Elements

By the time I reached my house, it was almost five. Since I had the spare key, I entered my house to be greeted by my angry mum. "Where were you missy?" She was furious. "I... I.. got my" I sighed and continued "my new element today" I stammered. You had to see her face at that time cause it was priceless. Wish I had a camera but still in this situation I couldn't do anything. "My God! It came way too early Quinn" she gasped. Just then someone knocked the door. "I'll see it" I said and unlocked the door to find the boy from the park.

"See I found you" he smiled and to be honest I was surprised. The way he smiled made his dimples pop from his cheeks. He looked adorable. "Wait What?!!?!" I quickly recovered from my daze and replied, "Great!" He looked at me for a second and then spoke, "Umm ... yes. You dropped this Quinn" I was beyond shocked, no terrified that I had almost lost my lucky charm. "So, I actually followed you here" he smiled sheepishly and handed my bracelet. "Oh thank you so much! You don't know how much this means to me" I thanked him sincerely. He grinned and retreated his hand back to his pocket and swayed back and forth. "Okay, I gotta go" he said as he left. He came all the way for me?! "Don't flatter yourself girl!" My mind yelled at me. I locked the door and headed to the kitchen where my mum now was clattering with her vessels.

"Who was at the door?" She asked me as soon as I entered the kitchen. "Mum, it was...." "Shoot!!" I internally panicked as I didn't ask for his name. "a boy who I met in the park" I replied casually masking my anxiety. "You went to the park?" She shrieked. "Yeah, because I was freaked out by my own element" I exclaimed. "Oh" she said and directed our topic to a complete different route. "Okay, so why did he come?" She asked teasingly. "It's not what you think, mum. I just met him today!" I whined. She looked at me eagerly. "I dropped my lucky charm in the park, so he brought it back. End of story" I said annoyingly as my mum raised her eyebrows. "You might think it's the end of the story but you don't know about guys! I've crossed your stage and met your dad so" "Okay okay" I interrupted her. "Was he cute?" my mum asked I just stared wide eyed at her. "Was she being serious? I am telling her that I got my element and she's talking about some random guy!"  "Who's cute" came the booming voice.

                  "Dad!" I yelled and jumped into his wide open arms. I broke free from his hug and saw his face for some reaction when I said, "Dad, my third element has kicked in!" "Woah, too fast huh?" He smiled but I could see the sadness behind his happy mask. "What is it?" They both asked in unison. "Suit yourself" my voice sounded higher than an octave cause I was agitated. "Would I be able to perform it in front of them? What should I do to control my element?" All these questions had blocked my mind. I shook my head and cleared my thoughts. "All I have to do is just think, I guess" I concluded. "We're waiting over here!" My dad said and I shushed him. "You can do this Quinn!" my mind cheered me.

               I thought about taking those vessels and the coffee cup which I had bought and to my surprise, they were floating in the air. Seeing this their eyes nearly came out from their sockets and their jaw dropped down. "Oh my" my dad started and was finished by my mum, "God!" I, then placed them back to the counter and clapped my hands to get their attention. "So.... how was it?" They smiled but it didn't reach their eyes. "C'est bien!" Mum exclaimed. "That's my girl" Dad said as he raised his hand for a fist bump. "Yay!" I said as I bumped my hand to his and disguised my face with happiness.

                 They didn't seem to notice my change of behavior. "Okay then, I'm going back to my room. I want to relax my mind for a while" I said as I choked on my own emotions. "Okay dear, I'll call you when your dinner is ready" came her voice as I headed upstairs. "Okay mum" I whispered. Every time I tell them I've got a new power, they feel worried about something. I just don't know about what they're being worried about. I closed my door in frustration. "What is their problem and what are they afraid of?" I thought. I just couldn't put my finger on it. It all started on my 15th birthday.

                   My first element was to freeze time, weird isn't? Then it was my emotions, that is, my emotions were connected to the seasonal change of the Earth. Till yesterday, it was my coolest power but now, yes you guessed it right! Today, Emotions was replaced by Telekinesis. The only thing which nags my mind is that why did my element turn out way too soon and the only reason to it is, something is coming for me. I don't know when and where but it's definitely coming for me and very soon.
