Fate’s Play

" Quinn " his melodic voice called out to me . I knew it in an instant that it was him cause my heart skipped a beat. My body usually responds to him but not this time, not until he gives me some valid reasons. I gave him my silent treatment by ignoring his tempting voice and started walking away. "Why are you here?" he insisted me with an authoritative tone. "Quinn , talk to me !" "Why?" I bursted out unable to tolerate my anger . The temperature changed as I smirked at myself knowing the reason. "Why are you doing this to me ?" His beautiful face was scrunched up in confusion. "Why are you disappearing on me? Yesterday, you magically vanished within a second " I paused for a while and then continued. "Don't even try to make an excuse for that. It's humanly impossible. This is not the first ti-" " I'm a spirit" he replied casually. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What will you do when your walls of truth breaks down as lies? Major slip of tongue

Quinn P.O.V.

I couldn't utter a single word from terror. "What happened?" Max- I mean Felix had asked me and that was what I was asking myself. I don't know why I had called him, Max in the first place. Something took over me when I spotted those black creatures more like devils. I felt the strong sensation shooting out from my hands!! I.. I am completely out of words. I, myself would not believe in all of this if I hadn't had magic within me. How would he trust me if I say this? What if he leaves me? "What the hell happened out there!?" my mind screamed out. Even though I knew the answer, I was scared - no terrified of accepting it. My hands started trembling severely and the back hair was drenched with sweat even in this cold temperature.

"Wait here" I heard him say before disappearing out of his room. "Calm down. Please stay calm" I chanted and took deep breaths. Temperature of the room dropped even lower that it was almost freezing. I blocked away all my thoughts for a minute and focussed on the picture in front of me which was pinned on the wall. It was a picture of Felix and his lil' sister playing in the swing and his older brother smiling lovingly at them as he stood out in the corner. "Oh, how badly would Felix miss them now.." I pitied him. Footsteps of Felix echoed in the room I was in. "Here" he handed me a cup of hot milk. "Thanks" I said sincerely as I took the cup from his icy cold hand. He was still wearing those stupid shades which hid his beautiful eyes.

Warmness spread through me, as I took a sip from it. It eased the temperature around the room. I was grateful for the silence Felix was giving me. "I'm sorry for everything" I blurted out. "I'm sorry for making you face this horrific situation" He held my hand and said, "Trust me, I've seen worse" Seen worse? What the hell is he talking about? He must have got me wrong. Something in his voice screamed that he spoke the truth. He engulfed me to a hug and whispered, "Ssh Nothing's gonna happen to you... Please don't cry Merida" Was I ? I didn't realise that I was now a crying mess and had almost covered his shirt with my salty tears. What am I gonna say when I myself couldn't understand it!

Will he believe me when I spill out the truth? I placed the cup on the nearest table and slumped my shoulders. My actions showed a major slip of my powers... And now I have to give him a good explanation for this. Argh! "Why did you push me into this situation Lord!" I yelled inwardly. "How else this day could go from good to worse?" I sadly said. As expected, he remained quiet. "I'm to blame cause I should have expected it to happen. After all, Fate doesn't help me to live peacefully, right?" I chuckled dryly and turned around. Unfortunately, my hand hit the cup and I froze in terror as I was 'bout to make a mess in his sister's room. Thankfully, the cup froze in it's tilted position and Max- Felix had a pained expression as he froze, facing my way.

I placed the cup back to it's position and wiped those milk droplets with the tissue he had given me. I threw them in a bin and took my place in the bed again as I placed my head in my hands. I remained in silence as I prepared a speech for Felix and heard the clock coming back to life. "Wha-" he stopped mid-sentence and I could hear him coming towards me. The only thing which intrigued me was his heartbeat. Was I joking myself ? Maybe due to the stress, I'm not able to hear his beat. He crouched down to my level and held my hand in his. "Look at me" he whispered. I don't want him to pity me right now cause that was the least thing I would want. I butted in, "I'm sorry, I should have told you. But that would have been even more dangerous"

"Not only for you, but for me too" I sniffled. "Look at me" he repeated, his voice sounding stronger than before. "I'm ashamed" "Don't be" I looked through my tears as he held me in position. "Don't be afraid.. I'll protect you no matter what" Something sparked a change of emotion in me as I started heating up his room. "Do you think I'm weak?" I said as I pulled my hand away from his. "That's.. no.." He stuttered. I could clearly see his shocked expression. "Well, let me rephrase it for you!" I voiced out angrily and he took a step forward when I stood up from the bed. "I'm sorry for involving you in this trouble which I should be facing it alone" I said as I stressed out the phrase, 'involving you'.

I took a step forward while glaring at him and walked towards the door. I stopped when he held my hand once again. "You're mistaken.. I never mentioned that you were weak. Something is troubling you cause I have noticed it. So, I want to help you to progress your stability against them. Okay?" he said softly. I withdrew my hand from his and walked away, cause I wasn't able to process what he said.

"What am I doing? Why did I yell at him when he tried to help me? I'm going nuts!!" I murmured as I parked my bike in the garage. My dad's car wasn't there when I parked my bike ... which means they aren't home! I jogged up to my door and fumbled with the key as I saw some creatures making an appearance outside my house. How the heck they came here... My God! It's getting serious now. If they involve my family in this, I don't know what I'll do to them.

I wouldn't be able to kill them right now cause I am new to this but could I make them go away. So, I locked the front door and stood out in the lawn. "It's been so long since we met Merida!" the black creature spoke with a cold tone. It was wearing a black cloak as it hid is face in the cloth. Only it's eyes were visible cause they were glowing in white. Soon a mist surrounded us blocking the human vision to watch this episode. I kept my mouth sealed. "Just tell me where he went?" I was dumbstruck. So, they hadn't come for me? Then for whom? "What?" I asked out in surprise. "The spirit, I can still sense the thread of his fate entwined in yours.. but..." It stopped. I provoked, "But what ? Answer me !"

"Don't you dare order me what to do Merida, daughter of Hecate!" It snarled. But I didn't focus on it.. Wasn't my mum's name Delta? I was more confused.. "Daughter of what?" I could see it's wicked vile smile and it sent me chills. It's sharp pointed teeth made an appearance on it's lips. "That's for you to find out. This is the last warning. Don't you dare order me, you weak immortal soul!" That's it, my patience level drained out from me. A big thunder clap was heard as the Earth beneath us shook in terror. A gust of wind surrounded us. "You don't know with whom you are fighting with!" I gave him a small smile, "Oh yes! I do know that... And that's the only reason, I'm sending you back to the place where you came from"

The vicious smile vanished in a split second as mine made a proper appearance. "I will get back to-" I cut him by shoving him hard on to the ground with the help of the power surge which developed on my hands. "Quinn, Quinn!" I heard someone call out my name and turned in the direction to see Felix, a few feet behind my back. I stopped whatever I was doing and shifted my attention to him or I would have killed the demon by now. I didn't want to do that cause then there wouldn't be a difference between it and me... The wind around us slowly descended and the tremors stopped automatically. His electric blue eyes held some emotion and I wasn't quite sure about it.

"Are you okay?" he asked me but, was I okay? I couldn't comprehend what my emotions are right now! Unable to speak properly, I just gave him a light nod. "You must go home now" He insisted softly. "Not before I close this huge hole" I said as I saw the huge mark on the very ground, the devil stood a few minutes ago.

What am I going to do ? He saw me. HE FREAKING SAW ME!!! He is my best friend and I, in turn pulled him into my messy life. "Is he now? After all the drama you caused in his house?" my mind questioned me. He was my best friend and I lost him now. Now I have to consider shifting our house again.. Shoot! Why did my life have to get complicated suddenly? "Why are you pacing around Quinn?" I spooked out and nearly tripped on my table. "Woah, I can't handle you now" I said and laid on the bed with my head under the pillow. I screamed out in defeat as the next set of hot tears got stained on my mattress. "Your parents would have heard you" he said as I stopped.

I sat up and wiped my tears with the sleeves and said, "They're not here" As expected, my voice was terrible. He sat next to me and hummed a song as he gestured me to lie down on my bed. "Remi, you do have a sweet voice" I drawled out sleepily. He chuckled and whispered, "Go back to sleep beautiful" I fell asleep in between his song.

Just close your eyes, the sun is going down..

You'll be alright, no one can hurt you now..
