Chapter 34: Awake, But Not Alone

The rest of the night was a blur of passion and emotion, exacerbated by how light-headed Jonathan was.

In retrospect, he remembered flashes, moments. He was on top of Alphonse, hands roaming his pale chest, warm with his own blood. Next, he was on his side, behind Alphonse, tracing lines on his back with one finger.

It came to a point in the night where he couldn’t tell what was real and what he dreamt, or who had done what to whom. All he knew was that it was perfect and immaculate with his every desire met instantly. Jonathan and Alphonse were one soul in two bodies, moving in tandem with one another.

Until he woke up, alone, and sore.

Jonathan stared blankly at his ceiling, and recognized the wasting feeling of the past week was replaced by a bone-deep tiredness from a nearly sleepless night. He smiled weakly, arms spread out across the bed.

‘So, this is love,’ he thought. ‘And this is what I am in love.’
