Chapter 23 : One's Own Way!

"Miss Mira? Miss Mira?!"

"Huh?" Mira paused, then noticed Lucy calling out to her.

"Miss Mira, didn't you say I could choose where to print the guild's emblem? I've made my choice, how about having it printed here?" Lucy placed his right hand on the table.

"Alright!"

Mira conjured a pink guild emblem resembling a bird onto the back of Lucy's hand.

"Okay! Now you're officially a member of Fairy Tail!"

"Wow! Check it out, Kyros! The Fairy Tail emblem!"

"Congratulations on joining Fairy Tail," Kyros said to Lucy with a smile, though his personal favorites from the anime were Mirajane and Erza. However, Lucy was still charming in her own right.

Lucy seemed mostly responsible for complaining, but she also has her own allure as the heroine; she is cute, beautiful, and strong.

The only heroine Kyros consistently disliked was Sakura, from Naruto.

Lucy then went to show off her emblem to Natsu and Happy.

"Nice, Lucy."

"It's Lucy!!"

"I'm talking to you, boy. Where did you find such a beautiful girl?" Wakaba asked Natsu with a serious expression. He and Macao could be considered the two most handsome men in the guild.

The most flirtatious was the Guild Master, followed by Gildarts, then Macao and Wakaba. None of the guild's older members were particularly serious.

"She's great. I wonder if she'd be interested in joining our team," Wakaba's companion commented.

When Wizards went out on quests, they often formed teams for safety reasons. Many guild members teamed up to take on more challenging and rewarding missions.

Of course, there were also those who preferred to go solo, like Kyros.

At that moment, Natsu stood up.

"Natsu, where are you off to?"

"Gotta work. We're running low on cash."

With that, Natsu began scanning the task board for available jobs, with Happy by his side.

Suddenly, a childish voice called out behind Kyros.

"Is my dad back yet?"

Kyros turned around to see a young boy of about four or five standing behind him.

Initially taken aback, Kyros soon remembered who the child was: Macao's son, Romeo.

Romeo had visited the Fairy Tail guild with Macao several times before. Kyros had seen him on those occasions. However, since Kyros had been preoccupied with his drawings lately and hadn't returned to the guild in over a year, he almost didn't recognize him.

Upon seeing Romeo, Makarov admonished, "Romeo, don't cause trouble. As a Mage's child, you should trust your father. Just stay home and wait for his return."

"But... He clearly said he'd be back home in three days... It's been a week, and he's still not back..."

"Macao went to work at Huckleberry Hill."

"It's not far from here! Please, help me find him! I'm so worried!"

"Don't be a nuisance! Your father is a Mage! This guild doesn't need Mages to clean up after others! Go home and behave!"

"Bad!!" Romeo exclaimed, jumping up to punch Makarov in the face before running out, tears streaming down his cheeks.

Kyros furrowed her brows. Huckleberry Mountain wasn't far; he had been there to sign in himself. Even with work, returning within three days should be feasible.

Yet, a week's delay was concerning. There might have been an accident.

The tasks of the Magic Guild ranged from mundane errands to perilous monster slaying and thief apprehension.

With danger came the risk of losing one's life.

Fairy Tail was dubbed the "undying manga" where characters, good or bad, seldom met their demise.

However, upon crossing into this world, Kyros realized the reality was different. This world was perilous, and death was commonplace.

Even within Fairy Tail, some mages perished on missions.

For the safety of guild members, Makarov, as guild master, assessed each mission's feasibility.

If he deemed a mage capable, the mission was approved; otherwise, it was denied.

In Makarov's absence, Mira handled such matters.

However, circumstances could change during missions, and as guild master, Makarov had to be pragmatic.

"It's so harsh," Lucy muttered involuntarily upon hearing Makarov's words.

Mira remarked, "With that said, the Guild Master seems quite concerned."

"Boom!"

Natsu swiftly slotted the quest scroll he held into the task panel, grabbed his bag, and exited the guild hall.

"Hey!! Natsu!! You just wrecked the task interface!" exclaimed Nab, who habitually lingered by the task board without actually taking on any tasks.

"Guild Master, is there something amiss with that lad Natsu?"

"He's set on rescuing Macao."

"Yet it's still a bit premature; such actions might dent Macao's pride."

Makarov picked up his pipe, a smile playing on his lips. "The path he chooses is his own. Let him tread it."
