19 Chapter 19: Spar
Author's Note Sorry for not updating the last two days I've received a group project in school so I have to prioritize that first. Thank you for you're understanding.

* Morning *
" Having Good physical strength is also helpful for mages since when you run out of magic power you need to rely on your physical Strenght to fight. Especially you John if you run out of magic power or the enemy got close to you you have no choice but to fight using physical attacks."
" Yes, Uncle Gildarts I already considered this flaw so that's why I want to learn spear arts to protect myself if I ever run out of magic power." ' Like That will ever happen when my totems magic supply is connected to my Mage's Sanctuary.'
" I will be teaching Cana Magic while you practice your spear arts there, I will point it out if you made a mistake."
After that, we started training in the forest since it's my first time using a close combat weapon in both of my lives I made a lot of mistakes. I'm more surprised about Cana she only needed two days to learn to use Crush magic it's not that strong since it can only crush some palm-sized stones.
I Guess she indeed inherited the talent of her father in Crush Magic. She also learned Hand-to-Hand combat from Gildarts to better use Crush. Sometimes Gildarts made us spar against each other without using magic.
At the start, I lost most of the time since it's really hard to use spears I'm not some sort of genius to be able to use the spear in just a couple of days of training. It was only two months later that I was able to fight evenly with her in combat.
*************** 2 Months Later ************************

* April 12, Year 772 *
* Afternoon *
" Ok Kids You'll spar this afternoon after that tomorrow we will take a job and you will solve it by yourselves," Gildarts said to us.
"Yes Uncle Gildarts"
"Yes Dad"
After that, we went opposite each other in the clearing, We stare each other in the eyes as we went into our stance.
" I'm so gonna win this time John" Said Cana.
" Nah I'll bet you dinner I'll win this time" I replied.
" Bet!!" Cana Said.
" Three!! Two!!! One!! FIGHT!!!" Shouted Gildarts.
As the fight started Cana stomped on the ground and rushed towards me with her right arm blocking the front. I readied myself as she neared, I quickly Short stabbed her. She dodge to the left as she used her right arm to send my attack to the ground.
After she dodged the attack she rushed to me again. I quickly jumped back and regained my stance and performed a long stab at her. Seeing this she rushed in, as the spear neared her she dodge to the left and took the spear under her right armpit.
After that, she grasped the body of the spear and pulled, I quickly stabilized myself to avoid being pulled and twist the spear making her let go. After that, I quickly stabbed at her as she was retreating.
As the spear neared her again she turned to the left narrowing the distance between us. Seeing this my eyes narrow a bit and used the shaft of the spear to block her punch as I try to distance myself from her.
Seeing that she finally gained her chance she stuck to me like a dog skin plaster and did not let go. as I was blocking her attacks I noticed a gap and used the end of my spear to swing at her forcing her to retreat.
I quickly jumped back again to put some distance against us. I pressured her with some fast stabs as I gained the advantage. Seeing a chance I feign a slash against her, seeing that she retreated backward I smiled as she fell into the trap.
Seeing my smile she felt cold for some reason. I transformed my slash into a stab as I just stop the stab right in front of her face. After that, I pulled back the spear and smiled smugly at her.
"HAHAHA Told you that I will win this round." I laugh as I said to her with a smirk.
" Hmph! I'll win next time." She said.
" Remember to treat me to dinner ok?"
" I know."
After that, we went to Gildarts. Where he pointed out what we need to improve on.
" John you still need to improve your footwork and techniques to use when the enemy got closer."
"And You Cana you need to practice your punches and kicks more to have them connect closely leaving no chance for the enemy to counter attack."
"Anyway today's spar ends here let's go back to the guildhall." He said as he walked to the city.
After we ate dinner at the Guildhall we parted ways as I went to my apartment.
After I woke up the next day and did my morning routine I went to the guildhall eating my homemade food. I bump into Cana and Gildarts on the way, so we went there together.
" I'm so excited for my first monster hunting Job." Said Cana with an excited voice as she skipped to the guildhall.
"It's not that exciting it's just killing some Magical Creature." I said to her.
" Can't you be more excited?" She looked at me and asked.
"Wow. I'm so excited." I said sarcastically.
"Enough ChitChat let's go to the guildhall." Gildarts interrupted.
With that, we reached the guildhall and greeted Old man Makarov and went to the job board to look for a suitable job.
