Arlo leaned on the wall of the corridor as he sat on the ground.
*Whew!* He let out a light breath.
He couldn't tell the exact time, however, he was sure he spent an entire 6 hours cleaning the entire castle.
If anything made him happy, it was that he didn't encounter those siblings.
In fact, he didn't meet anybody. It was as if the entire castle was empty.
Aside from the highest floor of the castle that was restricted to him, Arlo was sure there was no other person in the house, not even Joe.
Though this left him perplexed and a bit concerned, he couldn't really do anything about it.
He had to focus on what he was about to do.
Sending his divine sense to the right, a flight of stairs heading down entered his vision.
Taking a deep breath, he stood up and made his way to the basement.
…..
After walking down the slight of stairs, Arlo made his way across the empty basement.
It wasn't about two minutes later that a wooden sled about three meters long and a meter high packed with some unknown creatures entered his vision.
Sounds of trickling liquid falling echoed in the silent basement.
Out of curiosity, Arlo moved closer to the sled.
When his divine sense covered the entire carriage, Arlo's face turned pale and his eyes became filled with fear.
Several dead, huge bat-like creatures were packed on the sled.
The creatures had the normal size of a bat, however, their protruding crimson fangs told otherwise. Their faces were nothing short of hideous and fierce, and seeing about ten of such creatures clustered together with their greenish blood trickling down the sled, Arlo's heart couldn't help but beat faster.
Even with his mature state of mind, he couldn't help but feel scared.
His mind was screaming at him to run.
His legs were quivering ever so slightly.
However, he gritted his teeth and fought against the fear as he made his way past the sled, deeper into the basement.
He had not even walked ten steps when Arlo felt several massive structures enter his range of divine sense.
'Huh?' He was stunned on the spot as he realized that several protruding-like structures with murky liquids dripping down them surrounded his vision.
Raising his head slightly, Arlo's pupils turned into slits, and his face paled before a fearful scream escaped his mouth as he fell on his rear side.
*Snarl! Snarl! Snarl!* Several snarling sounds echoed along with his scream, as the several opened jaws simultaneously snapped shut as they tried to bite his upper body off.
Luckily, he fell on his rear side in time, saving him from a gruesome death.
"AAAAH!"
Arlo continued to scream as he retreated backward on all fours, well on all threes, making the dreadful fangs leave the range of his divine sense.
However, he didn't care at all, as he quickly got on his feet and ran with all his might out of the basement.
Only the snarling sounds of the dreadful hounds echoed as a background song along with his retreating figure.
He quickly made his way across the flight of stairs before he fell to his knees and panted for breath.
His golden hair fell disheveled down his head, covering his pale and fearful face.
His heart was beating to the point that he felt it might burst out of his chest.
He had never been this close to death.
