Clinton chuckled and gave Lydia's hand an affectionate squeeze. "I'll be home soon, I promise. We'll get through this together."

Clinton rubbed the back of her hand soothingly. Lydia took a deep breath to stable her emotions. "I heard from Miles that Monique agreed to come see you."

Clinton heaved a sigh. "She's not relenting."

Lydia nodded as if she had expected as much, after their confrontation at the cemetery showed how resolute Monique was. "It's okay. I'll find another way to get you out of here," she said reassuringly.

"Let Miles handle this legally..." Clinton started, but Lydia shook her head adamantly.

"No. I can't just sit still while you rot in here." Determination flashed in her eyes. "I promise you, I will find a way, no matter what it takes."
