Chapter 26: Job Complete!!

*April 13, Year 772*

*Evening*

Splat*

Flesh and blood dyed the whole entrance of the cave red. I let the wolf pack totem clean up the place before removing the hand on Cana's eyes.

Cana pouted for having her eyes blocked too long," Hey why do you do that?"

I smiled gently and said, " That scene is not what your innocent eyes should see, Maybe you'll see it later in your life but no one said that it must be now."

Seeing my smile and hearing those sweet words, Cana's face turned beet red with smoke coming out of her head.

Slap*

Out of nowhere Cana suddenly started slapping my back.

With a beet-red face, Cana muttered, "S-stop saying such things, I won't F-fall for you!"

Feeling the pain in my body, I hissed, "Stop! It hurts for god sake!"

My shout made Cana come out of her tantrum and stop hitting me and went to the campfire and ate a BBQ as if nothing happened.

You might be wondering Cana is just a child and how could I possibly be hurt? Well, supposedly Cana is now in her first stage of developing into a humanoid Tyranasourous.

As if feeling something Cana turned and glared at me," Hey are you thinking about something bad for me?"

I quickly waved my hands and spoke, " No not at all how could I ever think bad of you?"

"Hmm, I'll let you go this time because this BBQ is delicious"

Wiping the cold sweat from my forehead, I wondered if this woman can read minds.

Anyway, I quickly threw all of that to the back of my head and sat with Cana and ate Chicken BBQ, like fighting that necromancer didn't even happen.

After we were done eating, Gildarts came back with slightly messy hair but that was all.

I asked if everything was alright, He smiled and said I fixed it. Ironic for a man whose magic is purely destructive.

We reached the village after a couple of minutes of walking.

The village is now what it looked like in the morning, with collapsed houses everywhere and bloodstains here and there.

They must have removed all the bodies before Gildarts came and took us away. The scene before the cleaning may not affect me but it may traumatize Cana so I guess it's all good.

We saw children crying for the loss of their parents or parents crying for the loss of their children as we reached the house of the village chief.

Gildarts turned to us and said, " You guys stay here for tonight and We'll leave tomorrow at noon."

After saying all of that he left the house and went somewhere, we were then led by the wife of the village chief to the rooms we will be staying in.

"Good night" "Good Night"

*April 14, Year 772*

*Morning*

A night quickly pass and then it was morning the next day. Cana and I opened the door almost at the same time.

I saw that Cana has red eyes and messy hair, we looked each other in the eye and then I burst out laughing.

"HAHAHAHAHA! What happened?"

" I just did not sleep well"

After laughing for a bit, we went to the kitchen and saw the village chief's wife preparing food.

After she was done cooking, she put them on the table and invited us to eat. We chatted as we eat and thanked her after we finish eating.

"Do you want to follow me outside or do you want to just stay here?"

Cana just waved her arm and said.

"I'll stay here and sleep some more"

" Well Okay"

I left the village chief's house and went to the Beekeepers Association. The building looks like it went through a fight as its entire fifth floor was demolished.

I pushed the door and went in just in time to see Gildarts and Morgan shaking hands then Morgan handing Gildarts a stack of jewels.

I watched for a while more until I saw Gildarts putting the money inside his pockets. I took out my wolf totems and shot a blood-red light at Gildarts.

Gildarts took a look at the attack from the corner of his eyes and waved his hands and swatted the beam into specs of light.

He then turned towards me with a grin and asked.

"Hey, why did you attack me just now?"

With a twitching eyebrow, I replied and fired a few more beams at him.

"If I didn't attack you just now, you would have pocketed all the money from the task!"

He then casually waved his hands again and swatted those beams of light and said.

" Aren't I keeping it for you guys? I'll give it back to you later in Magnolia."

Seeing that this shameless guy did not want to give the reward money, I'm sorry my friend but you leave me with no choice but to use my secret weapon.

"If you keep doing this I'll go to Cana and say you bullied us and secretly took away all the money for this mission."

"Let me tell you one more thing Cana is quite haggard right now and if I tell her about this she might just hate you for a long time per se about one year I guess?"

Like being struck by lightning, Gildarts stayed on the spot for a few seconds and then dissipated into dust scattered by the wind.

Then the dust regathered into a howling Gildarts.

"NOOOO! Here, take the money just don't tell Cana okay!"

He handed the money to me and quickly left the place. Going to Cana I assume.
