In truth, Kali wanted Gildarts to sit out of the battle because she wanted to take on Ghastler by herself. She knew, without a doubt, that Ghastler was someone incredibly strong and troublesome to kill.
"Well then, let's start." Lord Ghastler said as he raised his palm. "Purge."
Black flames started to appear on the ground as it headed towards her. Kali widened her eyes in surprise, she never would've thought that she would see Black Magic being wielded by another being.
She carefully jumped away to avoid the black flames. Black Magic wasn't like any other magic, it was evil, violent, and full of surprises. Just as Kali landed on a branch, the black flames erupted to six feet in height before disappearing.
"It would be bad if I were hit by that." Kali muttered. She hopped off the branch and dashed towards Ghastler.
Lord Ghastler was surprised that Kali knew that the black flames would erupt. He was starting to think that Kali was someone strong, possibly even stronger than himself. Those thoughts only made him grin, who would've thought that coming back to this world would be so interesting and amusing?
Kali reappeared at Lord Ghastler's side while performing a few hand signs with one hand as her other hand unsheathed the katana.
"Enchantment Magic, Curse of the Restless, drown in agony forever." Kali said as she gave Ghastler a hostile glare.
Kali's blade that was once silver turned into a glowing black color. She swung it at Ghastler's waist, however, it didn't slice through anything.
When Kali looked again, Ghastler wasn't in front of her anymore, he was standing a few feet away from her. She was surprised, she didn't expect someone to dodge her attack when it was quick.
Kali stood up and regained her stance. Her blade was still glowing black with small particles emitting off of it.
"I'm surprised."
"As I am, the swinging of your blade was quick. It's been a while since I've seen someone as masterful with the blade."
Though, that wasn't the only thing Lord Ghastler was surprised about. He would've never expected the wizard in front of her to be able to use Black Magic to Enchant her blade. Moreover, he didn't expect someone in this new era to wield Black Magic. The last wizard he had seen wielding it was Zeref.
"I guess we both use Black Magic." Kali said. "We're beings that wield magic that shouldn't be wielded nor exist. But yet, it's within us."
"You know, for someone who was born in this era, you speak in such a complicated manner." Lord Ghastler said.
"For an ancient being, you sure have jokes."
"Hahaha!" Lord Ghastler let out a booming laugh. "Moreover, where did you learn Black Magic?"
"Don't you think that type of information isn't meant to be shared to someone you don't know?"
"We're both users of Black Magic, we're bound to be connected somehow anyway. How about this, I'll tell you where I learned it, and you'll tell me where you learned it in return."
Kali replayed Ghastler's words in her head. It was true that they were connected somehow since they both wield Black Magic.
"Alright then, but you have to tell me first." Kali stated.
Lord Ghastler smiled and said, "Zeref."
Kali wasn't surprised by Ghastler's answer, in fact, she expected it. There was nowhere else to learn Black Magic from besides Zeref or in the ancient era.
"I learned it myself." Kali said.
Lord Ghastler was taken back by her answer, he was expecting something similar to his own answer. He was confused.
"What do you mean you learned it on your own? I don't think information of Black Magic existed a few decades ago. Which means…" Ghastler's eyes went wide when he came to realization.
"You guessed it right. I'm someone who's from the ancient era as well." Kali said while glancing at where Gildarts were. Somehow, he had fallen asleep. Though no monster would go near him with the aura he radiated.
"We might've been in the same era before, but just never got the chance to meet each other." Kali added.
"But, how are you alive? I'm here because I was killed, but not completely. That's how I was able to come back, I only woke up a week ago."
"I traveled through time by breaking a few laws of the world. Naturally, I dealt with the consequences."
"I see, then do you know of Zeref?"
"Of course, I remember the times we hung out together. Those days were good times."
"Then you must know of his curse…wait, how were you able to be near him? Anyone would die because of his curse."
"Remember I have broken the laws of reality, even those above the sky know of it. But it's a surprise I haven't been punished yet, though I have a feeling it's soon."
"I see."
"You were near Zeref too, right? Why aren't you dead?"
"It's because of the blood I was created with, it allowed me to survive Zeref's curse."
"The Contradictory Curse is a troublesome thing. Most likely, I will soon be cursed by it too. But it seems time is on my side." Kali said with a smile.
"Despite knowing that, you seem pretty satisfied." Lord Ghastler said.
"I'm satisfied because I have not crossed the line yet, but when I do, I most likely will have to walk through the world alone with feelings of emptiness."
"I see. If you don't mind, may I ask what goals you have?"
"Goals?" Kali questioned. "I don't have any."
"That's not possible because Zeref also once had a goal."
Kali chuckled. "You can't use Zeref as an example but you aren't wrong. Let's see…my goal is to fit in."
"Fit in?"
Kali nodded her head. "You will soon understand when the time is right. After all, you have just come to this era, you still have a lot to learn."
"I see, that makes sense."
"Then Ghastler, what is your goal? Not the destructive or killing goal, I want a realistic goal."
"I wish to turn this forest into my kingdom. The golems you defeated were prototypes of mine. They will be the civilians and the kingdom will be full of giant golems. It's name will be the Neraka Kingdom."
Kali nodded her head. "That sounds much better, but if you wish to really build the kingdom. Then keep your profile as low as possible, there will always be someone stronger than you."
"I know that, I met someone who is like that today." Lord Ghastler said.
"Thank you for your praise." Kali said. "Though, there are people who I believe are stronger than me."
When she said that, the image of Mira showed up in head. Kali felt as if Mira had some sort of secret magic that she doesn't know of because she couldn't say "no" when it came to Mira.
"We've done enough talking, should we fight seriously now?" Lord Ghastler said.
Kali wiped the dirt off of her blade and swung it. "We shall, it's been a while since I fought someone with the same magic of my own."
"I could say the same."
