13. Ambush

There is no reason for us to stay here, this was a bait. That's why there wasn't anyone on the way to Emperor's hall, I should have known.

"Great." Says Alaster. "Harley, Vexana, Balmond and Alice... quite a team you assembled there."

I don't know which is which, one looks like an elite member of V.E.N.O.M. holding a staff, wearing metal suit, has a hat which looks like an octopus and the hat has an eye of its own, it's hard to tell his age because of his short height.

Other two are hard to describe in words, one looks like an undead necromancer who's floating in air, with black skin and broken handcuffs attached to her hands. Other one has the appearance of demon elf. She looks like a queen, wears dark clothing, with lines of silver around her waist, which looked similar to her majestic yet terrifying wings

Last one is simply battle trained orc holding an axe, with red skin.

"Take care of that orc, I'll handle other three."

"Got it." I say as I set distance from Alaster.

That orc sets his sight towards me, "you can do it." I tell myself as the orc slowly starts to approach me.

Suddenly a dark magic circle casted by the necromancer appeared below Alaster's feet and he jumped back with full force.

He landed gracefully and looked up to notice the boy in the hat and the queen had disappeared! Harley Telported behind him and so did the queen.

In the meantime, the orc starts attacking me with his axe, I block it with my sword, but his strength is too much for me to hold his attack for a long time. Then he started spinning on the spot, which made it even harder for me to hold his attack, I had to hold my sword with both hands to keep myself standing. But his strength didn't take him much time to send me flying.

Alaster immediately tried to dodge but realized he couldn't move, the queen had put a spell on him! Harley proceeded to barrage Alaster with a deck of magical cards! Alaster, being unable to move, put his shield to his front and absorbed the barrage of attacks.

I get hit against a wall, then he slams his axe on the floor which let out a huge impact nearby. I've never felt this kind of pressure before, my skin feels like its about to tear apart any second now, the pain is insane. As I was not moving from the place, orc came towards me with a furious look on his face.

I can't just do nothing and accept defeat, I manage to roll sideways to create distance, casting quad shadow and trying to land hits on him while I'm continuously teleporting between the shadows, looks like he's not built for tactical combat. I can win this, just when I thought so, he slammed me with tremendous force and knocked my senses out for a bit, he tried to cut me in half, I managed to block it with my sword but his strength sends my sword flying through the air.

I teleport to other shadows when he gets closer.

I've almost worn out the orc, it's heavily breathing and his movements seems to become dull, I get my sword back, trying to stab his chest aiming for his heart, he blocks it with his axe but he couldn't hold it for much long, my sword goes right though it's body. Killing him in an instant.

After absorbing all of Harleys attacks, Alaster quickly slashed the queen's magic and was now able to move.

He dashed toward the queen, taking her by surprise. But at that moment, the necromancer had thrown a spell of darkness and confusion at his way.

He noticed this and hurled his shield at Alice's face, jumping and stepping on the shield to bash it against Alice's face, then boosted his way to Harley.

He reached for Harley and slashed at him with full force! But to his surprise, the mage genius had disappeared from his sights! Harley had vanished into thin air!

Alaster, astonished by Harleys act, felt a shiver across his body.

He felt something dark, crawling through his veins.

Suddenly, His body started aching. His bones were screaming with pain and his veins felt like they were about to burst!

It was the necromancer, Vexana!

He saw Alice and Harley both preparing for their final strike.

Out of desperation, Alaster stabbed himself to exorcise the darkness out of his body, it looked really painful. But Alaster's face made it clear that he would have preferred this pain over the pain caused by the spell of the terrifying necromancer.

Harley and Alice were done with their preparations and launched their attacks at full force.

Alaster rolled sideways and dodged the attacks while slashing some of them. He maneuvered past Alice and retrieved his shield! Necromancer tried to stop his rapid movements through a dark spell of binding, but Alaster blocked it with his shield and in one fell swoop, hit her hard enough with his shield to knock her out.

While Alaster was busy dealing with the necromancer, Harley saw his chance and exexuted his deadliest magic, a hexagonal halo of venomous spell on Alaster, which surrounds Alaster upon contact and throws magical cards on that ring. But little did he know, Alaster have full immunity against magic, he slashes the halo, which dismisses it and directly stabs Harley in his neck. Which made him drop on the ground, groaning in pain.

Alaster is amazing! Now I'm really confident that we can get out of here alive. We can win this.
