Dr. Clown's Message

"Ms. Jacob, there's a detective Seth Owen looking for you." The female receptionist told Freya who was talking with Salma at Salma's cubicle. They were both standing discussing about Danny's progress at school.

She turned her head to face her, "I'll be right there, thanks for letting me know."

"Is that the detective you said you met at the police station?" Salma asked as Freya turned back to her.

"Yes, let me see him and come back."

"Ooh, what would make him come all the way here just to talk to you?"

"It's nothing like that, and you know I'm with Luke." She went out of their work space and to the reception.

Seth Owen was sitting on the chairs there in black pants, a jacket and a white shirt. He stood up when he saw her approach.

"Hello, Ms. Jacob. How have you been?"

"Hey, detective. I'm fine, what brought you here?"

"I got to talking with detective Randy after you left, and I found out that Mathew was the one that paid him and made him create the fake video footage. He was afraid to say the truth because Mathew had connections and he could use it to make his life miserable, but I was able to reassure him that I will protect him with my position."

"That makes more sense because Mathew was also the one that paid the forensic to write a fake result for the murder."

"What do you suggest we do next?"

"I will go and talk to Mathew, but you don't have to come with me."

"I want to come with you, and he may provide more information when he sees you with a detective."

"Alright, let me get my things and we can go."

She walked back to her cubicle, turned off her computer and took her hand bag. She went back out to the reception and met Seth who just finished talking on the phone.

"Randy said that Mathew is at work, so we can find him there."

"Alright then, I'll follow you in my car." He nodded and they both walked out of the building and to the parking lot, each going to their car.

Freya climbed into her car and started it, she saw Seth's car leaving the parking lot and followed behind him. They reached the media company Mathew worked at and also Nathan Brady before he passed away, and both got out of their car.

The building was a skyscraper and had 'The Now' written as a sign on it. Freya and Seth walked into the building and stopped at the receptionist's desk. The male receptionist looked up at them from the book he was reading.

"Hello, I am detective Owen and this is lawyer Freya Jacob. We're looking for Mathew Sanders. Can you call him out?"

"He's in the copy room, I will call him right now, detective." The receptionist stood up from his chair and walked through a door on the left.

After a few minutes, the receptionist walked out of the room with Mathew Sanders who looked surprised to see them.

"Hi, can I help you with something?"

"Yes, I am detective Seth Owen, and this is-"

"Freya Jacob, yes, we've met before." Mathew finished the sentence Seth started.

"Hello, Mathew. I would ask how you have been coping with Cathy being in prison, but it was revealed to me that you faked the evidence against her." She said with a tight expression that meant she won't take nonsense.

"Who told you that? I didn't do anything like that." He denied his eyes moving back and forth between Freya and Seth.

"Are you sure about that? Because we have audio recorders everywhere in the police station and we clearly heard you on the phone with one of our officers, and he's also in trouble." Seth lied to make Mathews admit the truth. Freya didn't like that he did that, but let it go.

"Yes, I have been framed. I don't even know the officer you're talking about."

"Mathew, please tell us the truth. Think about Cathy, I know you still care about her." She persuaded in a soft voice.

"I am telling you the truth, and Cathy chose Nathan, I have no right to still care about her." He muttered bitterly, "If you will excuse me, I need to go back to work."

'Dr Clown has done it again, but this time, he didn't leave a dead body, he left a man tortured and almost dead in the middle of the road into Community town.' The anchorman said inside the TV as Freya was sitting on the couch beside Luke who was doing some work on his computer that was on top of the living room table.

He looked up at the TV just as Freya picked up the remote and increased the volume a little. Both their attention was captured when they heard 'Dr Clown'.

'The man was found by a woman, Sarah Welsh riding into town to see her parents, and she took him to the hospital. The man couldn't be recognized because of how disfigured his face looked from taking a beating, so we don't know who he is.

He had blood flowing out from his stitched stomach, arms and legs, and Sarah told us that he kept muttering, 'A message for her, you are warned, two doctors are better than one, break our deal and we will break you'. He kept saying this statement until he died around fifteen minutes after she took him to the hospital.

What does it mean? A message for who? Why did Dr Clown leave him barely alive just to keep saying that statement? When will Dr Clown's tortures and killings be put to an end? Will we ever feel safe in this town?'

Freya's heart started beating faster as she realized the message must be meant for her, "Oh God, I think the message is for me. That is what Dr. David said to me when he broke in that night."

Luke's hand went to Freya's and drew her closer to him wrapping his arm around her, "What do you mean? What did he say?"

He asked with furrowed brows, concern marring his features. She let out a breath and ran her other hand through her hair. "Break our deal, and I'll break you. Not just that, do you remember how that man in a clown mask kept glaring at me at hunt ville."

He nodded his head, "Does that mean Dr. David is not Dr Clown? That they are two different serial killers that are working together?"

"Yes, or they're the same person and Dr. David is trying to mess with me."

"It can be that too, but what's important is to keep you safe and to find a way to put an end to what they're doing. I have gotten George to find out who is backing Clara in the government and why, he told me the information is hard to find, but he's going to keep digging, that way, we can break the support Clara and Dr. David have from the government."

"Yeah, that's a great idea. Salma, Gwen and I are also trying to find evidence strong enough that we can use against them."

"And we will, don't worry, baby. We will have them behind bars before you know it."

Bring bring

Freya's phone started ringing from the table, Lin's name was showing on the screen, and she picked it up. "Hello?"

"Hi, Freya! How have you been and Luke?"

"We've been great, what about you and Chen?"

"Oh, we're all doing great. I'm having a shoes fashion show on Friday, two days from now, and I'm inviting you and Salma to it."

"Thank you, Lin. We'll be there, Friday's our work holiday anyway."

"Was that Lin? She invited you to the fashion show?" Luke asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Yes, you already knew about it?"

"Yeah, Chen invited me earlier today, but I can't be there because I will be busy at work, you know, being a CEO and all. But I can drop you off."

"I would like that."

"Are we too early?" Luke asked with his hand holding hers as his chauffeur, Trevor parked the car in the parking lot of Lin's shoes shop. He was dropping Freya off at the fashion show on his way to work at 9am.

She glanced around the almost empty parking lot, "I don't think so, she told us it would start 9.30am."

"Mom will also be there, she said that Lin invited her." She turned to him looking concerned.

"I hope it goes well, I'm not sure she likes me." He smiled pushing some stray hairs away from her face.

"She has to like you, you're too amazing."

She let out a small laugh. "I'll see you later."

"Are you sure you won't miss me too much before then?" She laughed again and climbed out of the car walking to the shop.

"Freya, you're here! I'm so glad you were able to make it." Lin hugged Freya as soon as she entered the shop.

Lin released her and turned to a woman standing beside her, "Heather, this is Freya, a friend of mine, and Freya, this is my assistant and friend, Heather."
