Chapter 32

"I will contact you very soon." Daru kissed Sonam one last time as he walked out of the back door and off the fence.

He knows that he can trust her and also that whatever love she had for Jason had long faded out.

Daru reached back to his hideout. Still in his clothes, he sat in the driving seat.

"Fuck, I am still on square one."

He cursed as he slammed his hand on the steering wheel, still sober enough from his anger to avoid harm by accident.

He breathed in and out.

"I can't just waste my time; I will have to think of a way."

He tried to rack his brain as much as possible, but the answer still eluded him.

"Ha…" Giving up, he walked out, closing the door.

He knew it was getting very late, so he made his way to Gloria's house.

Now back in Gloria's house, he sits down to talk with his sister. Since the last time he unloaded all his past, it has cleared the air around them, and they almost seem to go back to the relationship of years back. How she, being the big sister, was there for him, and he for her.

Now she was back to complaining about this and that, and most of all the gossip she picked up from one place or the other. She never would tell him how she got to know the juicy talk. "A gentle lady doesn't spill her source," she says, a phrase she butchered from some Bond movie.

As both the incestuous brother and sister spent time talking, Jay came walking down. He had this annoyed look to him. 'I mean, he always does,' but now it seemed to be more pronounced; that's just saying something.

"Stop thinking about Eric," Gloria said with her own tired look and lovely accent.

"I am not thinking about him," Jay denied it vehemently.

"Yes, you are; you always make that face when you are thinking about him."

And that's when Daru's pupils dilated. The world was on his side. He wanted to scream, but all that came out was a laugh, "Ha ha ha…" a very hearty laugh.

When Jay and Gloria looked at him in question, he tried to convey his apology between his laughs as he still couldn't hold it in, "Sorry, just thought of something very funny."

Daru gets up and walks up to Jay; they both are almost eye level with Daru being an inch taller.

"Have I said that meeting your family has been the luckiest thing that happened to me?" Daru was being very honest here. He just could thank the modern family enough; first Phil, then Gloria, now Jay, all acting as a muse for his revenge. It almost feels destined to have met them.

'Well, destiny or not, I think I know where the cook is.'

It was a wild, wild guess, but his gut was telling him that he just might have hit the bullseye. It came back a circle on the people he wants to kill, and Jason again is the guy to have helped him. He is a very expressive face; even Manny would be able to read him like a book. Now that's saying something.

I mean, can you really miss the happy face of his when he receives a vat of cash, the way his chest puffs at the slightest compliments, and his endless hurling of curses at mild agitation?

So when he only has that look of utter envy only one particular day, the day before the mass receiving of the drugs, to then be supplied to 647 (Tuco's men), it might just be because he has to meet someone who has replaced his position.

'Or he might be going to see his mother-in-law, which I highly doubt.' Jokes aside, this really might be it.

'The new cook.'

And if his memory serves him right, it is supposed to be tomorrow.

Black is a stickler for time.

Everything is in place now; he needs no consideration or anything. It's time for him to strike. 'Tomorrow is the day I kill the cook.'

"Um, okay," Jay said a bit weirded out.

Gloria, though, squinted at him; Daru avoided eye contact with her.

"Well, Jay, I think we should spend some time together, what say?"

"Yes, sure."

"And you know what? I think I can help you with Eric too."

"It's alright…"

"No, please hear me out…"

Jay looks at Gloria as she just smiles and nods, "Say, how about you come with me to the club tomorrow then."

"That would be great," Daru replied as he patted Jay's shoulder.

"Alright, I am going to sleep," and he escaped before Gloria could corner him about her suspicions.

He knew she had them; she was sharp as a sword. 'She would have sniffed the tension in me long ago.'
