Chapter 5: Time

A long, long time ago humans were the dominant race in the world of Braula… One day, however, the demon found a way to both connect and enter this world… yada yada. So now there's more than just the human race. Elves, dwarfs, demons, fairies, etc.

With a crack in dimension, mana starts leaking through both doors connected to both dimensions. New changes began to form in Braula and unlike the other species that got used to such phenomena already, the humans took time slowly adapting. Soon their society became unstable. Humans with their great adaption weren't enough to fight depression, they needed something to rely on.

Thus, humans started blaming demons for their uncontrollable mentality and magic. With enough people, different intelligent races start to believe and cooperate with humans to get rid of demons. Soon, humans became the dominant race once again because of their wits and diligence… or so the humans thought.

The history of mana and aura.

For some reason, both genders absorbed the single strand of mana and came out with different results. These people that absorbed mana throughout time became mana users. Males absorb the mana and turn it into an aura that's generated through the core in the abdomen. Females cut the long thread of mana and turn it into mana circles circling their heart or flowing through their veins. Slowly, over time, more and more humans became mana users until mana became a second nature to all living beings.

'So it's possible to be manaless… *sigh*', Isaac thought to himself.

low and behold! Isaac Hayes indeed isn't a mana user.

Neatly stacking the books back, Isaac pulled out a third book. This time it was a notebook. He grabbed the pen and wrote TO DO LIST (in his language from earth). It's been four months and Isaac learned how to read and write in secret. Logically, he would think that his parents would go crazy if they found out their one year old is already smarter than them.

During the four months, he had also tried to feel the mana or his core for many weeks right after he found out such things existed. Ofcourse, he hasn't given up yet since he still has the elemental test during his coming of age ceremony. Still, he doesn't have too much hope. As for learning to read, he was struggling at first, but for some unknown reason, with each passing day he gained much more clarity. He's guessing it's because of his already much matured brain

Isaac starts to write the whole list:

1. Read all the books and gain knowledge

2. practice sword and reach at least his brother's level

3. Practice my carpenter skills and make instruments

4. understand the human nature of this world and act more like a kid

5. cooking

6. meet different races

7. etc.

After writing a few more goals he wanted to achieve for now, he closed notebook and stood up waddling around when he heard footsteps toward his room.

*creak*

Isaac's mother came and picked him up for lunch.

At the lunch table, everyone was eating soup. Everyone except Isaac, they have been eating this bland crap for so long without any changes. He's a picky eater for sure. The family members exchanged glances with each other.

"Maybe my baby wants milk?" Isaac's mother questioned.

Hearing those words, Isaac quickly ate the soup grudgingly while swearing to himself that when he grows up, he's gonna cook.

"Hey, what do you think about bringing Isaac around town while selling crops? You know, he's kind of different from his brother, he's too quiet. I'm worried he will get lonely. He should have a feel of what the world looks like. I don't think he'll cause trouble." Isaac's father said.

Isaac's ears perked up hearing that, and continued to eat.

"Thats not fair! I wanna go with Isaac, I wanna help mom as well!" Isaac's brother said, suddenly stops eating.

*sigh* "No Tick, you have to go to school. You could help out after school. Your brother isn't old enough yet. Be patience" the father said.

The conversation ended.

Isaac is pretty about getting to leave the house in a year or so, but he also wonders if he's been too quiet. His family thinks he's some introverted genius that likes to scribble and act like he can read (even though he is), it still felt like his act wasn't enough. How does someone act like a baby?

Anyways, He's brought back into his room. He's feeling sleepy. Not Yet he told himself and started waddling in circles. No one had any idea how frustrated he had been in the few days. His legs were super unstable, this made his competitive nature come out once again. He's been practicing his walking skills by going around and around in his room.

Every time he fell, he tried super hard to not cry. His body was too sensitive. Once. Twice. Three times. Isaac's panting now. one more! he thought to himself and continued to stabilize his legs.

However, he fell short from fatigue, falling to the ground and went into slumber.

*thump!*

His mother came running, worried, and opened the door, "Baby?"

She saw him on the ground, quickly went up to him, checked on him and smiled

"zzz"

Strange and adorable His mother thought as she gently set him in his cradle.

Somewhere out there in the dark abyss:

*Ding!* +0.15

*Ding!* +0.15

*Ding!* +0.15

Leg strength (0.1) -> (0.55)
