Ch.3 Fairy Tail

As they entered Magnolia, the three of them started to go towards the guild. However, as Macao looked at Jax, who was still wearing the rags they found in one of the underground lab rooms, he decided to make a stop at a child's clothing store. He couldn't have Jax continue to wear those clothes.

Jax, looking at the city, something he had never seen before, followed the two mages of Fairy Tail across Magnolia, and they stopped at a clothing shop. "Jax, what kind of clothes do you like?" Macao asked him with an employee waiting beside him.

Looking at Macao for a moment, who smiled and nodded his head, Jax turned around and looked at the great variety of clothes. However, having never been to a clothing shop before, he only looked for a moment before simply taking a black shirt with black pants, which were the closest to him and fitted his taste. He then looked back at the two mages with these two pieces of clothing.

"I'd like to have those two if possible," Jax said as he kept those two pieces of clothing close to him.

"Perfect. Now go change yourself in the changing room over there." He said while nodding his head at Jax, who knew nothing of the exterior world and pointed at the changing room at the end of the store.

A few moments later, after wearing the new clothes, he came out of the changing room with his previous garments in his arms. Honestly, he didn't particularly like those rags since it made him remember the lab that tortured him. However, he also knew that he didn't have any money, and those rags, as Macao called them, could be washed and worn again.

After leaving the clothing shop, the three went to the guild, which wasn't that far under the lead of Wakaba. In less than five minutes, they arrived in front of the guild. It was at the moment that they saw the guild building that Jax finally understood that in the future, the mages wouldn't torture him and that a bright future waited for him. Jax smiled upon finally seeing the light and the chance to turn his life around.

The two mages, seeing Jax's behaviour, sighed lightly. They knew that Jax didn't have a good childhood, which could be considered terrifying. Just by looking at the various scars on his body and the one on his left eye, they knew that being tortured was the norm for him, and the two mages had noticed when they were making their way back to Magnolia.

---

After all, when they had been walking in the forest to go to the closest town to take the train, Jax, at a certain point, had fallen since he didn't have any muscles after being stuck in a cell for all of his life. However, when he fell, a sharp tree branch had deeply scratched his arm to the point where blood just fell out without stop.

However, upon seeing this, Jax hadn't had any reaction as he merely pulled the tree branch out of his arm and used a piece of clothing to block the flow of blood. In all of the operation, Jax never flinched or made any grimace as if he didn't feel the pain, while both mages who saw this frowned and couldn't help but feel pain for him.

---

As Jax was following the two mages, he didn't stop in front of the entrance and directly entered through the doors. What awaited him in the guildhall was a few dozen members who immediately turned their heads upon seeing the three of them enter, wondering who came back.

"Master!" Macao shouted as he made his way towards the older man sitting on the counter while Wakaba had Jax sit down at a table. "We have found a kid of about five years old who had been captured by the dark mages. They experimented on him with rituals ever since he can remember, and he was the last one alive." He said while whispering the last sentence.

Upon hearing his words, the older man who seemed a little drunk and joyful turned severe instantly. He made his way towards Jax as he asked Macao: "So, you bringing him here is because he is interested in joining Fairy Tail?" seriously asked the old man as he looked at Jax from a distance.

"Indeed. Wakaba talked with Jax and invited him to the guild. I already confirmed that he has magic. From what Wakaba told me, he possesses air magic." He answered while following behind the master of the guild.

The guild master continued on his way, and the various members of the guild made some room for the master as he came to the table and sat down in front of Jax, who was sitting quietly on the table. As he sat down, he looked at Jax and saw all the bruises and cuts he had on his body. He frowned a little at the torture the kid had to go through before he started to talk to Jax.

"Hello, Jax. I'm the guild master of the Fairy Tail guild. I heard from Macao that you wanted to become a member of our guild?" The master asked while looking at Jax.

"Yes, Wakaba told me that I could join Fairy Tail since I don't have anywhere else to go and I could learn how to control my magic properly." Jax nodded with no expression on his face as he stated facts.

"I see. I have no problem with you joining us, but I will have to ask you to show me your magic first. After all, we won't be able to help you if we don't know what magic you can use." He said with a small smile. He didn't doubt what Wakaba had said. However, since he was experimented on by the dark mages, he needed to know if there were any problems with his magic.

"I see," Jax said before turning his palm and making a mini-tornado appear in the palm of his hand. He kept at it until he didn't have any magical power left and the tornado stopped by itself as he clenched his fist.

"Oh, you have air magic. Is it all the magic you can do, or is there something else?" The master asked as it was customary for mages to know a few different magics. Of course, he didn't expect Jax to say yes but was surprised when Jax nodded his head and started to use other types of magic.

He made water appear in his hand, move a bit of dirt on the ground, a fire light-up on the tip of his finger, lightning appear around his hand one after another before turning to the less obvious magic. He said "sound" as the sound resonated with magical power, lighted up his hand with pink energy on one of the bruises on his body, making it fade away slightly before using the previous dirt gathered with his earth magic and the water from his water magic to help in making a bud of a plant appear from the pile of dirt from nowhere. Afterwards, he made one of his fist light up with light magic while the second one turned utterly dark with dark magic.

After he finished showing his ten different magics, he stopped as each of them was empty of magical power, and he couldn't use them until they recharged themselves. However, just this presentation had made everyone stop talking as they were stunned to see such a great use of magic. There are only two types of mages recognized on the continent. The first type was natural-born mages who were born with their magic. The second type was learning type mages who had learned from a magical book or a teacher.

Amongst those two types, the learning type mages were more present in the magical community as natural-born mages were rarer. Amongst those mages, being able to use one kind of magic was decent and being able to use two types of magic was extraordinary.

On the other hand, natural-born mages were born with a type of magic that they only needed to learn to control, which made them superior in strength compared with learning type mages as long as they put as much effort. On this site, in addition to their natural-born magic, being able to learn new types of magic was slightly easier for them as those mages had acclimated to magic since they were born. However, being able to use four types of magic were already amongst the best ones and being able to use more than that was extremely rare since there could be problems in their bodies by using so many different types of magic.

Because of this, mages generally stuck with one or two types of magic and brought them to the pinnacle. However, from what the master could see, Jax in front of him didn't have any problems in using so many types of magic, and he could even use them at the same time. Jax was simply doing an impossible feat.

After being stunned, the master was brought out of his thoughts by the food one of the members had brought in front of Jax and the master as they stayed silent in front of each other.

Seeing that the master didn't speak, Jax looked at the food, which looked very tasty as he tasted it before starting to wolf down his food. It had been very long since he had the chance to eat as much as he wanted. Now that he thought about it, it had never happened in the past, and today was his first time.

While Jax was wolfing down his food, Makarov finally spoke: "So, there is no problem in you joining Fairy Tail. However, you are currently too young to join Fairy Tail since you can't take jobs at your age. Luckily, the guild possesses a program to adopt young wizards in your circumstances. There are currently two choices in front of you. The first one would be to live with one of the current members of the guild. The second one would be to live alone in an apartment in the guild. You would be able to live in the guild apartment until you can take jobs free of charge, and after that, you would have to pay a certain amount to continue living there. Normally those who stay in the guild's apartment are older wizards. However, considering your circumstances, I decided to open this option to you." He said with a gentle smile.

"I'd like to live alone." Jax didn't hesitate a second before asking for the second option. Since he didn't know anyone and didn't want to bother either Wakaba or Macao, Jax decided to live alone. Anyway, he had lived alone for as far as he could remember with only the voices of other children to keep him company.

"Well, I figured this would be your choice. I'll have someone show you to your apartment later. It's right behind the guild, so every morning you will come to the guild, and in the evening, you will go back there to sleep. Within that time, some wizards who have nothing to do will help you learn basic skills like reading and calculating. They will also teach you how to control your magic. Is everything alright with you?"

"Yes, thank you. When will I start my lessons to control my magic?" Jax asked with a small tone. He wanted to protect himself as soon as possible. After what he went through, being retaken into custody was something he wanted to avoid.

"Well, we can start right after you finish eating. What do you think? I'll teach you a little bit today, and tomorrow other mages will start teaching you, alright? After all, you have so many kinds of magic that one wizard can't teach you everything there is." The master said with a smile as he finished the food in front of him.

"No problem. I'm ready to start." Jax couldn't wait to start learning how to control his magic.
