As she felt their lower bodies touch, a thrill coursed through her. She wanted to feel more of him and so she moved closer... She heard him groan as he threw his leg over her before rolling her over as he broke the kiss.
But then, just as the kiss threatened to consume them both, he pulled back, breaking the moment. His breathing was heavy, his eyes dark with something unreadable.
A wry smile tugged at his lips as he rested his forehead against hers. "I never thought the day would come when someone would kiss me out of pity," he said softly, though there was a hint of amusement in his voice.
Serena blinked, momentarily stunned by his words. "Pity?" she repeated, her voice barely a whisper as if she didn't know the meaning of his words.
Aiden chuckled lightly, the sound low and rumbling through his chest and vibrating against her... "Yeah. I mean, I'm 'pitiful' enough to be Cinderella, right?"
