Chapter 8: My destiny

Marie was reading the newspaper over a cup of mild tea sitting on the couch. Suddenly her eyes got stuck on the corner of the paper where the date was mentioned.

8th February 20xx

'It has already been 6months, huh! Time surely flies.'

She then happily rolled her hands over her belly.

'More than 3 months to go baby. Mommy will make sure to make you happy..'

She felt the child's movement inside as if he/she had already accepted her proposal. These 6months were not at all easy for her.

However, through the contract, she receives a decent sum of money every month. Thanks to that her bank balance is increasing steadily. She was never a spendthrift, but since her marriage, she barely bought any dress. William never cared about her dresses, let alone buy her one. Suddenly she remembered the incident that occurred during her first anniversary.

"He never apologised to me, even after knowing what that dress means to me."

That was when she understood the hatred he had towards her. Even before leaving the house, he never greeted her politely. Every morning whenever he was going to leave, she always stood there and helped him to get ready. She always thought about him day and night and always prayed to God for a slight affection from him. But God never listened to her. So, after enduring for about 3 years she finally left the house. Leaving the divorce papers, a letter and her engagement ring on his desk. 

Honestly, she never thought she could manage to live alone without the help of her next-door neighbour, Ray. She continuously nags her about her daily routine.

"In this state, you must not go near the fire,... don't try to eat too oily foods,....blah..blah."

'She just acts like my Older sister. I never thought things would go like this '

And lastly, Ron and Rim had already lowered their guard against her. They at first remained wary of her because they thought she was a spy who might take their mother away. But now things have changed. They both apart from their school hours, mostly spent their time in her room.

"Ron Rim this is going to be my last warning, come back and let Aunt Marie to relax"

"Mommy, 5mins...."

"No, Mommy only 10mins... I want to play with auntie a bit. Ron should return. He had got a lot of homework."

"No mommy ,I completed everyhing already."

Both of them will not resign until Ray arrives at the battlefield.

Marie enjoys everything and wonders what future awaits for her...
