Chapter 25 The Finals

We woke up early this morning, well I did...I ended up having to force Naruto out of bed. He really wasn't a morning person. I wanted to make sure he was taken care of and prepared for today. We went into town and I made sure Naruto had a good breakfast…he really could eat. He ate one stand out of almost all their food. At least I was able to snatch a few riceballs before they were all gone. We then started to make our way to the arena.

I saw Naruto looking at me from the corner of my eye. I smiled as I looked forward again as we continued walking.

"Isamu Sensei…"

I looked at him and nodded. He took a few moments to ask his question.

"Do you think Sasuke will be there? Do you think he's all recovered?"

I nodded slowly as I put my hand on his shoulder.

"I think he will be there and yes I'm sure he is all recovered…you don't have to worry."

I smiled but, I didn't believe what I just told him. I really had no idea, I had no idea where they have been for the past month or if Sasuke was even recovered. I didn't have the heart to tell him. I needed him to be clear-headed going into this.

He smiled and nodded as he looked forward again and grabbed the straps of his bag.

"Hey, Isamu Sensei…thank you…thank you for being there for me and helping me train…I know the pervy sage was good too but…you've always been there for me so..."

His voice was shaky, I knew it was hard for him to say something like that. I didn't want to make too big of a deal out of it, but he really got to me. I smiled and felt my eyes water over.

"You're welcome, Naruto…"

We made it to the front of the arena, I stopped and sighed as I looked up. It was a huge arena and there were so many people going to be there…too many if you ask me. I patted Naruto on the back because this was where we parted ways.

"Naruto, you do what we taught you this past month and you'll be fine…you got this…now go make me proud!"

He smiled and nodded as he ran off into the entrance. He had to go make sure he was all set for when he was called. I followed behind and made my way up the stairs to the viewing area. I made my way around until I found Sakura. When I saw her, I made my way down and stood next to where she was sitting. I looked over to greet her and saw Ino sitting on the opposite side of her.

"Isamu Sensei!"

She jumped up and hugged me in her excitement. I laughed as I hugged her back.

"It's nice to see you too Sakura…how have you been?"

She sat back down looking out to the arena; her smile faded. I knew what was bothering her, I put my hand on her shoulder and squeezed it.

"He'll be here Sakura…don't worry too much."

She nodded as she turned her attention to Ino I began to look around. I didn't see any trace of Kakashi or Sasuke anywhere…I was also eyeing out all the anbu stationed in the arena. I furrowed my brow as I crossed my arms…only eight? That is no where near enough for an arena this size. I hope the old man knows what he is doing. WIth all that has been happening lately….we really need more defenses.

I looked around and began to get a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach. I couldn't put my finger on what exactly it was. I didn't like this…so I am going to be on my guard. I saw Sakura and Ino staring up at me so I looked back down.

"Isamu Sensei?...are you okay? Your eyes…"

I lifted my hand to the side of my face. I closed my eyes trying to calm myself down. I knew what she meant and I could see the fear in Ino.

"I'm fine Sakura…it's just been a long morning…"

I smiled but when I saw her wide eyes, I followed her gaze. She was staring at my arm. I had forgotten about that and quickly moved it to behind my back and smiled nervously. Sakura looked at me for a few moments and gave me a sunken smile as she turned back to face the arena. I heard Genma Shiranui announce the start of the finals. The first match was Naruto and Neji…I won't lie I was very nervous about this match. I saw how Neji fought against Hinata and that Byakugan…that was a powerful kekkei genkai if used properly. He did so much damage to Hinata, I felt bad. He could have killed her if they didn't stop him first. I just hope it doesn't happen again with Naruto.

I saw the two face each other down in the arena as I leaned in a little closer. We were high up so it was hard to see so I did my best. I could see that Sakura and Ino were on edge. I saw Choji pass by and went to sit next to Ino. He had a few bags full of snacks, I smirked a little. Genma gave the go and the two started their battle. I held my hand up to my mouth and felt anxiety all over my body. I saw how Neji started hitting every point of Naruto's chakra release. I gasped when I saw Naruto fall to the ground. Neji really went in with all he had. I saw Sakura and Ino gasp while they leaned forward in their seats. I shook my head; I peered down, staring intently at Naruto. I wanted him to get up, I wanted him to beat Neji. I saw him slowly lift himself from the ground. I smiled as I saw him get to his feet, there you go…now kick his ass Naruto! Naruto stood and put a sign in front of him. His eyes were closed, I knew exactly what he was doing. He was tapping into the 9 tails chakra, I could feel the increased chakra power radiate from him. He was able to use his shadow clones to get the slip-on Neji. He fooled Neji into thinking one of his clones was the real him as he went underground. He popped up right from under Neji and caught him under the chin lifting him high up into the air. Neji fell to the ground unconscious and Naruto was announced the winner of the first round.

I heard everyone around me, they were all surprised and had no idea he was this powerful. I was even surprised and I already saw him defeat the toad boss. I saw Sakura turn back to me with a big smile on her face.

"Wow Isamu Sensei! He did good! You guys must have trained hard this past month huh?"

I nodded as I crossed my arms. I watched him leave the arena and start to make his way back up to the viewing area.

"Yes we did…it was a long month but he really has improved…"

Sakura smiled and turned back to Ino. I heard them start talking again. I smiled, it was nice to see them not fighting even if it was just for a short time. I heard my name being called out behind me so I turned around. I saw Naruto at the top of the stairs waving. I smiled making my way up the stairs until I was standing in front of him. I saw Shikamaru to the left of me so I smiled over at him.

"Isamu Sensei! Did you see that? I totally pummeled that Neji guy he didn't see what was coming!"

I sensed his chakra reserve was low and he was tired. From just looking at him you would have never guessed. He was so happy and excited that it overpowered what he just went through. I smiled and began to put my hand on his shoulder when suddenly he came in and wrapped his arms around me. I was taken by surprise so I had my arms lifted but after a moment I lowered them and returned the hug. I smiled down as I ruffled his hair, as I looked up I caught Shikamaru staring at us. He caught my eyes and averted his gaze as his face turned red.

"You did great Naruto…you really did me proud out there…you were amazing!"

He pulled away looking up at me with his goofy grin as I patted him on the shoulder. I took a step up and stood next to him and Shikamaru as we waited for the next match to be called. I looked around and still no sign of Kakashi or Sasuke…where could they be? Saskue and that Garra kid's match was supposed to be next. I saw Genma as he raised his hands before he spoke out to everyone.

"We are going to move on to the following match due to Sasuke Uchiha not being present…we move on to Kankuro and Shino…."

I crossed my arms and could feel the irritation. They better be here or Kakashi will never hear the end of this…ever. I looked over, I saw Shino making his way to the stairs until that Kankuro guy called out to Genma. He withdrew and forfeited the match…what was up with these sand village genin? I looked back to Shino as he went back to where he was originally standing. That meant he automatically moved on. I turned my attention back down to Genma who was announcing the next match.

"Since Kankuro has withdrawn we will now move on to the next match which will be Shikamaru and Tamari…"

I turned my attention over to Shikamaru who was sighing and complaining.

"What a drag…they really didn't waste any time getting to my match did they…"

I smirked, well he did have a point but it wouldn't have moved this fast if Sasuke was here. I can't believe they are moving it along this quickly. I then overheard Shikamaru saying something about him withdrawing too. Naruto did not like the sound of that. suddenly I saw Naruto holding Shikamaru going to the end of the railing. Naruto threw Shikamaru over the railing and into the arena. My mouth dropped as I ran over to Naruto and leaned over the railing.

"Naruto! What were you thinking? You can't just throw someone over the railing like that!"

I saw Shikamaru land just fine, but still. That gave me a minor heart attack! Naruto looked at me shrugging his shoulders.

"He was going to withdraw! I couldn't let him do that! He needs to beat that, Tamari!"

I sighed shaking my head as I planted my face into my hand. Sometimes I just don't understand what goes through his head…I peered over and he was intently staring down in the arena cheering Shikamaru on. I laughed, it was good that he was able to be supportive of his other genin but he really needed to learn boundaries.

Shikamaru and Tamari were ready as Genma gave the go. The match was long and at times I didn't understand what Shikamaru was doing. I then remembered what Asuma had told me and Kurenai about him. He was lazy but he was an amazing strategist. He even had an IQ of over 200. I remembered and wasn't too worried because I knew he was trying to plan out his strategy for the battle. I heard Ino and Choji talking about how one thought he was going to give up and the other didn't.I wasn't sure what he was going to do…I was hoping he wouldn't, but I didn't know Shikamaru that well.

The battle went on for some time. I would turn around and look for Kakashi here and there, but I couldn't find a trace of him. I was starting to get worried but also irritated. I had to keep telling myself…he's always late he's never on time for anything. I wouldn't be surprised if they showed up last minute. I looked back down, I saw that Shikamaru's shadow possession jutsu took a hold of Tamari. He got her! He was able to do it through the hole in the ground Naruto made earlier. He got her pushed back enough so that he could use the shadow from the ground. I smirked clapping my hands together; he sure was smart! Asuma wasn't wrong about that. My smile faded as I lowered my hands. Shikamaru held his hand up and forfeited the match. Naruto looked back with confusion, I shrugged my shoulders and then It hit me. His shadow possession jutsu wouldn't last forever and Tamari would have gotten to him once it was released. That means he knew when it was time to call quits before getting in too deep…well played Shikamaru.

Just as the match was being called, I heard a familiar voice from behind me. I saw Sakura and Ino look behind and I saw them smile. I turned my head too, I couldn't believe who I saw, it was Guy and Lee! Lee still looked banged up and was walking with a crutch. The spirit and determination that was flowing from him was amazing. I smiled big while I ran up to them. I hugged Guy and everyone looked at me in shock. I could sense Guy's confusion but I didn't care I was just happy to see him…to see them both. I pulled away looking down at putting my hand on his shoulder. He looked from me up to Guy. Guy's face was immensely red which made Lee's face red. I giggled as I held Lee close in a soft hug, they were both speechless.

"I am so happy to see you both here…I am happy to see you up and walking Lee…how are you feeling?"

I softened my eyes and smile as I asked, it looked like Lee's demeanor softened.

"I...I am feeling just fine Isamu Sensei thank you for asking!"

I nodded and smiled as I heard the nervousness coming from his voice. I turned my gaze to Guy, he averted right away and his face was still bright red.

"How are you, Guy? I didn't think I would see you two here."

He smiled and patted Lee on the back giving me a thumbs-up.

"Us not be here? There was no way we could miss this! Lee wanted to cheer on his fellow genin of course!"

I smiled turning my head back to the arena which had been cleared out. I saw Shikamaru making his way back to where we were standing. Naruto ran right up to him. He started yelling at Shikamaru, and Shikamaru just brushed him off as he leaned against the railing.

"Isamu Sensei…did Sasuke and Garra already compete?"

I looked back down at Lee and shook my head, which reminded me I still haven't seen either him or Kakashi anywhere.

"No…they had to maneuver some of the matches to give them time to come…Sasuke and Kakashi are still not here."

I could hear the irritation in my tone. I shook my head as I looked back at Guy. He had closed his eyes and sighed.

"Well…it's just like Kakashi to be late and make everyone wait up on him."

I rolled my eyes and smirked, yeah no kidding. He was very late though…I wonder how much longer they will hold this off. I saw Sakura and Ino wave at Lee. They said their hello's and they got to talking about the previous matches. I heard Lee gasp at the conversation about Naruto and Neji's match. He was baffled and so was Guy to hear that Naruto was able to defeat Neji in the first round. Guy came to my side and put his hand on my shoulder as he leaned in closer to my ear.

"Did Naruto really defeat Neji? How is that possible?"

I frowned, it was sad to hear that everyone had such low expectations of him. I shook it off as I smiled up at Guy.

"Yes he did…he actually tapped into the 9 tails chakra and caught Neji by surprise…so he was able to knock Neji out right from under him."

I smirked and saw Lee jerk around. I saw the awe on his face. I crossed my arms smiling in achievement because I was the one who helped him get prepared for this…well...okay not fully, Jiraiya had a big part in it too…but he wasn't here to protest. My face turned to a concerned state as I felt a weird gust of wind. I looked around and I saw everyone else had felt it too. I looked up back to the middle of the arena. I saw leaves falling everywhere and were being swept softly by the wind. It was weird because it wasn't just normal wind…it was coming from the middle of the arena.

Suddenly In a large gust of wind and massive grouping of leaves Sasuke and Kakashi appeared in the middle of the arena. I saw them standing back-to-back. Kakashi was holding his porno…and Sasuke had his right arm completely bandaged up and a thin black leather strap wrapped around the bandages. I leaned out to try and get a better look. It wasn't working because that's all I could see. I scoffed, I can't believe they made it by just a few moments…I am going to kill Kakashi when he comes up here.

I heard Genma announce the match and called down Garra. I looked around and couldn't find that weird kid anywhere. I couldn't see Naruto or Shikamaru anymore either. I saw Lee start to make his way closer to the railing and Guy followed behind him. I knew this was the match that Lee wanted to see the most. Since Garra defeated him he has wanted to see how Sasuke would fare against Garra. I continued to stare down in the middle of the arena looking at the different exits waiting for the Garra kid to show up. I was startled by an all too familiar voice behind me. Kakashi had teleported and was now standing only a foot behind me. He placed his hand on my shoulder. I jerked myself around, he lifted his hand and rubbed the back of his neck nervously. I saw Guy turn around and gave Kakashi a scolding look.

"Hello everyone…sorry I'm late you wouldn't believe the traffic…thankfully we weren't too late."

I crossed my arms and saw Sakura shoot Kakashi a scolding glance.

"Kakashi Sensei! We thought you would never come! You never even reached out…"

I let my arms down, my face softened as I saw the sadness come across Sakura's eyes.

"Oh yes…I'm sorry about that… I and Sasuke were very busy training and it must have completely slipped my mind…"

I rolled my eyes looking away back to the arena. Wow…what an ass…he really did not have a way with words. I saw Sakura from the corner of my eye as she got calmer loosening up.

"It's…it's okay Sensei…I don't mind."

I made my way over to her putting my hand on her shoulder. She looked up and gave me a half-hearted smile. I knew now wasn't the time to push the subject. I darted my gaze back to Kakashi to give him my death glare until…I saw his wide eye. I followed his gaze back to my arm; my right arm was exposed on Sakura's shoulder. I tried jerking my arm down but before I could hide it Kakashi grabbed onto my wrist. He turned his back and began pulling me up the stairs. He was pulling me hard, so I wasn't able to fight him. I turned around and saw Guy, Lee, and Sakura all shooting me worried glances. I shrugged quickly and shot them a reassuring smile before Kakashi pulled me to the top of the stairs and into the hallway next to us. I saw him look around, as he turned to face me he let my wrist go. I grabbed my wrist and started rubbing it, he had way too tight of a grip on me.

"What the hell was that for? You can't just grab me like that and not say anything!"

His eye was still wide but this time I saw worry and fear. It wasn't anger…and I felt the worry fall from him. I stopped there relaxing my face; I averted my gaze, seeing him like that made me uncomfortable. It made me feel bad that I had worried him so much he had to do that. He grabbed my right wrist again, this time much softer and more delicate. He lifted it up so it was at eye level for both of us. I had to force my eyes back up to meet his.

"What is this Isamu…what happened to you? I thought that sage was supposed to be protecting you and helping? Not letting…this happen…"

He let my arm go, as it fell I grabbed it and looked down. I traced the white dragon's body with my fingers and squeezed.

"This…wasn't his fault Kakashi…"

I slowly looked back up and I could see that fear and worry turn into irritation.

"Then whose fault was it Isamu? This isn't normal… this wasn't how you were when I…when I left…"

He had trouble saying that last part. He crossed his arms and kept his eye glued on me. I shrugged and sighed as I placed my fingers up to my temple.

"It was mine Kakashi…I don't know what exactly happened…we were doing a summoning exercise and Jiraiya wanted me to demonstrate for Naruto…since I had never done a summoning jutsu before I had no idea what to expect…"

I looked to the side and back down as I hid my arms behind my back. I heard Kakashi sigh as he stepped in closer. I looked up and could see the worry back in his eye. I pulled my right arm back out and traced the white marks with my finger.

"When I completed my summoning there was a large cloud of smoke that appeared. When it faded there were three black wolves…they looked like they were made of black smoke with red glowing eyes. The leader came closer and bit down on my arm…it burnt but when he released it…this is what happened. I heard Oni and he said that he sent them for me…There wasn't much else. The only thing I can think of is, this is the contract between me and the wolves…I don't know…they just disappeared and this stayed."

Kakashi took my hand and held it in his as he lowered our arms. He put his other hand up to my cheek and caressed it softly. I saw the outline of a soft smile but there was sadness behind it. I looked into his eye as I placed my free hand over his.

"I'm sorry Kakashi…I didn't expect it to happen…I didn't expect any of this to happen."

He tilted his head and I could see his confusion. I winced knowing that I said too much. Ididn't want to bring up the Orochimaru thing with him…

"What do you mean…was there more than this? What else happened?"

His tone became dark and serious. I sighed as I let go of his hand and stepped back.

"Yes…while we were at the springs at the beginning of our trip…Orochimaru showed up…I thought he was going to take me but Jiraiya was able to chase him off…"

I felt fear take over as I remembered that night when Orochimaru had me pinned against the wall…and me…completely helpless. I closed my eyes and I felt a tear fall down the side of my face. I winced as I crossed my arms and squeezed myself. I felt Kakashi pull me into his chest and wrapped his arms around the middle of my back. He held me close, I could hear his heartbeat while my head was pressed against his chest. It was racing and it made me feel bad, I couldn't open my eyes or look up at him. I felt him run his fingers through my hair holding my head close. He lowered his head and rested his chin on the top of mine. For that moment it felt like time had stopped and we were the only two people in the world. I wrapped my arms around the upper part of his waist and held him tight. I missed him this past month. when I was attacked and he wasn't there…I wanted to call out to him.

"I am sorry Isamu…I am sorry I wasn't there for you…that you had to go through all of that…I won't leave you again…I promise I'll be here for you...right by your side…I'll protect you no matter what… that is my promise to you."

I looked up at him with wide eyes. I saw even his eye was watering over…I saw a tear fall down the side of his face as he closed his eye. He held me close, his grip did not loosen one bit. I haven't seen him cry since…since Obito and Rin. He had become even more cold and distant from everyone around him. He was distant from me for some time too…that's when he was placed in the Anbu black ops and we went our separate ways.

Seeing him now, how vulnerable he is made my stomach drop but my heart flutter. I lifted my hand wiping the tear away with my thumb with a saddened smile. He opened his eye and looked directly into mine. I then realized how much I cared for him…and how much he cared for me. I took my fingers softly grabbing his mask. I pulled it down exposing the rest of his face. He had a small smile never taking his eye off of me. I leaned in slowly and kissed him, I closed my eyes as my hand found its way to the back of his neck. His kisses felt like we had been apart for so long and this was our last moment together. I never wanted it to end, but I knew it had to. We had to return and get back to the viewing area so we could watch Sasuke and Garra's match. I released the kiss stepping back slowly from the embrace.

Kakashi pulled his mask back up and I smiled at him as I felt my face get hot.

"We..should probably get back…"

He nodded and I turned around to start making my back the way we came but suddenly I felt him grab my hand, so I turned around. His eye was wide, I felt his anxiety. He released my hand and rubbed the back of his neck. I put one of my hands on my hip. I stood there for a few moments waiting for him to say something but he never did.

"Did you need something Kakashi?"

He nodded slowly as he looked back at me with a nervous eye.

"I just…wanted to tell you…that…"

I nodded as I felt my heart begin to race again. I was anxious to hear what he was going to say. I then turned to look behind me as I heard Naruto yelling my name. I saw him with his hands on his knees trying to catch his breath. I also saw Shikamaru come up behind, also trying to catch his breath.

I ran over to them looking down with worried eyes. I put my hands on Naruto and Shikamaru's shoulders.

"What's going on you two? Why are you so out of breath?"

Naruto looked up with fear-filled eyes and I bent down so that I was at eye level with the two.

"We…we were in the staircase looking for you guys when we saw that…Garra…there were two shinobi that looked like they were going to attack him and then all of a sudden…."

Naruto cut off shaking his head so I looked over at Shikamaru to see if he would finish Naruto's sentence. He looked me in the eye and stood up, so I did too. I felt Kakashi come up behind me and he was staring at Shikamaru.

"He just…pulled them in and…killed them…I have never seen someone kill with no emotion…no real effort…that guy is inhuman…"

Naruto stood up and nodded in agreement. I looked back to Kakashi, he gave me his normal emotionless stare. He can change so quickly…It was scary to be honest. He shrugged and crossed his arms as I rolled my eyes and grabbed the two boys. I held them by their shoulders one on each side. We walked back down the stairs to where we were standing before. Kakashi made his way next to Guy, I was standing in front of them with the two boys in front of me against the railing. We were all watching below as Sasuke was getting ready and Garra made his sand defense. He enclosed himself in a large ball of rock-hard sand. I turned my gaze and saw Sauske crouching on the side wall of the arena. I saw him undoing the leather strap around his right arm. It fell to the ground and so did the bandages. I squinted my eyes, without knowing I pushed the two boys aside so I could lean against the railing. My eyes went wide as I turned my head around slowly. I shot Kakashi a death glare and he looked at me and then back to the arena like he didn't even notice. I turned around and walked over so that I was in front of him. I was a step lower so I had to lean my head back to look up at him.

"Kakashi…you did not…you taught Sasuke the chidori?"

Everyone turned their attention to Kakashi. He looked around for a moment and back to the arena. He didn't show any kind of emotion or acknowledgment of what I asked. I put my hands on my hips staring him down until he closed his eye and sighed.

"Yes…I taught Sasuke the chidori…now everyone shut up and watch."

Everyone turned their attention back to the arena…except me. I kept my eyes locked with Kakashi's. He stared at me for a moment while tilting his head. I can't believe he taught Sasuke the chidori…That was the one jutsu that he never copied from anyone. The one jutsu that was his own…he wouldn't even teach me when I begged him to. He taught me a different lightning release technique but never his…why would he teach Sasuke?

I saw him turn his attention away, I crossed my arms as I watched Sasuke gather the lightning in his right hand and start running down the wall with impeccable speed. He was so fast I could barely keep up! Suddenly he was at the sand defense making it through all of the spikes Garra made. He then penetrated the sand and his whole right arm was inside the defense. I couldn't tell if he hit Garra or not. He stood there for a few moments not moving a muscle. I became uneasy; I felt a massive release of chakra but it wasn't normal chakra…it was a spirits chakra. I stepped back as I saw Sasuke jump back away from the sand defense. I looked over to Genma who was standing there watching. I didn't see a trace of him going to step in any time soon. Suddenly I saw something strange and large shoot out of the hole in the middle of the sand defense. I looked closer, after a few moments I realized it was an arm…but not Garra's arm…it was the sand spirits' arm. That boy has the Shukaku spirit inside of him…I understand now. I understood that look in his eye now…it was Sukaku's blood lust coming through. I saw the arm swipe and almost catch Sasuke and then retreated into the defense. I knew Garra was off…but I would have never guessed the one tail was inside of him…there were so many spirits sealed inside these young genin. I shook my head holding my hand to my chest; I then felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked up with saddened eyes. It was Kakashi, he was squeezing my shoulder but continued to watch the middle of the arena. I saw him bend down and get close to my ear.

"It's alright…Sasuke will be just fine…don't worry."

I shook my head and shot him a small smile; it wasn't really Sasuke I was worried about. I was worried about the one tail fully exposing itself and wreaking havoc in the arena. With Naruto it was different, he didn't know how to access the 9 tails fully just yet. He has been strong enough to keep the 9 tails in check. This boy is fully aware of the one-tailed spirit and knows exactly how to summon and released it and its chakra. That is what scares me…this boy is so angered with such a large want to kill that Shukaku could be released any moment.

I grabbed onto Kakashi's arm and held him close as I pulled him down so his face was right next to mine.

"It's not Sasuke I'm worried about Kakashi…that Garra boy has Shukaku sealed within him…if that spirit is released Sasuke won't be the only one that we will have to worry about…"

Kakashi nodded but didn't say anything as he stood back up. Suddenly a feather fell right in front of me. I looked up into the sky and saw multiple feathers begin to fall all throughout the arena. The feathers fell fast and even more began to appear. I looked around and saw the people sitting in the stands start to get drowsy and started falling asleep one by one. I looked up at Kakashi and Guy. We all nodded, this was a genjutsu. I closed my eyes putting a sign up and released the genjutsu. Kakashi and Guy did the same. I saw Sakura release it and shikamaru and Naruto fell to the ground passed out.

"Kakashi, Guy! What's going on!"

My eyes were wide with panic, I dropped to my knees and lifted Naruto's head up onto my lap. I began to release the genjutsu for him. His eyes slowly opened as he jerked up rubbing his head. I moved over to Shikamaru. I placed his head on my lap and began to release him. His eyes began to open as he slowly sat up rubbing his head. They both looked very confused, suddenly I felt a disturbed chakra presence behind me. I took the two boys lunging to the side as a kunai flew straight past us. I rolled and let the boys go as I got to my feet grabbing my kunai in a defensive stance.

"You two all right? You have to keep your guard up and heads down…we are being attacked!"

The boys nodded as we saw Sakura make her way over. She was also holding her kunai. I saw some shinobi start to attack Kakashi and Guy, they were busy focused on them. I looked around to see if I could spot any other shinobi that looked out of place. I locked eyes with an anbu, he stood there and didn't move an inch. I never moved my eyes from him, I didn't like the feeling I got. It was like his chakra was being masked, anbu don't normally mask theirs. He started to move and make his way across the hallway and to the stairs heading down to the arena entrance. I tried following him, but I got held back. Kakashi grabbed me, and I stopped in my tracks.

"What do you think you're doing? I can't let you leave…not with us having no idea what is going on."

I saw two shinobi appear out of nowhere and began lunging at us. Kakashi took on one and I took the other. I dropped down tripping the shinobi. Once he was on his back I stabbed my kunai in his throat. I left it there pushing it in further until I knew he was dead. I looked over, Kakashi finished off his as he stood up and faced me. I saw blood all over his hands and splattered up his arms.

"Where were you going?"

He asked me with a loud annoyed voice. I got to my feet while trying to catch my breath.

"I saw an anbu…I don't think he was truly an anbu. He was masking his chakra and we locked eyes…I didn't get a good from him…"

Kakashi grabbed my arms and picked me up, throwing me over his shoulder. He dropped down slashing another shinobi's leg with his kunai. The shinobi fell to the ground. Kakashi stood up, he jumped over the shinobi and went up the stairs with me still over his shoulder.

"What are you doing Kakashi! Let me go! Why are you doing this!"

He took me over to where Naruto, Sakura, and Shikamaru were all standing in a defensive circle. He held me close and never let me go.

"You three…I have your first A-ranked mission since the village hidden in the mist…you three are going to follow Garra and Sasuke…we need to ensure that sand spirit doesn't get released. We will stay here keeping watch and ensure everyone here is safe…we are going to try and figure out what exactly is going on…we will catch up to you as soon as we can…understood?"

I couldn't see their faces because I was facing the opposite way. I did hear them mutter altogether. I assumed that was agreeing to Kakashi's mission. I saw two shinobi looking up at us, so I grabbed my kunai. I closed my eyes focusing my chakra into the kunai. When it was fully charged I threw it at the first shinobi. It went straight through his neck and traveled to the other shinobi going straight into his chest. They both fell to the ground as I saw Kakashi looking over his shoulder to see what I was doing.

I saw the three-speed past me and disappear. I saw Guy coming up the stairs as he finished off the shinobi on the lower level. He looked from my face to Kakashi and got red.

"I'm not going to ask…but…what is going on Kakashi? We are being attacked but by who!"

I slightly turned so I could see Guy as Kakashi was still holding me. His grip suddenly got tighter around my lower waist.

"I saw sand symbols on most of these shinobi…I think it's the sand village…but why would they be doing this?"

We all got quiet for a few moments, with no shinobi in sight we had time to get our thoughts together. I pounded on Kakashi's back as he looked over at me.

"Can you let me go? It would be best if all three of us were able to fight don't you think?"

He groaned as he dug his fingers into my side.

"You aren't going to run are you?"

I rolled my eyes, that's why he was holding me hostage on his shoulder…he thinks I'm going to run after that anbu.

"No Kakashi…I'm not going to run…"

He nodded as he slowly lowered me down to my feet; I fixed my shirt so it wasn't riding up. I then looked around now that I could see better. I ran my hand through my hair as I looked at all of the dead sand and sound shinobi all over the stands.

"I can't believe this…"

I was speechless and worse I was worried…I was worried for those three and Sasuke. I looked down at the arena and I saw that Garra and Sasuke were no longer there. No doubt Sasuke went after Garra alone. I turned my gaze to the stand where the Hokage was sitting and…he wasn't there!

"They have the Hokage!...of course everyone in one place…all distracted by the finals…it was the perfect time to strike! Why weren't there more anbu? Why were there not more defenses!"

I could feel myself begin to get more angered every second. I felt the burning in my throat and chest come on quickly. Suddenly I felt something graze my left cheek, I felt blood running down the side of my face. I put my finger on it and wiped it away. I called Oni, I asked for his help and he lent it to me without hesitation. I was not going to let the Sand and Sound village get away with this! I must try to protect the village.

I turned around as I saw the smoke rise from my nose and mouth. I set my sight on the shinobi that threw the kunai. He looked back with wide eyes. I took a quick look at the other two shinobi next to him. I then saw Kakashi and Guy start to come in closer, but before they could grab me, I jumped with great speed landing on the middle shinobi. I dug my claws into his face and heared him scream in pain. The other two shinobi both ran towards me and struck with their kunai. One was shoved into my shoulder the other into my leg. I screamed in pain as I jerked around grabbing one of the other shinobi by his leg. I swiftly picked him up and threw him over the railing. The last remaining shinobi was backing away slowly with his kunai lifted. I put my right hand up placing two fingers in front of my mouth and closed my eyes. When I opened them I inhaled deeply, when I exhaled I shot fire at the shinobi. It was large enough to devour him entirely. When the flame died the shinobi fell to the ground burned and lifeless. I stood up as I didn't see any more within range. I felt a hand on my shoulder so I jerked around and saw Kakashi and Guy standing there with wide eyes. Kakashi had his hand on my shoulder but let it go when I looked at him.

"Do not try to stop me...This is something I must do…they will pay….they will all pay for what they have done."

My voice was dark and tainted but it wasn't my voice…no it was a mixture of mine and Oni's. I could feel him getting more powerful and excited from all of the blood around us. My vision turned red, my reasoning was clouded. I scanned the area and I saw him. I saw the anbu from before on the opposite side of the stairs. I could hear Kakashi and Guy behind me but I couldn't hear what they were saying. All I could hear was, kill him…over and over in my head. I ran with great speed to where the anbu was. He caught sight and began running away. He was fast so I could barely keep up with him.

I then felt a stinging pain in my shoulder so I stopped in my tracks. I turned my head over to locate what was causing the pain. There was a kunai sticking out of my right shoulder. I went to grab it but for some reason I couldn't move. I couldn't move my arms or my legs. My eyes went wide when I couldn't even move my head anymore. I heard multiple footsteps coming up behind me. My heart began to race because I had no way to defend myself. The footsteps got louder and louder so I kept my eyes still. I saw Kakashi and Guy come around to stand in front of me. Guy had crossed his arms and his face was lifeless. I moved my eyes to Kakashi who began coming closer. My eyes followed his every move. He got only inches from my face and his eye never left mine. He lifted his left hand putting it over my shoulder to grab the kunai. He grabbed it and pulled it out of my shoulder. I winced and closed my eyes in pain, it stung like no other kunai stab I have ever received. Kakashi lowered it and dropped it on the ground. He lifted his hand again but this time to cup my face. His eye went sad I even saw some fear. He tilted his head placing his forehead to mine. He closed his eyes and I felt calmness come over me. Even though I still couldn't move I felt enough strength to call back Oni. Once he was gone and I was clear-minded I opened my eyes and saw Kakashi lift his head.

"I'm sorry Isamu... but this was the only way….you don't understand. Even though Orochimaru is occupied with the Hokage it doesn't mean he's given up on capturing you. That Anbu you were chasing….he is working for Orochimaru. If you were to follow him alone he would have led you into a trap…I can't let that happen."

I understood what he was saying but, it still made me angry. I could have taken care of myself even if it was one of Orochimaru's gaurds.

"So what…we just stay here? We don't go to try and help the Hokage?"

This time Guy butted in, his voice was dark too.

"The Hokage can take care of himself we need to stay here and protect those around who are vulnerable…"

I looked over to Kakashi as he nodded in agreement.

"Okay…I'll stay…but I still can't move…"

Kakashi laughed nervously as he rubbed the back of his neck with a closed eye smile.

"Oh yes, about that…that kunai was laced with a paralyzer…so you are paralyzed and won't be able to move for some time…we weren't sure how long it would take for you to come back. That was the quickest solution we had."

I rolled my eyes in anger. I cant believe that they did that but then I realized he was right. I wasn't going to stop chasing that anbu no matter what…I felt a wave of sadness and guilt crash through me. I closed my eyes because I felt if I opened them I would start crying. I can't do that, not here when there are more important things at stake. I need to stay focused on the mission and the task at hand.

No matter what I told myself, nothing changed the feeling I had. Nothing changed how guilty I felt that I still couldn't control my emotions even if I can control Oni. How I can't seem to be reasonable or tactful. I go after whoever is in my way and that is reckless. I didn't understand why I couldn't fix this. I hated this damn spirit inside me more and more every day.

I felt a tear run down my face as I kept my eyes closed. I knew it was too late to hide my emotions because more started falling. I wanted to turn away and compose myself but I was still paralyzed. I then heard a soft voice that startled me.

"Isamu…open your eyes…"

I didn't want to but, I haven't heard Kakashi sound like this since we were on the waterfall mission. I started to open my eyes slowly. I saw a blurry Kakashi in front of me. He was close but I didn't see Guy behind him anymore. He knew what I was thinking because he looked behind himself after my eyes went that way.

"Don't worry Isamu…Guy is on the lookout right now he will buy us some time if any sound or sand ninja show up again…"

I saw him lift his hand softly wiping away the tears on my face. This made me want to cry even more. I tried to hold back as much as I could.

"Isamu, there is no reason to be upset…I know this wasn't ideal, I just wanted to make sure you were safe…after being away for the past month, coming back to seeing something bad happen to you…I can't bare the thought of losing you. I've lost everyone I've ever held dear to me. You are the one person that has always stayed by my side no matter what…you are still here and I will protect you with my life…because I love you Isamu.."

It all sent chills throughout my body, but the last part really hit my heart. He loves me, I'm thrilled that we share the same feelings toward each other. I just wish it was under better circumstances…but I know my life would never be normal.

I had the feeling come back to my body. I looked down as I started to move my fingers. Then I was able to lift my arms. I looked up at Kakashi, he was patiently waiting for me to give him my response. When I was able to move my legs I took a step forward and stumbled. Kakashi quickly came in catching me in his arms so I wouldn't hit the ground. I stood up wrapping my arms around his neck. I felt my eyes begin to water over. Thankfully I wasn't wearing makeup or I'd look like a train wreck right now.

"Kakashi…you are one of the few people that don't see me as a monster. You were there from the beginning. Even though you were cold and arrogant…you still are sometimes…but you saw me for who I was. No matter what happened or how hard things got you always stayed by my side. When we were apart…I knew you would come back to me. You have been the only one to truly save me from the darkness that has taken over… I just want to say thank you for everything, and that I love you too…more than anything in this world."

I could see his eye start to water over as he lowered his mask. He smiled and kissed me, more passionately than he ever has before. He held the back of my head while his other hand held my lower back pressing me into him. After a few moments we heard Guy run up so we let go and faced him.

"You too…you need to come now we have a major problem."

We looked at each other and nodded as we began running behind Guy. I was worried to see what we were going to run into. We continued to follow and as we began to slow down I looked around and didn't realize how far away from the arena we were. Guy stopped and turned to face us. I looked around and didn't see anything out of place, he just lead us to a side street next to the market area. I could see the damage from the sand and sound ninja but, there was nothing that seemed urgent.

I took a step back holding my kunai up in a defensive stance. Kakashi looked at me, I think we both had the same feeling. He then stood next to me in a defensive stance.

"What is this? There is nothing here? What is going on!"

Guy began to laugh, but it was a maniacal laughter. He held his hands up in a release sign. He released his transformation jutsu to reveal who he truly was. My eyes went wide as I lowered my arm. I shook my head and took another step back.

Shit, it was that damn anbu from earlier! What was he doing? What has he done with Guy? I placed my face in my hand shaking it slowly. This is what he wanted, for Kakashi and I distracted so he could get Guy and lure us out. How could I have been so foolish!

"It's you! What have you done with Guy?"

He laughed, when his true form was presented he still had the anbu cloak and mask on. He lifted his hand slowly removing his mask and lowered the hood of his cloak. I saw Kakashi step in front of me and I could see the tension and anger grow on his face.

"Kabuto…I knew Orochimaru's little right-hand man would be back…"

I was confused, I wasn't sure who this Kabuto was but Kakashi really did not like him. If it was true and he was working for Orochimaru, that must mean he was here for me.

I heard Kabuto laugh as he fixed his glasses.

"You are a sharp one Kakashi…I would expect nothing less from the great Copy Ninja…then again you did fall for this trap so maybe not as sharp…"

Trap? I looked around and saw multiple sand and sound ninja come down from their hiding places on top of the damaged buildings. I turned with my back to Kakashi so I could have a full view from behind us. I could see every ninja that was surrounding us so Kakashi was able to keep his eye on Kabuto. I leaned my back against Kakashi slightly turning my head to the side.

"I'm going to ask for Oni…just a little heads up."

I felt him nod so I closed my eyes as I put my hands up in a sign. I asked for Oni, he came to me and granted his chakra again. Once I was transformed I opened my eyes looking at all of the ninja facing me. None of them made a move but I did see them all crouch down in a defensive stance. I jumped from the spot I was in landing on one of the sand ninja forcing him to the ground. I made sure he was dead before standing to face the others. They all started charging after me, I began signing and called on a mud barrier to stop them from reaching me. I placed my back against the barrier and closed my eyes. I lifted my arm and made a fist, a large explosion happened behind the barrier. The backlash from the explosion caused the other ninja behind the barrier to go flying back. I released the barrier as I looked back and saw Kakashi had released his Sharingan and was in hand hand-to-hand combat with Kabuto. I charged after one of the other sound ninja as they were making their way to Kakashi. I signed and used my phoenix flower jutsu catch him and another ninja to the right in the fire's path.

I was trying to make my way to Kabuto when a gust of wind caught me by surprise forcing me back against the wall of one of the buildings. I slammed into it making another hole in the wall. I tried to get to my feet but I was forced down by…Kabuto? He had my arms pinned to the ground holding me down while on top of me. He smirked but didn't say a word. He let one of his hands go and with incredible speed, he hit my chakra release points. I felt everything shut off and immediately Oni was released. I had no chakra reserve flowing. The massive shut-off caused me to become dizzy as I started to see my surroundings spin. Kabuto hit another point on my body which made me paralyzed. Kabuto lifted me and threw me over his shoulder. I squinted my eyes and Kakashi was still fighting another Kabuto outside. I took the little energy I had and screamed out to Kakashi. He turned his head towards me and started darting after us. I tried to keep my eyes open for as long as I could, my sight never leaving Kakashi. He was starting to catch up, I could see he was forming his chidori. Kabuto looked behind but never stopped. I heard him scoff as he kept moving forward. I heard Kakashi yell at him,

"Kabuto! Let her go!"

Kabuto stopped on a tree branch and Kakashi stopped on one not too far from us. Kabuto turned to face him so I was unable to see Kakashi.

"You really think I would let her go? You don't scare me, plus I already have an advantage so you've already lost…"

Before Kakashi could say anything else everything around us disappeared. Kabuto teleported us from the tree branch. I tried to look around but everything was dark. The only light was coming from torches that were spaced apart on the walls. He kept me over his shoulder as he was walking us down a long hallway. I saw closed doors here and there but not much else. I wanted to get loose from him but I still couldn't move a muscle. I felt so helpless, I can't believe I let him get us like that. If I would have just been rational this never would have happened…I hated myself for being so stupid and reckless.

Suddenly Kabuto stopped as he opened a door to his right. He walked in closing the door behind us. He carried me over to a small bed that was in this dimly lit room. He laid me on my back. I looked up at him, I then began to look at my surroundings. I couldn't see much but I did see a long table behind him before he stepped in front of my view.

"Oh don't worry little dragon you'll see what that is for soon enough…"

His voice was lifeless and cold showing no emotion. He grabbed a strap that was harnessed to one of the upper bed posts. He wrapped it around my wrist and continued until both my wrists and ankles were strapped down. He closed his eyes and held up a hand sign. He touched each strap and they began to glow. My eyes went wide ready for pain but, it never came.

"This isn't going to hurt you…this is to ensure you don't get away. It's a chakra sealing jutsu…it ensures no chakra is able to be used while keeping you weak…we don't want you escaping…"

He smirked walking back to the door we came in. He turned his head slightly, I could faintly see a smirk on his face.

"You won't be alone long…"

He chuckled closing the door behind him as he left the room. When I sensed he was gone I started to look around again. I could barely see anything. The room was lit by a small fire lamp on the long table across the room. I tried to move, but I was still paralyzed. All I could do was stare up at the ceiling and think about where I was and what happened to Kakashi and everyone else. I couldn't help think If I just stayed calm I could have helped keep everyone safe…now Kakashi was driven from the arena…I have no idea what's happened to Guy…and I'm…wherever the hell I am. This damn sealing Jutsu. Kabuto paralyzing me has left me helpless. He must have ensured Oni was cut off because he never answered me when I called.

I looked up at the ceiling and I felt my eyes begin to water over. Kakashi…I am sorry…I am sorry for being stupid. Then…I thought about Naruto…Sakura and Shikamaru. I hoped they were still okay. I hoped they didn't have to face that sand spirit…I'm not sure if they would even know what to do. This was an awful situation…how am I going to get out of this.

Kakashi's POV

I stood there and before I could move a muscle they were gone. Kabuto teleported away with Isamu. I shook my head as I jumped over to the branch they were standing on. I looked around to see if there was any trace of them but... nothing. I slowly stood up and closed my eyes. I took my right arm and made a fist. I slammed my fist against the tree as I moved my headband down. I used a lot of Chakra and I didn't have much left. I heard a loud explosion behind me so I jerked around and saw a large cloud of smoke come from the village.

"Damn it…he got me too far from the village…."

I began jumping from tree to tree with great speed until I made it back to the arena. When I came back, I looked around trying to see where Guy was. I found him lying on the ground unconscious in the stands. I ran up to him putting my hand on his shoulder. It was a genjutsu and he wasn't able to release it in time.

I left my hand on his shoulder as I closed my eyes. With my free hand I signed to release the jutsu. Once it was released I stood up waiting for Guy to come to. I saw his eyes slowly open, when he was awake he jumped up and looked around.

"What happened? Where is that anbu..where…is Isamu?"

I looked to the ground rubbing the back of my neck.

"She was…taken by Kabuto…he was the person behind that anbu mask. He is working for Orochimaru. I tried chasing after them but…he teleported them away before I could get close…"

I felt my stomach drop and my heart sink. It hadn't sunk in until just now. I could only imagine where they took her or…what they are doing. I looked back up at Guy and the fear turned into rage.

"I have to go after them…I can't let him get away with taking her…who knows what they are going to do!"

Guy looked at me and his brow furrowed. He closed his eyes and sighed.

"Orochimaru is still fighting with the Hokage…which means he hasn't gotten to her yet… where would we even start? We have a duty to protect our village."

I put my hands on my waist looking around. I caught sight of Kurenai who saw us. She ran over and stood next to Guy. She looked at Guy and then to me as her eyes went wide.

"Kakashi…Guy…what's wrong it looks like you both just saw a ghost or something…"

I shook my head crossing my arms. I looked at her with a stern stare.

"Isamu was taken…by Kabuto…he's working for Orochimaru…I tried keeping up but he was too quick and teleported before I could get close."

Kurenai's eyes saddened as she looked to the ground.

"Where is Asuma, was he not with you?"

She shook her head pointing in the direction of the forest where the three genin went.

"He was... he said he had a feeling that Shikamaru was in trouble so he headed off in that direction …I stayed back to keep watch over the other side of the arena…everyone is unconscious but it looks like none of the sand or sound ninja are going after them…"

I scoffed looking up to the building where the barrier was and Lord Hokage and Orochimaru were.

"They wouldn't because that's not their mission…their mission was to create a distraction and keep all of the village's ninja occupied while Orochimaru went after the Hokage…"

She furrowed her brow putting her hand up to her chin.

"Then why was Isamu taken when she wasn't the target?"

I sighed placing my hand up to my temple in frustration and impatience.

"Lord Hokage is the main target…but Isamu has always been a target for Orochimaru…he wants the dragon spirit just like he wants the Uchiha power…"

I grew irritable, the more we stood around talking the more time passed for something bad to happen to Lord Hokage, the other shinobi, and Isamu. I looked at Kurenai then back to Guy. I was in conflict, I knew our sworn duty is to be here protecting the village…but I couldn't leave Isamu…and who knows how long it will take to find her.

"I know it's our duty to be here protecting the Hokage and the Village... but I can't do that and leave Isamu. I can't continue to wonder what they could be doing to her…I have to go after her…I don't expect either of you to come…"

Kurenai held her hand out as she closed her eyes. I stopped talking waiting for her to speak.

"No Kakashi…she is one of my closest friends…I can't bare the thought of her being gone or what they are going to put her through…I'll come and we will bring her home safe."

Guy sighed loudly so both Kurenai and I shot our gaze to him. His eyes were closed as he crossed his arms.

"I'm going to come…there is no way I am going to let you outshine me to be the only hero…plus Isamu is close to me too I can't let her go that easily either."

I looked from Guy to Kurenai as I felt a wave of relief. I knew I couldn't do this alone but I wouldn't ask another shinobi to abandon their duties and break the rules to go after her. I never break the rules that is against my code. I made a promise though, that I would protect Isamu with my life. I'm not going to lose her…I'm not going to lose the only important person In my life.

"Okay, how are we going to start? You said you had no idea where they teleported to…"

Kurenai crossed her arms, I could see she was growing impatient. I lifted a kunai off the ground. The whole blade was covered in dry blood now. I held it up, both Guy and Kurenai looked at me confused.

"This was the kunai I stabbed in Isamu's shoulder…"

Kurenai wouldn't let me finish, her face grew red as she walked over and started to pummel me. Once she was finished she stepped back staring me down.

"Now that you're done Kurenai…This kunai is covered in her blood…I will call Urushi and have him track her…"

They both nodded and Kurenai relaxed some. She did come up to me staring me deep in the eye.

"Why did you stab Isamu…are you crazy?!"

I sighed closing my eye, thankfully Guy butted in and explained the whole situation. Once he was done she laughed nervously shooting me an apologetic look. Once they were done and focused again I completed my summoning jutsu. Urushi appeared and when I had his attention I bent down and held out the kunai.

"Urushi, I need you to get the sent off this Kunai. This is Isamu's blood…we need to track her down"

Urushi nodded beginning to sniff different parts of the kunai blade. He sat down which indicated he had her scent. I stood up pointing out towards the forest and the area where they teleported. Urushi nodded and stood in front of the opening that Guy made for the three genin earlier.

"Is everyone ready to move out?"

I looked back and saw Kurenai and Guy nod. I turned and gave Urushi the go and we set off.
