Matthew Dawn shifted in his seat, his fingers drumming anxiously against the armrest. He stared at the air hostess walking briskly down the aisle. The delay had stretched longer than anyone expected, and the whispers of irritation among the passengers were growing louder. And so was his anxiety. He didn't like this one bit. He should have left this country by now. They should have long been in the air.
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath before opening them again. Okay. So, no one was going to discover the truth out of the blue and he was sure he still had time to make his escape. But he didn't like what was happening just now. Not one bit. Things that happened out of the blue were never good
"Excuse me," Matthew said, flagging down the air hostess as she passed by his row. His voice was calm, even though his heart continued to thump anxiously, "What exactly is going on? Why haven't we left yet?"
