*

With that Chameleon became unconscious and slipped off.

Emil quickly reached up his hand to grab hers and pulled her up, while supporting their body weights with his other hand holding some sturdy plants.

For what reason did he do that?

Simply, because she spared his life.

The enemy spared his life!

Emil might have acted cheekily right now, but he did not intended to let her die.

She kicked, scratched and punched like a girl who threw a tantrum! And not like a blood lusting women with killing intent, that she was.

He felt a knife in one of her pockets, she could have easily pulled it out and stab him in his heart, but she didn't.

For an unknown reason she didn't.

So to pay back what he owed, he helped her out.

Carrying her now in a princess carry, he laid her down a clean place far away from the crack.

He takes a clean cloth and wets it with his water flask, thoroughly cleaning off the remaining sand grains and cry marks on her face.

Afterward, he took her dislocated arm of hers and located it back where it's suposed to be. She furrowed from the pain and opened her eyes.

She woke up!

She is surprised, she thought he let her die. Why was she still alive?

Adjusting to the light of the moon, her toxic green eyes wander to the towering figure in front of her.

"You let me live. Why?" She had to ask, she wanted to know why.

"Wrong, that should be my question! Why did you let me live, when you had so many opportunities to kill?" Emil didn't want to bother with this mystery anymore. "We're even now! I told you that, so stop asking!"

A feeling of dependence grew in her heart, a kind she had not felt for a long time and had it only for one person, her brother.

She really wanted him to belong to her. Or would she make so many errors? She would have been long dead if that were the truth.

Chameleon still laying on the ground, looked up and said, "An enemy would never care, if he is even or not. And the more so for a person, who uses sand grains."

"..."

Cat got your tongue. True! He should not have cared. Why did he care?!

Chameleon is moved, that the man that refused to become her pet helped her escape death.

She vowed in her heart, that her life would solely be his and she would protect him. But does not speak it out loud, which Emil will only later on learn about.

Random babble:

What a twist!

And is the feisty Chameleon a brocon?! Well, I don't know.

But brocon looks a bit like broccoli.
