Sun Jake

Deep steps emerged in total darkness. When the steps slowly ceased, suddenly a beam of light pierced the darkness, coming from a cell phone.

The cell phone light illuminated a rather beautiful face. It looked tired and disheveled, in a bad mood.

"The fourth video starts; it's 3:51 PM," Sun Jake began recording.

"I still haven't found a way out. Everything here is surrounded by metal, even the floor and the ceiling." Sun Jake reached out to the nearby wall, feeling the special texture with his fingers. Cold, smooth, and hard.

"He then pointed the cell phone at the metal wall and turned on the flashlight, trying to capture as much as possible of the silver-gray metal."

"These metal corridors form a square shape, connecting to each other to create a huge metal maze. There are many metal doors on the walls, most of which cannot be opened. I crawled out of a freezer in one of the rooms."

"I don't know where I am. I've never seen a place like this before, not even online, and I couldn't find any information here either."

"I don't know how I ended up here. My memory is blank, stuck in that summer after college."

"I remember the past, my dog, my parents, all the games I played; I remember everything clearly, but then everything disappeared."

"Something must have happened for me to be stuffed in a freezer and sent to this place, but I don't remember what happened!" Sun Jake's tone grew anxious as he paused for a moment and continued.

"The year showing on my cell phone is 2030. If that date is real, it means I may have lost five years of memory."

"What happened in the last five years? Where exactly am I?"

At that moment, a beep sounded, and a notification appeared on the cell phone screen: "Low battery, unable to use flashlight."

Sun Jake knew he couldn't waste any more time. Regardless of what had happened before, he needed to escape from here first. If he died trapped here, everything that happened before would be meaningless.

Sun Jake clenched his lips, gathered his strength, and continued speaking into the cell phone: "You mentioned there are some metal doors on the metal walls? Strangely, some doors are not just hanging on the walls; there are doors on the ceiling and the floor as well. At one of the doors, I heard the sound of some movements—some unusual movements. I'm going to take a look now."

Saying this, he touched the cold metal wall and moved to the left. A minute later, he stopped, raised his head, and held the cell phone, pointing at the large black door above his head.

"Did you hear that? There's a sound coming from inside the door on the ceiling—a very soft sound, seeming to come from a distant place."

"The cell phone battery is running out; I'll go in first." With that, Sun Jake exited the screen recording mode.

Estimating the height, Sun Jake took a few steps back slowly, jumped forcefully, and four fingers firmly grasped the edge of the door.

Finally, Sun Jake used all his strength to climb onto that door, using his hands and feet.

Stepping on the door frame, looking up with his neck stretched, and illuminating the interior with the cell phone light, he discovered several pieces of high-precision mechanical equipment that he couldn't understand, many of which were without their casings.

Strange mechanical arms extended from the left and right walls like tree branches, forming a metal forest, and at the end of the mechanical arms above, another door appeared directly above Sun Jake's head, where the soft sound was coming from.

"Why is this place so strange? Where the hell am I?" Sun Jake stepped on the mechanical arms and carefully climbed towards the top.

And when Sun Jake stepped through that door, he finally found the source of the soft sound, which was a small red dot, flashing intermittently, like a computer warning sign on standby.

When Sun Jake illuminated the red dot with the flashlight on his cell phone, he discovered that the place was actually an arched room with just a few chairs and nothing else.

Sun Jake once again activated recording mode, aiming at the red dot. "Look, there seems to be a screen above this red dot. I'm going to record everything that happens next on my cell phone. If I lose my memory again for some unknown reason, these recordings will be mine."

Sun Jake had barely said this when his slightly warm cell phone suddenly went black, followed by the cell phone brand logo. "The battery died just at the crucial time! Damn! What a garbage phone!"

Extremely irritated, Sun Jake shoved the phone into his left trouser pocket, looked at the red dot in front of him, took a deep breath, and knew he had no choice.

Sun Jake is now afraid that something bad will happen after he touches that red dot, but he's also afraid that nothing will happen after he touches it.

Because that's his only choice, he's looked everywhere; if that red dot doesn't react in any way, he'll be completely trapped in this metal labyrinth.

After calming his feelings a little by closing his eyes, Sun Jake held his breath and reached out towards the red dot and touched it.

When he saw the red dot fade away and merge completely with the surrounding darkness, Sun Jake's heart almost stopped beating.

But soon everything around him began to shake; a resonating hum came from under his feet.

The sudden change in his surroundings made Sun Jake extremely nervous. He continued to stare into the surrounding darkness, nervously watching for any possible change.

However, there was no change in his surroundings; the first change was in himself. With the press of the red button, his feet gradually moved away from the ground, and in the end, he was flying straight up in the air!

This peculiar change left Sun Jake stunned. What kind of world was he in? "I can fly. I can fly? Magic? Special abilities?"

But before Sun Jake could be happy, with a bang, a crack opened in the wall opposite him in the arch-shaped room, and an extremely bright light burst through the crack, illuminating everything inside the room.

When Sun Jake, his eyes squinting, finally got used to the intense light, he saw the arched walls sliding back from the central crack.

And the moment the wall opened completely, an enormous planet occupied his entire field of vision.

Sun Jake felt his heart beating violently, his throat tight, and every breath choking him.

A planet is such a common concept, but when it appears clearly before your eyes, only then can you feel the crushing weight of that word.

The starlight illuminated one side of the planet, while the other side hidden in the darkness looked like an immense chasm opening up, making Sun Jake feel a chill as if he were being watched by a cosmic beast.

Suddenly, Sun Jake remembered something, looked down at his floating feet, and then at the huge planet beyond the glass.

"My God! Was I in outer space the whole time?!"
