1.9 Strongest Duo

Kali was getting stares wherever she walked, but it wasn't surprising since she had a black cloak on and it stood out from everyone else.

However, the stares started to disappear when there were less people around. That was because Kali was no longer in Magnolia, she was somewhere far off into the countryside that nobody ever went to since there wasn't much to do there.

Kali took a turn left and started walking on the sandy path. If she called correctly, she had to keep walking straight until she was near a forest, and there should be cabins near the area.

Luckily, Kali's memory was correct. When she could see the forest in her peripheral vision, there were a few cabins to her right. Feeling the magic in the air, she could tell that he was here. Perhaps he was waiting for her to come.

Kali peeked through the door of one of the cabins. She knew he was in this cabin somewhere.

"Gildarts!" Kali called out. "Where are you?"

However, Kali only received silence as an answer.

"Oi! I'm not here to play hide-n-seek! We're not kids anymore." Kali said.

"I know, I know." a voice came from behind the door. When it opened, it revealed Gildarts covered in bandages. "I was still sleeping."

"You sure do look like you need sleep." Kali said with a smile. "It looks like you went to hell and came back."

"No, you got it wrong." Gildarts said as he took a seat. "I fought hell and managed to come back."

Kali shook her head and sighed. "What happened there, Gildarts? This is the first time I've seen you getting injured. Is it old age?"

"Tsk, I'm not even in my fifties yet. Don't call me old." Gildarts said as he stared at his metallic left arm. "I lost my arm, my leg, and an organ. I've never seen a monster that strong before."

"Oh? What did it look like?"

"It was a black dragon, I encountered it at the sacred Mt. Zonia. I failed my job thanks to that damn thing. It's probably soaring all over the continent right now, if not the world."

"I see, a black dragon huh…were you not able to block its attack at all?"

Gildarts shook his head. "All of it happened in a blink of an eye, I wasn't even able to react to him. That thing, I don't think a human can beat it."

"Hmm, do you think I can beat it?" Kali asked with curiosity in her voice.

Gildarts was about to speak but paused. He seemed to be thinking about something for a while before he finally spoke again.

"I don't know the answer to that question. But anyway, how's Natsu and Lisanna doing?" Gildarts asked with a grin. "I bet things have progressed since then right?"

"Nope, nothing has progressed. After all, Lisanna is dead." Kali replied.

Gildarts widened his eyes in shock. "I see, that's why Mira was like that."

"But what they don't know is that Lisanna isn't dead."

"Didn't you just say-"

Kali pointed up. "She's in the sky, but she's not dead."

Gildarts gave Kalio a confused look. "In the sky? What's that supposed to mean?"

"It doesn't matter, all that matters is that Lisanna is actually alive and none of the guild members except me know about it. Well, now you do."

"But how do you know that she's alive? Did you see her in person or something?"

"Hmm, I guess what I did is similar to that."

"Keep going."

"I used Black Magic to find her presence. I found out she's in this world, but also not in this world. It's too complicated to explain."

Gildarts nearly spit out blood after hearing what Kali just said. "You can use Black Magic?! Since when?"

"I was always able to use it, I learned it a long time ago."

"Jeez, that just proves there's a lot of things I still don't know about you."

"Everyday you learn something new. Though, I'm surprised the news hasn't reached you yet."

"Ha? What news?"

"For the time being, I'm banned from Fairy Tail." Kali said with an innocent smile.

"You what?!" Gildarts exclaimed. "Then aren't you forbidden from interacting with the members? Aren't you also prohibited from helping them on missions? Wait, before you answer that, what did you even do?"

Kali took a seat in front of Gildarts. "Well, first I betrayed the guild by not bringing Natsu and the others back when I was on a mission."

"That shouldn't give you a ban."

"Well, then I revived the demon of destruction, Deliora."

"Well, that took a large turn. Why did you even do it in the first place?" Gildarts asked.

"Because I wanted to show them that Deliora isn't something that should be brought back to life again. Hopefully, I taught them a lesson."

"Damn right you did." Gildarts said before letting out a sigh. "What do you plan on doing now?"

"Hmm, I'm planning on doing some missions around the world." Kali replied.

"You're not in a guild, you don't even have any job requests."

Kali grinned at Gildarts. "I don't, but you do."

"You're not planning on coming alone with me when I'm doing missions, right?"

"I'm exactly planning to do that."

"Aren't you banned from working with members who're from Fairy Tail?"

"So? What are they going to do? Stop me when I'm with you? Don't forget Gildarts, we're the strongest duo in the world right now."

Gildarts couldn't say anything since Kali was right. The two of them together were dangerous, they could even be considered Calamity Class.

"Then, when are we going to start heading out? I'm pretty sure we'll need some resources before we take on some S-Rank jobs."

"That's why we'll be going into the city tomorrow. But you'll also have to wear a cloak, a different one since people will instantly recognize you."

"Tsk, why is it so troublesome?"

"Then would you like to have a crowd surround you or do you want people following you nonstop?"

"Forget what I asked. Let's get some rest, it's getting late. My injuries haven't recovered fully yet either."

"I don't think your injuries will recover anytime soon considering how bad it is. Also, I'll wake you up when it's time to go. That way, you don't have to worry about sleeping in."

"How old are you again?"

"I'm eighteen."

"Old enough to be my daughter."

"I'd rather not have you as my father. If you were, I'd be the one constantly leaving."

"Oi? What's that supposed to mean?"

"Nothing, good night Gildarts."
