CHAPTER 3 THE WISH YO BE FREE

Bird in its cage wishes to be free;

Freedom and only freedom is what it desires;

The world outside is vast and cruel;

Yet freedom from its cage, it desire.

The world is full of seas, rivers and falls;

But for water its search would be on;

In its cage, water is at hand;

Yet the bird's desire to be free is still on.

Outside there would be little to eat;

In the cage grain is served enough;

In the open a hunter may be out with his net;

But its desire to be free is ever tough.

Without a fear of being hunted;

Through its cage it would try to squeeze;

To be free it would try and try;

And when the cage opens, away it would fly,

Along with the gentle breeze.
