Chapter 30 : Ten Rings For Ten million Jewels

As Phantom Lord's president, he was well aware of the sudden appearance of a magical ring within his guild. After some inquiries, he discovered that the ring had come from Juvia. He swiftly bought it from her, and soon enough, the mystery unraveled before him.

Joseph quickly understood the immense value of this Internet-based magic, and he eagerly pressed Juvia for more information about its origins. Unfortunately for him, Juvia refused to reveal anything further, which led to Joseph sending her on a high-level mission in frustration.

For the next few days, Joseph quietly observed the Internet's workings, confirming that the magic had indeed originated from the Fairy Tail Guild. After some investigation, Knight became his prime focus.

Learning that Knight was a newcomer to Fairy Tail filled Joseph with envy and frustration. Fairy Tail, again, he thought bitterly. The guild had been gaining prominence over the past few years, slowly overtaking Phantom Lord in reputation. Now, with such a talented recruit, it was becoming unbearable for Joseph.

He desperately wanted to poach Knight.

Considering Knight was a recent recruit, Joseph figured he might not have strong ties to the guild yet. He believed that if he offered the right incentives—an emotional appeal, some enticing rewards, and enough attention—Knight might just switch sides.

Makarov, seeing Joseph's intentions, was livid. With his beard practically bristling with rage, he leapt down from the table, rushed over, and stood protectively in front of Knight, shielding him like a mother hen guarding her chicks.

"What do you think you're doing, Joseph?" Makarov growled, glaring at his rival.

"Haha, Makarov, isn't everyone free to make their own choices?" Joseph replied smoothly. "Doesn't Fairy Tail pride itself on allowing its members to come and go as they please?"

The presidents of the other guilds had been quiet during this exchange, having invited Knight earlier only to tease Makarov for his boastful display with the ring. However, the well-known rivalry between Joseph and Makarov was something they didn't want to meddle in.

Bob, the president of Blue Pegasus, leaned over and whispered to Knight, "Just so you know, Joseph and your president don't exactly get along."

Knight gave a small nod of understanding and turned to Joseph, replying, "President Joseph, I'm happy in Fairy Tail and have no intention of leaving, but thank you for the offer."

"Ah, that's truly unfortunate," Joseph said with a sly smile. He wasn't expecting to recruit Knight immediately. He had merely wanted to meet this new talent in person.

At this point, the president of Four Hounds, Goldman, chuckled and asked, "Knight, does everyone need one of those rings to use your Internet magic?"

"For now, yes," Knight replied, realizing as he spoke that he still had over 10,000 rings in his inventory. He saw an opportunity and decided to seize it. "You know what," he added, "I'll give each of you a ring—free of charge."

Joseph already had one, so Knight didn't offer him another. Makarov crossed his arms, grumbling, "Free? That's too generous. After all, you all just tried to poach one of my kids. I say each of you pays a million jewels! You scared him half to death!"

Bob slipped on his new ring and admired it, wiggling his little finger. "Oh, you're too stingy, Makarov."

The other presidents laughed and began asking to buy more rings, eager to outfit their entire guilds.

Knight, surprised by how enthusiastic everyone was, whispered to Makarov, "Isn't a million jewels per ring a bit too steep?"

"Nonsense," Makarov said, grinning. "You put in the effort. Besides, you can't undervalue your hard work. Oh, and by the way, the Council bought ten rings for ten million jewels. Mira will get that money to you later."

Knight was astonished at the amount. Who are these fools spending so much?

He eventually decided on a more reasonable price of 10,000 jewels per ring, as this was the price Phantom had paid. Charging any higher would've felt unfair.

And just like that, over 7,000 rings were sold in a flash, with each guild buying around 300. The payments would be sent to Fairy Tail after the guild leaders returned home from the meeting.

With this transaction, Knight found himself in possession of nearly 90 million jewels. Adding the 10 million from the Council, his total fortune was now nearing 100 million jewels.

While the guild leaders busied themselves exploring the Internet through their new rings, Makarov came over with a proud smile. "The new functions you've added to the Internet are quite useful. You've done well, Knight. Now, have you eaten yet? Let's get you something nice."

Knight nodded and followed Makarov to a table laden with food, feeling hungry after all the day's events.

Just as Makarov was introducing the various dishes, Knight heard a loud crash behind him.

With a bang, Natsu came flying through the banquet hall, smashing through the wall and knocking over three tables, including the one Knight had just sat down at. Makarov froze in disbelief, wine bottle in hand.

Knight had been expecting this and quickly snatched the tastiest dish from the table before making his escape.

The guild presidents, distracted from their Internet exploration, looked over in surprise.

"What's going on? Are we under attack?"

"Is that the Fire Dragon, Natsu?"

Natsu stood up, completely unfazed by the attention. His focus was entirely on Gajeel, who was outside the broken wall.

"Damn it! This isn't over yet!" Natsu shouted, cheeks puffing as he inhaled. "Fire Dragon's Roar!"

Not to be outdone, Gajeel unleashed his own attack. "Iron Dragon's Roar!"

The two dragon slayers' breaths collided with a deafening explosion, and the mansion where the meeting was being held erupted in flames.

Knight sighed. Honestly, Iron Dragon has nothing on Natsu's destructive potential.
