Family of the Sunflower

Ever since Alektrona watched a movie about faeries, she always believed in supernaturals. When people told her there are no such things as supernatural, she always replied, "If there are no such things as supernaturals, where did the myths and legends come from? Imagination? Hallucination? I don't know! But I would love to know and meet one," She says it with a bright smile but, once she meets their confused gaze, she looks back at them with the same confusion as them. "I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who believes in spirits and faeries... right...? " And look at them expectation in her eyes. Her answer makes others fall speechless apart from her grandmother, who loves Greek mythology. Although Alek believes in the existence of supernaturals, she's never encountered one. God knows how many books she's read about Supernaturals. Alek talked to everything she sees and asks them, "When will you guys finally show up to me and start a conversation? I wouldn't tell anybody! I just want to meet you guys so that I couldn't die happily. So I'll be here, waiting for you guys to show up and talk to me." *********** Alek sneakily entered the room and was greeted by a boy facing toward the window opposite the door that she just entered. She thought he was Kai. She prepared to scare him. But before she tried to do anything, he snapped his neck to where she was standing. She was caught off guard. But what she saw next was enough for her brain to stop functioning. "What the..." Alek could not continue. The boy looked like her dead brother, Aether. *********** "They are not friendly, especially the Shiwasu." Astraea told her niece. "If you can't prove that you are able to replace her, then we are all doomed." Everyone was listening to her with serious faces, even the youngest looked like she knew that would be the end. "I will prove it." Alek spoke with determination in her eyes. ------------------ This is the story about shape-shifters and some parts are written in Japanese in roman alphabet as this book contains a little bit of Japanese culture and tradition. Let's Just Shift

As soon as those words left Jin's mouth, an unforgiving slap landed on his head from his younger twin brother. "Ow! What the heck?!"

"Shut up." That was Rin's reply.

"You are so cold..." Castor rubbed the spot on the head where he had been hit with a questionable look and wondered why he had to go through that.

Alek took a big gulp of air before she spoke with a firm tone. "I've told them. They want to consider. Now it's time to show them what we've got."

Every single person there looked at each other with confused gazes.

"What?" The girl asked.

Bia answered, "Sis, none of us here are pixie or fae."

Kai nodded and added, "Should call back Queen Tinka and the water fae."

"But I just said goodbyes to them about fifteen minutes ago It's going to be awkward." The older replied with a frown.

Her brother then coldly said, "Who cares?"

"I do."

"And only you. Besides, I think they'd be happy to help out."

Alek looked at her parents for help, but they seemed to be taking her brother's side as everyone else did.

"Okay." The girl cutly said that and made some space for her a little far from the group. But before she could even think of calling Tinka, she heard the voice from the other side.

[You need me, right?] It was the excited voice of the pixie queen. She sounded extremely happy to hear from Alek.

[...Yes] The shifter replied after taking a second to overcome her surprise.

[Yesss!! Then I'll be there with Pari in a second.] The pixie said. Alek could imagine Tinka almost turning into her pixie form from all the excitement she was containing.

[So you are together with Pari?]

[Oh, yes. I think I just made a new friend. I'll see you soon!] Tinka disconnected the call and in a millisecond as she promised, opened a portal next to the shifter and walked out together with the fae.

"I had nothing to do, so I invited her for a cup of tea." The black-haired woman said and looked over at the girl, with who she just had a conversation within their minds. She then walked over to the newly introduced supernaturals with a carefree smile. "Nice to meet officially meet you. I'm the queen of pixies, Tinka."

Hearing the term 'Queen', the boys hurriedly tried to kneel but was stopped by a series of giggles and tiny hands. "You don't have to do that."

Alexander and Melvin made a quick eye exchange with their best friend to confirm if the pixie's words were trusting. When they saw Alek nod subtly, they awkwardly smiled, not knowing how to act.

In front of them next to the queen, appeared the fae with dangerously shining eyes. "I'm Linnet-Parisa. A water faery. Nice to meet you. I hope we can have a very good time."

The two were on the verge of saying 'no thank you' to the fae but shut up, knowing that it wasn't the right situation.

"So faeries and pixies don't have wings?" Melvin asked as he peeked at the behind of the two supernaturals in front of him.

After hearing the translation of Alek, the queen replied, "Oh, we do. This is our human form." She smiled more after seeing Melvin's eyes widen. "Our natural form, in my case, pixie form. I have wings. The same goes to Pari. Do you want to see them?"

Melvin didn't wait for his friend to translate to know what the pixie asked. "Yes!! Yes, yes, yes!! I'd be so honoured!"

"All right. Step back, people." Tinka gestured to the group of people surrounding her with a suppressed smile. When she had enough space and no one was in reach of her magic, she shifted as soon as a flash of lightning. One second, she looked like a college girl and in a blink, there was no shadow of that figure. Instead, amidst the pink mist, there was the tiny mythological creature that every kid dreamed of at some point.

Alek peeked at her friend, expecting them to curse like always, but saw them gawking at the winged creature, flying effortlessly and cutely.

As soon as Tinka was shifted, she flew to the boys and circled around them a couple of times, leaving a tail of hot pink mist.

Nature was truly magical. A pixie just flying was truly a piece of art. People like Johan and Panacea, who have witnessed countless pixies in their natural form, were also enchanted. Even a fellow winged creature, Pari the fae, was amused at the perfect balance of the queen's gracefulness and playfulness.

After Tinka felt that she had shown just enough, she flew back to the spot and shifted back. She took a deep breath and asked, "What do you think?"

Although that question was meant for Alexander and Melvin, Bia answered in their place since the two were still recovering from the shock. "I've never seen a pixie's natural form. They are always in the human form..."

The pixie nodded, "Our natural form is used when we are required to use a lot of our powers. Most of the time, we like to stay this way for convinience and security."

"Ahh," The shifter said in understanding.

"Yep." Tinka looked back at the boys and said, "So, Melvin, is it? You are a pixie and what you saw now would be the general look of us. Since there are no types of pixie apart from dark pixies, there wouldn't be much difference between you and me."

The blonde silently nodded and showed his thumbs-up. He didn't tell her in words, first because someone had to translate it, and second because he was left speechless.

He was not expecting something like this to happen when he woke up in the morning. He thought today was going to be a good day and most of the time, the predictions come true. But after coming to the watchtower and hearing an absurd, life-changing from his best friend, he could no longer see and feel that it was going great.

"I know!" Queen Tinka exclaimed happily and turned to the other boy. "How about you?"

Alexander scratched his head with that shocked expression stuck on his face, "What I just saw... Is that how I'm going to be?..."

The older winked and replied. "Close enough." She then let the professional take over as she gestured for Pari to take her place.

"As I mentioned earlier, I'm a faery, specifically a water faery." Pari began explaining together with some little magic illustrations in the air. "In this world, there are five types of faes. Fire, water, air, earth and dark fae. Each race has its own unique type of magic and its appearance is heavily influenced by the type." The presentation using magical water everyone was

amazed by was done, she simply waved her hand and made them evaporate. "Unfortunately, I don't know your race, but judging from your skin tone, no offense,"

"None taken." The boy replied.

"You are most probably an earth fae, faes that control, soil, sand, dirt, and magic related to it, and live close to mountainous and forest areas."

"Uh-huh." Alexander nodded uncertainly. Despite all that information, he could only picture Tinka, minus the pink magic she had.

Pari knew exactly what the boy was thinking so she sighed lightly and said, "Let me just show you."

The new fae agreed vigorously. "Please do. Thank you."

Pari repeated the action made by the queen of pixies. Just in a blink, there was a palm-sized blue thing Melvin saw earlier at the entrance of the watchtower flying with wings made of a thin layer of clear water. But unlike her counterpart, the fae didn't leave trails of colour. Instead, left a tail of soft water spray like the air after it had rained. The water molecules in the air are attracted to the exposed skin.

Pari showed some of her water magic tricks and shifted back after minutes. "That's it for now. I'm sure others have a lot to share with you." She then turned towards her new friend, the pixie, and asked, "Shall we take a leave?"

"Sure. Let's have a talk over tea." Tinka opened a portal and the two stepped in. "Have a great afternoon. Bye!" The portal left a mark on the grass ground. The same pink symbol that was branded on Alek's chest. Noticing the similarity, Bia exchanged a quick look with her sister.

After the two magic users left, it became a little awkward for the boys to just stay there. In front of them was papa Mutsuki, Robin, Panacea, Astraea, Lake, Jin, Rin, Alek, Bia, Kai and Iris. They didn't have that much of a problem with Alek's direct family but since it was like a first-time meeting with the grandfather, aunt, uncle and cousin of their friend, they didn't know how to start a conversation.

"Let's just shift," Alek suggested with a straight-lined smile.
