When he was at the last bookshelf, a strange scene appeared, when he touched the bookshelf it didn't go into the Mage's Sanctuary.
This bookshelf is not as simple as it seems.
There's only one reason why this bookshelf can't be put inside the space.
That this bookshelf is connected to the whole castle and thus connected to the land.
The only reasons that things cannot be put inside the mage's sanctuary are when:
One: the objects are too big and thus cannot fit inside the Space.
Two: The object is connected to the ground like a building.
Obviously, this bookshelf is not big so it can only be connected to the castle.
Then there must be a hidden mechanism on this bookshelf that will reveal something.
Like those secret rooms in movies where the character only need to tug on one book and boom a secret room is revealed.
John was determined to find the mechanism, but so far, all his efforts had been in vain. He had studied the bookshelf from every angle, measured every inch, and even gone as far as to take off all the books, but still, he found nothing.
John decided that the secret must be in those books. So, one by one he flipped the pages of the books, and with every book opened, he would feel mixed emotions of disappointment and excitement.
Until when he was halfway through flipping all the books. He found one book that is thicker than the others and has an old book cover with chipped corners and scratches on the face. Feeling the exquisite vibe in this book, John was excited that he may have found the right one.
And sure enough, when he lifted the book up it was slightly heavier than the other books he searched through. With an excited heart, he opened the book, only to see that the book is hollow with a yellow key lying inside.
Ecstatic at finding the key, he took it in his hand as he started to find the keyhole on the bookshelf. Then right at the corner of the bookshelf was a cleverly hidden hole that matches the blade of the key.
He then inserted the key into the keyhole and turned it clockwise. After turning it two times, he heard a clinking sound, as the bookshelf started to tremble. He quickly took a step back to avoid something happening like the bookshelf falling.
The bookshelf then started to rumble as it slowly slid to the left. What's left in its place is a deep dark and eerie hole that seems to devour all light.
Resisting the urge of a man to explore a deep hole, he summoned a puppet to explore the way if there are any traps inside, don't want to be impaled by arrows upon triggering a trap, do we?
After the puppet went down, a sound of air being pierced sounded from the hole, and then he lost connection with his puppet. A chill went down his spine looking at the deep hole, his puppet only went inside for 10 seconds and it's already wrecked?
He sent another one down to check how deep the water was in this hole. He hopes that there won't be any more traps, as he only had 17 puppets and one had already been destroyed.
As minutes passed by, more and more puppets got destroyed by the deadly traps inside the hole. John's heart bled a stream of blood while looking at the 10 puppets left in front of him, this damn hole took a whole 7 puppets to get to the end!
He swears that if the things inside can't make up for his loss, then he will stop going into mysterious deep holes, ever. He just can't afford it if he's gonna lose these many puppets every time he discovered one.
After he made sure that there was no more danger in the hole, he slowly went down while holding a magic lantern that lights up when inputted with magic power, it's a must in exploring mysterious deep dark holes.
As he walked down the stairs he manage to see his puppets wrecked in different ways, one had holes all over its body, while another is pierced by spears all over its body. And it's just getting pierced by different weapons.
He put the scrapped puppets inside the space to get them fixed, anyways, he arrived at the end of the stairs where a barrier stood. Seeing this barrier something seems to snap inside John, something so violent we can only cut off the chapter.
