Greg 'Mouse' Gertiz x EMT!HalsteadReader

Mouse looked over at the break room, Jay was in there with you, his younger sister. Both of your brothers were older than you. You were dressed in your EMT uniform, you were currently assigned to Firehouse 51 to help Gabby and Sylvie. You laughed at something your brother said, Mouse heard the sound from his desk, and to him it was the perfect sound, light melodious, he wished that he had been the one to make you laugh. Instead he simply enjoyed the sound. Gabby walked up the stairs and watched from the top one as Mouse attempted to hide his attraction to you. "You know, you could just ask her out. I mean how long have you been pining over her? Since you met her?" Mouse jumped slightly, when she spoke. He twisted to face her, and scoffed "I don't pine." Gabby shrugged, "Don't hear you denying anything." Mouse attempted to correct both himself and Gabby by denying the way he felt about you. As he was explaining, he didn't sound very convincing, Gabby's phone rang. "Y/N!" The shout of your name made you snap your head over to the fiery woman. "Let's go!" You stood, hugged your brother quickly before dashing over to Gabby. You squeezed Mouse's shoulder on your way passed. "Bye Mouse." He blushed slightly, although you missed it. You and Gabby headed off to your callout.

Jay raised his eyebrows at Mouse's reaction, he sauntered over. "You okay there buddy?" Mouse stood hurriedly, his knee banging against the desk, jolting the objects placed on it. Jay's lips twitched at the flustered nature of his friend. "You alright there Mouse?" He teased. Mouse gave a jerky nod, sitting back down and once Jay had his back to him dropped his head in his hands, much to the amusement of the others who had been watching the entire display.

Voight, who hadn't seen the goings on, but missed nothing, left his office and with his usual baritone voice rumbled. "We've got a crime scene, shots fired at the docks. Two dead, one taken to Med. Let's go." The team stood and grabbed their jackets and guns, Voight stopped at Mouse's desk. "You too Mouse, we need to you to collect the laptops and tablets left at the scene." Mouse nodded grabbing his own coat.

Intelligence arrived on scene and Mouse spotted your ambulance waiting, with some uniforms. Jay spotted it to and ran over before coming back moments later, explaining you had treated and taken the survivor to Med. Kim left to talk to some witnesses with Atwater, Ruzek, Jay, Voight and Dawson were casing the scene.

Suddenly there was a series of shots, all Mouse could think was 'were you hurt?' He couldn't get to you and so ducked behind some scaffolding hoping that you would be okay. All of a sudden the scaffolding was knocked into him and caused him to stumble backwards. He pin wheeled his arms slightly in an attempt to regain balance. But he slipped and fell into the water below. The icy knives seemingly pierced him all over. He fought to hold his breath, his eyes began to feel heavy and soon they closed as a hand reached for his.

Mouse woke spluttering, he was soaking wet and coughed up more water. His chest felt tight and it ached. He wiped his mouth before opening his eyes. He blinked a few times clearing the water from them and was met with the worried faces of Intelligence, Gabby, Sylvie but more importantly you. "Hey." He spoke his voice hoarse from the trauma. His eyes were drawn to your worried pale face, in a flash your hands were cupping either side of his face and you had drawn him into a kiss, raising yourself up slightly from where you were kneeling. Before he could properly respond, you pulled away, hands flying to your lips. "I'm sorry...it's just...well...I thought you were dead." Mouse shook his head dazed, before he leaned up on his hand and used the other hand to pull you in for another kiss.

There was a general relieved sound of laughter from the gathered group. Mouse pulled away from your lips with great difficulty and looked at Jay worriedly. Jay was sopping wet having jumped in after his friend, he was wrapped in a blanket in an effort to keep him warm. Jay groaned good naturedly, "Dude that's my sister." Gabby promptly responded by whacking him on the arm, while Sylvie laughed. You replied with a quick quip, heat filling your cheeks. "Like I haven't caught you with your fair share of girls." The laughter renewed. Gabby helped you pull Mouse to his feet. "I'm taking these two to Med." She informed Voight, waving at both Jay and Mouse who were shivering with the cold wind. Voight nodded. As Sylvie and Gabby jumped in the front you helped Mouse and Jay into the back before following suit. When you turned to get some gear to help Mouse, Jay clapped him on the shoulder and gave him a wide smile showing that he approved of whatever your relationship with Mouse was or was going to be.
