Did anyone else find it weird that whenever Natsu did something huge in the anime/manga, it was always downplayed in the end? True, SOME people acknowledge his achievements, but most of the time, he's not really as well-known or respected as Erza, Laxus, and the other strong characters. Whenever it was someone else, take Erza for example, she is always getting this comments of respect from her opponents saying how powerful they know she is, how she's such a threat to their plans, how she's more amazing than the rest, yadda yadda yadda. But whenever it's Natsu, he gets shitted on by nearly every opponent he faces, and they treat him like this annoying insect that tries to act big, but is nothing really. Even when he does end up beating them, they almost always forget about him immediately after the next time they meet, as if he didn't do anything at all. There's just no way to admire someone like that if he's so bland it's as if he's a side character.
My issue here is that Mashima is always looking for a bullshit excuse to put someone else (Erza) in the spotlight, while disregarding Natsu which then makes (made) him look so damn pathetic. Honestly, he should've just made Erza the actual MC. Not Lucy or Natsu, just Erza if he's so obsessed with making her the best. I honestly think Natsu will only be decent enough only if he is a side character. He's got a shitty backstory about being abandoned by his foster parent when 4 other people experienced the same thing. There's nothing cool about him that makes him respectable as an MC.
You know Subaru's speech in Re:Zero that totally hit close to home for most of us? I really wish Natsu would at least have the guts to admit those things out loud, that he's really just a useless, dumb twerp who somehow pulls it off due to some last-second miracles, and not because of his own strength that he had to train for and actual skill.
Like, how does Gray beat some of his opponents bare-handed when Natsu cannot get through a single fight without using his magic? Even when dealing with strong opponents, his wins make so much more sense and he doesn't even have anything that special going for him. Natsu's a dragon slayer, so isn't his senses and body enhanced? Hell, you don't see someone like Inuyasha use his Tetsusaiga or Ichigo use his Bankai all the time, right? He knows Ice Make Magic, but Natsu is the dragon slayer trained by the Fire Dragon King for Pete's sake! Gray knows Devil Slaying Magic, but Natsu was the greatest demon and masterpiece of Zeref, END. How are they still so equal? I admit Natsu's a bit stronger, but all things considered, it's baffling why he's not much stronger despite having so many advantages going for him. I can honestly imagine him still losing to Erza, Laxus or Gildarts at this point (100 Years Quest) because no matter how many amazing things he does, Mashima will always find a way to bring him down again. He's allergic to making Natsu a respectable MC, actually I feel like he regrets making Natsu seem like the MC that he keeps boosting other characters instead to fix his mistake. He gives the obnoxious, slutty heroine to him so the cool girls can be with someone better than him, which is most guys really. I would honestly be less hostile towards FT if the MC would just get better, but who are we kidding, he's not the type of guy who gets the girls or the respect. He's just a Natsu, let's not expect anything more from him.
Honestly, FT is a good anime for writing fanfictions, but forcing yourself to accept all of its flaws and inconsistencies as a whole will only stress you out.
Anyway, I'll stop for now. I can already see the "Stop obsessing on your criticism on someone else's work and just make your own, fucker" or "You really need help, man. Just stop it already" comments, but again, this is my fic so I am at least entitled to voice out my opinions, right? If you don't want to hear it or if you disagree with it so badly you shit on me so bad in the reviews like you wanna kill me, then I'm sorry and I respect your own opinion (even if you still like the stuff I don't), but I'm still gonna do this regardless, because I wanna find someone who shares similar opinions or at least understands where I'm coming from so that I can validate their opinions at the least. I have the confidence to say all these things because I know I'm not alone. There's already two guys on Amino and Reddit who has already discussed some of things I just said, so all I'm doing is just repeating after them, really.
This is all opinion-based, so if you don't have the same issue as me, then simply tell me the reasons why you disagree with me and don't act so offended. I also don't want to hear "If you hate Fairy Tail so much, then why are you here?" Because I'm sick of hearing this from so many people and I don't wanna hear it anymore.
And just so you know, I won't let myself be disheartened from finishing this fic just because of some lousy comments. You can flame me, hate me, or abandon this story if you want because of this, but I will still keep writing it for the ones that DO support it.
Just a warning, this is my weirdest chapter yet because I had no idea how to write it anymore. I made a scenario where Happy would not live with Natsu anymore since it's a pain in the ass to always worry about him because he's hindering Natsu and Mira's time together. I wrote it in a weird way, but if you think really hard about this chapter, I think you'll understand what I'm trying to say. As always, Enjoy!
Chapter 6: Changes
Natsu and Mira got weird stares when they were checking out of the inn. Natsu even swore he saw someone glaring at them. Oddly, Mira didn't seem to notice though, and proceeded to return their key at the front desk normally.
Natsu already knew why they were receiving this treatment from the other guests even without his enhanced hearing. It was because of their late-night romp the previous night that they attracted the glares of the other guests who were woken up by their loud sounds. He decided to ignore their silent hostility, knowing that they had every right to be mad.
If this happened 9 years ago, Natsu would have fought back even if he knew it was their fault. Being with Mira really helped him mature and grow up as a person. She had just the appropriate amount of strictness and tenderness when dealing with him. He was really glad that Mira was the one he ended up with since imagining himself ending up with someone like Lucy brought unpleasant scenarios in his mind. He would probably still be the same child he was back then since Lucy is the type of person who would submissively be soft on her lover. He didn't want to change the relationship he had with Mira now for the world.
'Weird, why am I thinking of this?' He questioned himself.
After they finished checking out and boarded the train back to Magnolia, Natsu accompanied Mira back to her house to drop off her bags. Since the house was empty, Elfman and Lisanna was probably already at the guild.
When Mira invited Natsu inside the house to put her stuff down, one thing led to another and the next thing they knew, they were lying down naked beside each other in Mira's bed.
"We better clean up and head back to the guild." Natsu said, knowing that someone will notice if they are gone for too long.
"Do we have to?" Mira cutely pouted. Natsu was surprised at her sudden behavior, knowing that she was usually the mature one. She would've been the one who suggested they show their faces to the guild by now. He guessed she was not yet over the amazing feeling of finally having sex yet… well not that he was one to talk.
Honestly, Natsu felt very happy right now. No, he was more than happy. He felt like his heart was jumping up and down like a trampoline. He was feeling extremely positive, and he knew that he could face any problem head-on without worrying about it too much because of how happy he was feeling. But someone had to be the reasonable one here so they can keep their secret hidden, so he took on the responsibility for once.
"I understand how you feel. But if we're gone for more than 2 days together, everyone's gonna get hella suspicious." Natsu reasoned.
"I know you're right, but still…" Mira was seriously really cute when she pouts. It's not like being gone for a little longer will kill them, right? Natsu couldn't resist her and instead came up with a plan.
"Tell you what? I'll come up with an excuse to get Happy to leave the house for tonight, then I'll bring you home with me, and we'll do whatever we want to, okay?" Natsu suggested.
Mira smiled at him in response, "Then, I'll be looking forward to tonight. It's a promise!" She said, extending her pinky finger out to Natsu. He suddenly remembered the time he confessed his feelings to Erza 9 years ago, and how he also did the same thing at the end. Forgetting about that distant and unpleasant memory, he held out his pinky finger as well and intertwined it with hers. "It's a promise!" He repeated after her. Mira could be a child sometimes too.
After that, they both went to take a shower together in an effort to save time, but they ended up riling each other up and doing it again. They really couldn't get enough of each other. It was like doing it the first time opened a door they couldn't close.
3 hours later, they finally arrived at the guild. Mira had a new signature dress these days that made her look even more beautiful, while Natsu dressed up more stylishly, which made him more handsome (in Mira's opinion).
"Yo! We're back." Natsu shouted to the whole guild, informing everybody of their return.
"Welcome back!"
"Yo!"
"Looking good, Natsu!"
Excluding the last comment (which was made by a random girl from the guild), these were the typical responses they got from their guildmates. After their greetings, they walked over to Lucy and the rest.
"So, where did you guys go this time?" Lucy asked them, curious about the details of their job this time. Whenever they were on a date, they usually used a job as an excuse to go away with each other together without anyone suspecting them.
Apparently, Mira has taken a liking to taking missions as a mage again, considering all the things that happened. But it doesn't mean she's already abandoned her job as a barmaid, since she felt like it was a duty that had a special place in her heart, helping her cope during the time she thought Lisanna was dead.
"We went to this city called Granvia. They were having some trouble with dark mages, so we kicked their butts." Natsu lied, expecting them to accept it and be fooled easily like they usually do whenever he comes back from a date with Mira, however…
"Oh? I've never heard of that place before. Is it far away?" Erza asked suspiciously. It's not like Erza memorized the map of Ishgar or anything, but doing countless missions over the years in so many different places, it struck her as odd that she's never encountered such a name in her life.
Natsu and Mira both flinched internally. They did their best to hide their surprise, but Mira was worse in keeping a poker face than Natsu, sweating bullets while Natsu just looked at Erza with a thinking expression. Good thing he was able to recover quickly.
"Y-yeah, it is. We had a bit of trouble finding the place ourselves." Natsu was getting better at coming up with lies. It must be because he's already used to it by now.
"Oh, I see then. Good work on completing the mission." Erza smiled, giving them a mental thumbs-up. "Thanks." They both replied.
"I'm gonna go over there for now. Don't forget to tell Happy, ok?" Mira whispered to Natsu while pointing at her siblings in one of the tables.
"Gotcha." After Mira left his side, he asked where Happy was. Speaking of which, where was he?
"Where's Happy?" Natsu asked, already having the perfect excuse to get him out of the house for the night. He wanted to get it over with already before he forgets.
"Right behind you" Happy said it menacingly with his eyes wide open in Natsu's back, surprising him.
"Gah! What the hell?!" Natsu shouted. This is the first time they meet again, and Happy's already pranking him again. Weird that he was the more mature one now, when back then, Happy was the more clever one. That's one of the good things he got from dating Mira.
Happy laughed and apologized after, "Sorry Natsu."
Letting it go, Natsu decided to set his plan in motion. "Anyway, I need to talk to you. Let's go to the bar and have a bite to eat first, I'm starving" Natsu ordered something for both of them, buttering up to Happy first before executing his plan. He was gonna get him some fish first before he breaks it in.
When their meals were served (not by Mira, who was still with Elfman and Lisanna), Natsu slowly initiated a light conversation.
"So, what did you do while I was gone?" Looking up at Natsu from the fish he was munching on, he replied. "Nothing much. I stayed over at Wendy and Carla's room last night, and we played a board game, but that's it."
"Ohhh? Nothing happened between you and Carla while you slept at her room last night? I'm disappointed." Natsu couldn't resist the urge to tease Happy back for all those times he did it to him.
"You're the last person I want to hear that from!" Happy shouted back.
"Huh? What are you talking about?" Natsu was confused what Happy was trying to say, not knowing what he meant exactly.
"It's obvious to everyone you and Mira like each other, so why don't you just admit it already?" Happy was getting painstakingly close to the truth, but Natsu knew he was just saying that because he thought they weren't together yet. It's extremely weird that Happy didn't catch on to their relationship yet considering they were always together, and it's even weirder that out of everyone in the guild, Gray's the only one who knows about it. They should've kept their promise and told everyone back then since they were already caught by him, but it was just too fun to date each other without anyone knowing.
"Hey! I'm just waiting for the perfect time to tell her, okay?" Natsu lied to shut Happy up about it for now. A part of Natsu felt relieved… he couldn't wait to tell the whole guild that they were actually dating already for the past 2 years. Happy was surprised because Natsu didn't deny the fact that he likes Mira this time.
"Really? I knew it! You lllliiikkke h-" Natsu put a hand on Happy's mouth to shut him up.
"I know, I know. You don't have to keep teasing me about it." Natsu was a bit irritated at this side of Happy, who always put others on edge when he would tease them and tell them they like each other. Seriously, where did Happy even pick up this habit from?
"Anyway, I have to talk to you about something now." Natsu suddenly shifted his tone, now having a serious mood going on around him.
"What is it? Is it something serious?" Happy picked up on Natsu's change of mood and called him out on it.
"Not really, but I wanna ask you something important." Natsu got closer to Happy's face.
"What? Natsu, you're scaring me with all this suspense."
Natsu backed away a little after he realized that Happy was right.
"Sorry about that. Anyway, can you promise me you won't get mad at what I'm about to say?"
Since Happy was anxious, more importantly curious, as to what Natsu was gonna say, he agreed.
"Sure, I'm ready."
"Alright, here I go…" Natsu inhaled a large amount of air after he said that, causing Happy to tense up in anticipation.
"Can you start living with someone else for now?" Mustering his resolve, Natsu finally said it out loud.
"WHAT?!" Happy shouted, attracting the attention of their guildmates. Mira looked at Natsu worriedly. 'Why is he saying it now? Natsu, you idiot.' Mira never seemed to curse at anyone anymore, but she noticed that she had no problem calling Natsu bad names. It was probably because she's already gotten too close to him that she was comfortable doing things with him she can't imagine doing to someone else. And also because she was astounded by Natsu's recklessness of asking Happy to go away somewhere else, while they were surrounded by their guildmates. Couldn't he have done this somewhere more private?
Panicking, Natsu shushed him. "Sshhhh… I'm sorry about surprising you like that, but I have a good reason for it." Natsu said this with a low voice while putting his hands together apologetically. He just realized his mistake of saying this to Happy while they were still in the guildhall, now.
Happy was still in shock. What brought this on all of a sudden? He didn't recall doing anything to make Natsu angry, so why was Natsu kicking him out? No, he said he had a good reason for it, but what? It still didn't make sense.
Since Natsu was shushing him, he realized Natsu wanted this to not be known by everyone. Being the good friend (and cat) that he is, he asked Natsu his reason why in a lower voice.
"Fine then. Tell me why you're kicking me out of the house." Happy said shakingly. He WAS a bit overdramatic after all.
When Natsu saw Happy's reaction, he knew he couldn't half-ass this. He decided to say it to Happy properly.
"Can I tell you outside?" Natsu asked. He wanted to say this to Happy without anyone interrupting them.
"Fine." Happy followed Natsu outside after, a few curious glances trailing them.
"I wonder what that was about?" Lucy asked.
"Maybe that idiot did something to make Happy angry." Gray commented.
"Stop it! If they wanted to talk about it outside, let us respect their privacy." Erza commanded. She was also curious, but she didn't want to cause Natsu any unnecessary discomfort by prying into his affairs.
The curious people quickly dropped the topic, afraid of incurring Erza's wrath.
"I guess you're right. I can't help but worry though, they almost never fight..." Lucy said in concern for her two friends.
"Let them sort it out themselves. I'm sure they'll be fine once they talk it out." Erza wisely said.
With Natsu and Happy…
Natsu chose the park to speak to Happy about this with.
Even though the weather was good, the sun's brilliance was hidden by the clouds right now. The park was pretty busy this time of day, but it was perfect because now Natsu can talk to Happy without anyone listening in on them. Some children were running around, some couples were walking together, and elderly people were taking a stroll.
They sat themselves on a bench, both of them looking at the lively energy of the people. On a tree behind them, Mira was in disguise. She already knew what was going on between Natsu and Happy, so she decided to peek in on them worriedly.
'Oh no! Am I the reason why they're fighting?' Mira thought to herself, remembering Happy's outburst earlier and thinking they were fighting. She suspected that Happy was mad at Natsu for dropping this bomb out of nowhere. She didn't know Natsu actually took a step further and asked Happy to move out.
"I realized something lately…" Natsu finally began, Mira and Happy both curious what he was going to say next. Happy kept quiet in anticipation and Mira remained hidden.
"We're getting older, aren't we?" Natsu looked at Happy with a comforting smile.
"Eh?" Happy was dumfounded. What was he getting at?
"Ever since you were born, we've always been together. That's why the bond we share is something I treasure above all else." Natsu was acting weird. Happy only understood a little of what Natsu's said so far since it was like he was speaking in riddles. What's he trying to say?
"But it won't always be that way. Once we grow up and have our own families, we can't live in that nasty, old cottage anymore." Happy now understood more of what Natsu was getting at.
"We can still be together even then, but I want us to live a life of our own. I don't want us to always depend on each other like that. Otherwise, it will be difficult for our future families too." Natsu was actually thinking this far ahead of the future? Happy admired Natsu's growth.
"I want us to devote ourselves to loving them. I'm not saying we should stop being best friends, because I know that will never happen…" Natsu smiled at Happy at this. Happy just looked back with an unreadable expression on his face.
"…But I also want us to find someone who will be just as important as you and I are to each other." Mira cringed at the scene in front of her. 'Doesn't he hear what he's saying?' She thought.
"And I think it will be hard to do that unless we give ourselves the chance to do that. So, I want us to give ourselves that distance so we can have the opportunity to be alone with someone we love." Natsu's last statement hit close to home on why he wanted to do this, but he didn't care. He actually thought of this just earlier when he walked to the guild with Mira, but he knew that similar thoughts already crossed his mind before. He just didn't see a reason to act on it because he didn't need to.
Happy was surprisingly sharp when it came to things like this, so he understood what Natsu was saying perfectly. He wanted them to live apart from each other without necessarily losing their bond as best friends, so that they can focus on finding someone they can love. Surely, if they were together all the time, it would be difficult for them to be with the girl who has captured their hearts since they would only bring each other down by being the third wheel. If they had some distance between themselves, it would be easier to spend time with their potential (since Happy thought Natsu and Mira weren't together yet) love partners. Was Natsu actually this smart now? But Happy also wondered what suddenly spurred this on.
"Alright, I get what you're saying." Happy said after a short pause, earning him a smile of happiness from Natsu.
"Really? I'm so glad. I thought I was asking for too much." Natsu sighed in relief, anxious how Happy was going to react, or if he even understood it.
"You ARE! But I know what you're trying to say, and it's true." Happy crossed his arms and looked away. Natsu just chuckled at Happy's behavior. Natsu was brought back to reality when Happy asked him next:
"But who's gonna move out first? And where's he gonna stay?"
They looked at each other with blank stares.
"You're right! I didn't think that part through." Natsu put his hands on his head.
'Figures.' Both Happy and Mira thought in unison.
It was then that Happy noticed a streak of silver hair out of the corner of his eye 'Mira?' Her front ponytail was sticking out.
First, Natsu suggests they start living separately out of the blue. Then, Mira was watching them while hiding herself (which she did a poor job of doing) behind a tree. All these things confused Happy for a second, but then it hit him like a bolt of lightning. Connecting the dots, he answered his earlier question. He came close to the truth, but he wasn't quite there yet.
The reason why Natsu didn't deny liking Mira anymore is because he's ready to finally make his move on her. And since Mira was stalking him, he had a feeling Natsu noticed it and gained the confidence to confess to her, thinking that she also liked him if she was stalking him.
So that's why Natsu was trying to get rid of him, he wanted to have some alone time with Mira.
Deciding to keep it a secret to himself for now knowing he can use this to blackmail Natsu in the future, he decided to stay at the Strauss siblings' house for now with Lisanna.
"It's ok, Natsu! I've decided to stay over with Lisanna for now."
"Y-you did? That's great, Happy!" Natsu beamed.
"But you're the one who's gonna be moving my stuff over."
"You got it!" After Natsu said this, he suddenly realized something.
"Wait, that's it? You're not sad or angry that we won't be living with each other anymore?"
"Why are you saying this now? Geez, you were the one who suggested this." Happy complained.
"I know, you're right, I'm sorry. But it's just weird that you're taking this so well."
"Stop being an idiot and bring my stuff over already!" Happy yelled in a commanding tone. "Aye, sir!" Natsu saluted and rushed to move Happy's stuff over.
What a weird turn of events.
After Natsu left in a flash, Mira also took her leave stealthily, not knowing it was useless since Happy already saw her.
After Happy knew he was finally alone, he sat on the bench with a sad expression. Of course, why wouldn't he be? He wasn't sad that he wasn't going to be sleeping under the same roof as his foster father anymore. He was sad because now that Natsu was thinking like this already, he realized his partner was ready to move on to the next chapter of his life. He felt like he was being abandoned, but at the same time he was happy for his friend.
After being inseparable for so long, Natsu was finally moving on and finding someone who can replace the bond he shared with Happy. Thinking this way stopped him from tearing up (knowing how sensitive Happy is, something like this is enough to make him cry).
Happy released a depressing sigh and just watched the bustling activities in front of him.
A couple of hours later, Natsu finally moved all of Happy's "stuff" to the Strauss siblings' house, which was really just his knapsacks, toothbrush, and fishes. Natsu took a little longer because he was fixing up the broken parts of their house, like the roof, the doorknob, and the heater for the shower. He also got rid of the trees sticking out of their cottage and fixed the exterior. He cleaned up the inside so Mira wouldn't be disgusted when she comes over. He smiled at that thought, excited for his guest for tonight. But he was even happier that now the house was his, he and Mira finally have a place where they can be alone without going out-of-town.
When he was exiting the house he "renovated" with Happy's stuff in hand, he looked at the 'Natsu and Happy' sign and looked at it with a melancholic expression. It was just a simple sign, but it symbolized the special bond he had with Happy. After all the years of spending every waking and sleeping moment with each other, they were going to part from that lifestyle already.
But it also meant a new beginning for the two of them. Hopefully, Happy can also find someone who will complete him like Mira did for Natsu.
"When did I get so cheezy?" Natsu said to himself, rubbing the tip of his nose with the back of his index finger.
He then made his way over to the Strauss siblings' house and dropped Happy's stuff off.
When Natsu got back to the guild, he noticed a crowd form around a table. Going over to check it out, he saw a flashy-looking board game. The participants were seated on the chairs around the table. They were Wendy, Gray, Levy, Cana, and-
"Jellal?!" Natsu exclaimed. He didn't peg that guy as the type of person to play around like this.
"Yeah, it seems he took an interest in it and volunteered to play with Wendy. The others just tagged along." Erza said with her arms crossed beside Natsu, a huge smile on her face. She was happy that Jellal was getting along with the guild.
Seeing Erza happy, Natsu couldn't help but smile as well. "Why are you smiling?" Erza asked.
"I'm just glad to see Jellal's fitting in with everyone. I thought he would be more unsociable." Natsu said genuinely. He's completely forgot the grudge he had against Jellal and now considered him a part of his family. It was times like these that Erza really admired Natsu. He was kind, caring, and fun to be with.
Erza was happy that Natsu felt this way towards Jellal, but she was somehow disappointed as well. She ignored that feeling and continued to watch the ones playing.
"Damn it! What's with this crap?!" Cana shouted. It was Cana's turn just now, and when she rolled the dice, she got a bad result, which explained her outburst.
"Stay back and let me show you how it's done." Gray smugly proclaimed. Juvia was cheering him on with hearts in her eyes "You're the best, Gray-sama!"
"Erm… I think this is a game that relies on your luck though…" Wendy shyly pointed out.
"Don't be naïve, Wendy. Even when it comes to rolling a dice, with the proper way of throwing it, you can get the result you want." Gray continued to act smug.
Right now, Gray's piece was close to finishing the game. 2 blocks in front of it reads "You will achieve your life-long dream, advance forward." 5 blocks forward read a more gruesome fortune, "You will die an excruciating death, please start over." 6 blocks forward was the finishing point that read "You will be blessed with good luck and eternal love for the rest of your life." Yes, it was a reality-simulating board game.
Gray placed the dice in his hands and shook it dramatically.
He rolled the dice and smiled confidently. The other participants and the audience was watching while holding their breaths to see if Gray would win the game.
The dice rolled onto the board and was going to land on the number 6, earning gasps of awe from the audience and shocked faces on the participants. Gray smirked at this.
Suddenly, an invisible gust of wind moved the dice to land on the number… 5.
Gray's face paled, and the audience was surprised once more.
Cana laughed at his misfortune, getting back at him for earlier "Who's the naïve one now, huh?"
Levy smirked at Gray, telling him to move his piece back to the very start "Looks like you have to start over from the beginning."
Jellal and Wendy just released sighs of relief. Looks like the game can keep going.
Cana continued to provoke Gray "You lose. That'll teach you to talk big next time."
Gray just placed his hands and knees on the floor in utter defeat, a depressing aura surrounding him. Juvia was the only one by his side consoling him, the others knowing he deserved it for acting arrogant.
But then, Freed interrupted, having noticed something. This got Gray to whip his head in attention.
"No, Gray is actually the victor." Everyone's interest was piqued and they all looked at him to listen to what he was about to say.
"Do you even know the rules of this game? We all clearly saw that he rolled a 5." Wakaba said.
"Indeed, he rolled a bad dice and lost the game. It seems he got too full of himself…" Freed said this and got a "Hey!" from Gray.
"I would say that he got it coming to him and that he lost fair and square, if that was the case…" Everyone had varying looks of shock on their faces.
Wendy and the other participants sweatdropped.
"So you're saying someone cheated?" Wakaba spoke up again.
"Indeed." Freed nodded with his eyes closed.
Everyone gasped in surprise this time.
"Bullshit! Gray put you up to this, didn't he?" Cana shouted. She couldn't accept the fact that she was actually beaten by someone in a game of fortune.
"No, I assure you he did not." Freed held out his hand in a stop-sign position.
"Then how did someone cheat?" Erza asked this time.
"If you apply enough force on an object, you can move it." Freed vaguely explained.
Jellal understood what Freed was trying to say and turned his head towards Wendy.
"What do you mean? Wait, are you saying… the wind?" Erza also caught on quickly, looking at Wendy. Since the others were paying attention to their conversation, they all turned their heads in the same direction as Erza.
"That's right. Since all of you were so focused on the outcome of Gray's roll, no one else seemed to notice that something unnatural happened after he lost." Freed calmly explained.
Wendy was sweating bullets, tears pooling at the corner of her eyes "I'm sorry! I just wanted to win." Wendy cried out.
"It's ok, Wendy. It's just a game." Jellal consoled her.
"Yeah, he's right. As long as you promise to never do it again, then there's no problem." Natsu also tried to stop Wendy from crying.
Since Wendy touched everyone's soft spot in the guild, they all quickly forgave her, saying things like "You don't have to cry anymore" and "Cheer up, Wendy".
After Wendy was disqualified, they decided to cancel the match.
"But I won, didn't I?" Gray tried convincing them.
"Just drop it, ice pick. The game's already over."
"Oh yeah?! Why don't you make me?" Gray started butting heads with Natsu, easily riled up by Natsu's remark.
Erza separated them from each other, saying "Don't fight!"
After things eventually died down, Wendy sat at the corner of the guild, repentant of her actions. She looked down and was being cheered up by Carla and Happy.
"It's just a game, Wendy. Stop feeling so down, ok?" Carla said, Happy agreeing with her. He got back to the guild before Natsu did, informing Lisanna of what they talked about, to which she agreed.
Wendy just nodded sadly in response, holding the board game beside her while looking down.
After the game was over, everyone went back to their own things. They decided to give Wendy some time to cheer up again, knowing that crowding around her will just unnecessarily discomfort her.
Seeing that Wendy was still clinging onto the board game, Natsu realized that the reason why she wanted to win so badly was because she liked the game a lot. Now that no one will play with her anymore, she's feeling sad about it.
Natsu also noticed how normal Happy was acting, and quickly shrugged it off. He was just glad Happy agreed to him without a fight.
Feeling a finger tap his shoulder, he looked behind him. It was Mira.
"Yo! I've already told Happy." He said smiling, but Mira didn't look as pleased as he thought she would be.
"What's up?" he asked, calling her out on it.
"I didn't ask you to go that far." Mira chided him.
"Huh?" Natsu asked her. Sure he noticed Mira snooping around them earlier, but he thought she would be happy now that they've got his house all to themselves whenever they want to.
"Why did you ask Happy to move out? We agreed to keep him away for only one night." Mira was unhappy about the fact that Natsu was kicking his partner out to entertain her demand. She didn't expect him to go this far.
"I thought you'd be happier about it. Happy didn't have any problems with it."
"He didn't?"
"Nope. He's completely fine with it, look…" Natsu said pointing at Happy who was with Wendy and Carla.
"I guess it's fine if no one has a problem with it. I'm sorry, Natsu, I was just worried that I might've started a fight between you two because of my selfishness."
Natsu smiled warmly at Mira's kindness "You can be selfish every once in a while, you know."
They looked at each other lovingly and locked hands under the table. Good thing everyone was so preoccupied with their own things that Natsu and Mira avoided questioning glances. Well, not really everyone.
"Go straight home after you leave the guild. I have a surprise for you." Mira said.
Before Natsu could question her, she ran off to tell Elfman and Lisanna that she was gonna stay over at a friend's house for the night (they both assumed she was talking about one of the barmaids).
Erza was watching them from the corner of her eye curiously, feeling slightly uncomfortable. She was trying her best to push this feeling away.
"…so what do you say, Erza?" Jellal asked her. Failing to get a response from her, he tapped her shoulder to get her attention.
Erza broke out of her stupor and looked at Jellal.
"I'm sorry, were you saying something?" She asked.
"Yeah. I was asking you if you want to have dinner with me tonight." He asked hopefully.
"Like a date?" Erza curiously asked.
Jellal smiled maturely and answered her question "Yeah, like a date."
Looking at the clock that read "5:54", Erza smiled back at him and told him she was gonna start getting ready now.
"But it's still quite early." Jellal pointed out.
"I know, but I want to make sure I'm at my best for tonight." She answered back.
"Alright. Then, I'll see you later?" He asked hopefully once more.
"Yeah." Erza answered, heading out of the guild to prepare for their date.
She wanted to head out of the guild not only because she wanted to prepare for her date with Jellal. She also wanted to have some time to think to herself away from the guild.
Seeing Natsu and Mira earlier struck her harder than she thought. She didn't want to say it, but she already had an idea why.
Remembering the look they shared earlier while she was watching them, she was uneasy.
While she was walking along to Fairy Hills, she spotted Mira exit a store. What a coincidence!
Being the straightforward person that she is, she called out to Mira.
"Erza? What are you doing here?" Mira flusteredly asked. Ignoring her weird reaction for now, she answered "I'm on my way back to Fairy Hills to get ready for my date with Jellal. I see you're busy getting supplies from-" She looked at the store Mira just came out of and blushed.
It was an adult lingerie store (lingeries specially made to seduce men).
Seeing Erza's expression, Mira worked on her excuse.
"I'm just buying this for someone." Mira quickly said.
Not wanting to pry any further, Erza just responded with "I see."
Sensing the awkward atmosphere, Mira decided to proceed with her "surprise" for Natsu tonight.
"Anyway, I wouldn't want to keep you from looking good for your date, so I'll be going." Mira said. Just as she was about to head in the direction of Natsu's house, Erza stopped her. Erza was suddenly overcome with curiosity as Mira was about to leave.
"Mira, wait up. I have to ask you something after all."
"Hm? What is it?" Mira was usually a patient person, but she wanted this to be over with already so that she can have more time for her "surprise".
"Are you… are you seeing anyone right now?" Mira's eyes widened. Does she know about her and Natsu already? Surely, Gray didn't tell Erza, right? After all, she helped him out with Juvia already. Deciding to mislead Erza from the truth knowing how intuitive and sharp the scarlet-haired mage was, it would be more difficult to fool her than most people.
"No. What makes you think that?" Mira lied.
"I'm just wondering if you noticed Natsu's feelings for you." Erza's intuition was getting closer to the truth. In reality, Mira didn't know that it was pretty much common knowledge by now that she and Natsu like each other, the two of them too focused on fooling everyone that they didn't know it was pretty much a well-known fact already that they liked each other. But no one, besides Gray, knew yet that they were dating.
"Yeah, I know."
Feeling bolder, she asked "Then do you feel the same way?" Since answering in the affirmative will give their secret out, Mira got caught in the moment and said she didn't.
"I love him as a friend, if that's what you're asking." Mira decided to be as ambiguous as possible. She wanted to mix her words up in a way that will indicate she wasn't utterly denying it. She just needed to bend the truth a little to get Erza off their trail. Erza however, took this answer to heart.
"I see. Then, I'll be going now." Erza said with an unreadable tone in her voice. Mira picked up on it, but decided to let it be for now. She had to get herself ready for when Natsu comes back tonight.
'I wonder what that was all about?' She asked herself as she headed towards Natsu's house. She felt bad for lying to Erza, but she had to, to keep their secret.
Actually, Mira didn't want to lie to everyone anymore. She was starting to get tired of keeping this up. But she told herself that she'll continue to do this as long as Natsu wanted to. She just had to wait for a few more months, and they can finally tell everyone they're together.
'I'm sorry Erza. But we promise we'll tell everyone as soon as we can' Mira left her parting thoughts and proceeded to get herself ready.
Erza looked back at Mira's scurrying form, saying "Why are you lying, Mira?"
Erza trudged along the path to Fairy Hills and got herself ready. At around 7, Jellal picked her up. They had a good time together, but Erza wasn't having as much fun as Jellal because she was bothered by her conversation with Mira. Feeling it was rude to think of someone else while she was spending time with her boyfriend, she pushed those thoughts away for now.
After wishing each other "Good night", Erza went to her room and got herself ready for bed.
Once she lay down, she was busy thinking of her conversation with Mira earlier today.
She remembered when they got back from the training trip where they met the original trio of the now-disbanded Crime Sorciere. After the night they finalized their plans for the Grand Magic Games, Natsu felt different. He talked with Mira more and became so much closer to her.
Even when Erza sometimes teased Natsu provocatively to get a reaction out of him, she was surprised to see him respond to her normally. It was like he didn't like her anymore.
Whenever he and Mira talked with each other, there was a certain spark in the fire dragon slayer's eyes. And worse, the feeling was mutual. But this wasn't what bugged her the most. What disturbed her more is the fact that Natsu belonged to Mira now, not her.
Flashback
The day Natsu and Mira confessed to each other, Erza was just getting back from the balcony of the guild. The wind was getting stronger, and she was getting wet from the blowing rain.
When she got back to the guild, she noticed it was empty. Did they already leave because of the rain? Why didn't anyone go up and tell her?
Not like she could blame them since she didn't tell anyone where she was going in the first place.
When she was about to go down from the second floor, she was surprised to see Mira slap Natsu. She immediately felt the need to hide her presence to observe the two of them. As she was watching them, she didn't know why, but she didn't like where this was going. Wanting to respect their privacy, she stealthily tried to exit the guild, when suddenly, she heard-
"I'm always thinking about you, and when I do, my heart starts pounding. I feel all antsy, my head gets foggy, and before I even notice it, you're all I'm aware of. Whenever you smile, I feel so happy that I feel like I could get hurt and not feel a thing. I feel like shouting my love for you to the whole world. I know this is too sudden, but I know that I'm not mistaken this time, I really do love you!"
She stopped dead in her tracks, her eyes as wide as saucers. She couldn't believe it. Did she just hear that right? She hesitantly looked behind her after a while, turning around just in time to see them kissing.
Her world was shattered. By the time she knew it, she was already tearing up. She finally knew why she was so affected by this. She ran out of the guild in a rush, Natsu and Mira too caught up in their own world to notice her.
She ran through the rain.
She didn't want to believe it at first, always telling herself that what Natsu and Mira felt for each other was friendship at first. Even though everyone could see that they liked each other as plain as day, she was the only one who refused to see it.
She was so conflicted with her feelings for Natsu and Jellal. Up until she was conscious of Natsu's feelings for her, the only person she saw that way was Jellal.
But when Natsu told her what he felt for her, she started to feel different around him. At first, she told herself it was because she was just feeling conscious of him. But after she realized that Jellal didn't want her tied down to a fugitive, she realized that maybe they just weren't meant to be. She decided to finally accept that Natsu was the one who will always be there for her.
Slowly, she didn't even need to convince herself anymore that she liked Natsu since she already did. She went up to the balcony to give herself some time to think of how she was gonna return Natsu's feelings. Seeing Natsu and Mira get closer with each other lately, she feared that they might like each other, and she was afraid that she might be too late.
While she was on the balcony, she was thinking of the perfect plan to return Natsu's feelings. She finally came to a decision. She was gonna confess to Natsu like he did back then, and they were gonna fulfill their promise to each other. She was ready to take that step forward.
She was planning to give herself more time to prepare. She thought no one was gonna take Natsu from her. Oh, how she was gravely mistaken.
When she the two of them kiss, she just witnessed her worst nightmare before her eyes and couldn't take it anymore. She was filled with negative thoughts. Didn't he say he'll wait for her for as long as it takes? Why is he doing this to her?
Maybe it was her fault for not realizing it sooner, but this was too cruel. Was she destined to be alone forever?
From sadness came anger. She was angry at herself. Why couldn't she accept the fact that she couldn't be with Jellal sooner? Why couldn't she accept Natsu sooner? Why didn't she realize that Natsu was the one she loved earlier? Why was she always so selfish? Why?!
Overwhelmed by her negative thoughts, her legs gave out. She was sitting on her knees on the ground, crying.
She was so pathetic right now, but she didn't care. She just lost her only chance with Natsu. She could do nothing now but deal with the consequences.
In the following days, she did a good job of hiding her feelings, acting as she usually did, but no one knew any better on what was really going on with her.
She may have looked fine on the outside, but she felt so empty on the inside. Even when Kyouka was torturing her, the bottled-up pain of the man she loved being in the hands of another made everything less painful.
Eventually, Jellal was finally able to be with her. But even after she was already with Jellal, the man who took her heart back then, her mind still drifted to Natsu at times.
She was happy with Jellal, but a part of her never let Natsu go.
Flashback End
Whenever someone talked about how perfect Natsu and Mira was for each other, Erza felt a pang in her chest. Why did he forget about her just like that? Did she do something to make him move on?
Up to this day, she still thinks about Natsu even though she already has Jellal. What was wrong with her?
That's why she makes the effort to devote herself to Jellal. She didn't want to feel this way anymore. She didn't want to be like this. She was gonna make Jellal feel loved just as he is doing his best for her.
She was broken out of her thoughts when she heard some noises coming out her window.
"Whaaa- I got another bad one!" Natsu shouted.
"You're really unlucky, Natsu-san." Wendy commented from the seat across him.
"You don't have to remind me!" Natsu fake shouted.
He was playing the reality-simulating board game with Wendy, Happy and Carla. He was playing with Wendy to cheer her up.
Seeing them all laugh with each other at another bad roll Natsu made, Erza was smiling at the heartwarming scene in front of her.
It was when Natsu did things like this that she found it harder and harder to let go of him.
"Natsu…"
With Mira
After Natsu finished playing with Wendy and successfully cheered her up, they all parted their ways, muttering a "good night" to each other. Wendy and Carla went up to their rooms, Natsu dropped Happy off with Elfman and Lisanna, and then he went home.
He was excited what Mira had in store for him. He wondered what her surprise was.
When he arrived in front of his house, his heart was throbbing in anticipation.
When he entered his house, it looked exactly like how he left it when he was moving Happy's things earlier.
'Maybe she's not yet here? No, but she told me to head straight home after…'
Hearing a clatter in his room, he smelled Mira's scent.
'Is she trying to hide from me?' Natsu knew Mira was aware that it was useless to hide from him because of his enhanced senses.
When he arrived at his room, he expected to see Mira. But all he saw when he entered was skimpy lingerie like the ones he saw Lucy use, on the floor. "Mira!" Natsu shouted, thinking that something bad might've happened to her.
Sensing a presence behind him, he was tackled and pinned to the bed (let's just say that a part of his "renovations" earlier was adding a bed to his house).
"Yes?" She said from her position on top of him. She was holding his wrists in place. What caught Natsu's attention was that she was naked.
"You couldn't even wait for me to freshen up?" He asked teasingly.
"It's your fault for keeping me waiting," Mira answered back playfully "Hold still, I want to try something."
"Sure." Once Mira let go of Natsu's wrist, she snaked her way down his body and started pulling his pants down. Seeing what she was doing, he also proceeded to take off his jacket (he was wearing a long-sleeved jacket today).
She gripped his dick wither her cold hand, making him gasp "Didn't I tell you to hold still?"
Natsu threw his jacket to the floor and lay down, not moving this time.
"Good, I'll give you your reward now."
Mira started sucking his dick, using her tongue to make it even more stimulating.
"Agh! Mira…" He grunted in pleasure, taking a hold of her head to make her go deeper.
"Mmmph…" Mira was taken by surprise, but recovered quickly, motivated to give him one of the best blowjobs ever. Her hand was busy pleasuring herself. She was starting to feel wet. She didn't know a man's dick could taste so good.
Pushing his cock down her throat deeper, she suppressed her gag reflex, determined to make him feel better.
"Urk! It feels so good" Natsu's dick was being ensnared by her throat.
Because of the sensation of his dick being constricted by her mouth-pussy, he came quickly.
"Mira!" He shouted while holding her head in place.
"Mrmmm…" Mira was having difficulty drinking his cum considering he had so much.
After he let go of her head, she pulled her mouth out of his wiener.
"That was mean, Natsu!" She scolded him for pushing her head down like that.
"Sorry Mira, I couldn't control myself." He apologized.
Mira let it go, and placed herself on top of her pink-haired lover. Lowering herself down to his level, she was moaning as she slowly slid herself in.
"Aaaahh! Natsu!" She started to move her hips up and down, Natsu following her rhythm. He groped her soft, juicy mounds while they were doing this.
After a while, he couldn't resist her snowy globes and sat up to suck on them, hugging Mira tightly to deepen himself.
"Aahhnn!" Mira moaned in delight. Whenever Natsu sucked her breasts, she always felt like she was about to lose her mind. His mouth was so warm, and he was an expert at using his tongue to stimulate her.
After he got tired of this position, he stood up and continued to fuck Mira on the wall. She wrapped her legs around his waist with her arms gripping his neck. Natsu placed his hands on her legs and moved his mouth to her neck. He was sucking it like a vampire drinking blood.
Just like last time, they spent the whole night fucking each other, trying out every single position they could think of.
"NATSUUU!"
"MIRAAAA!"
Once they had their umpteenth climax for the night, they collapsed in each other's arms.
It looks like they found themselves a new favorite thing to do.
I'm bad at lemon scenes, it's really not for me.
I might as well also say how much I dislike NaLu. I get that almost everyone is fine with it, but I'm not. What can I do? In the first place, if Lucy wasn't the heroine, there is no compatibility between them at all. Hell, Lucy was the most recent girl to enter Natsu's life, and yet he's the one Natsu loves (even if it's not explicitly shown or stated, it's painfully obvious and judging from Mashima's Twitter posts, it's 100% confirmed already). He's spent more time with the likes of Erza, Mira and Lisanna and yet I find it hard to believe he was able to become closer to Lucy over the girls who's been with him since they were children. Mashima is obsessed with sticking to the cliche male and female mc ending up together troupe that he has completely abandoned all the possibilities and potential for Natsu. NaLu has singlehandedly destroyed every semblance of love and admiration I can have for this failing work. Even until now, Natsu steals the spotlight for his few glorious seconds and then immediately gets overshadowed by the greatness of another character like Erza, Laxus, Jellal, or even Happy (funny how Natsu is so disrespected by the creator even his cat gets more action from the girls than him). I really can't put up with this rubbish anymore since I know Mashima will not change all the things I hate for the world. I'm honestly thinking of dropping 100 Years Quest already. The only reason I'm keeping this stain on my manga bookmarks is because I'm always hoping something will change and improve. But nothing, nothing is happening. I'm sick of this misplaced hope I have for Mashima. As of today, it's over, I'm freeing myself from this curse.
BTW, Granvia is a place in this android game called "Unison League". It used to be my favorite gacha game, but after spending two years playing it without getting the hat accessory I wanted, I gave up. I was wasting time there out of misplaced optimism. Dunno why I'm saying this, lol.
I know I'm a spiteful and hateful guy since I get that a lot (mostly online, 'cause I don't have a life), and I'm pathetic for wallowing in self-pity and always complaining without actually doing anything, but this is my personality. I'm sure you've never met a guy as annoying as I'm being, but I would like you guys to at least understand I want to be honest about everything that goes through my mind. I've suffered all this time because I bottled up my feelings, knowing that I would get judged and looked down on by others. This is a good platform to vent it all out since no one knows who I really am, so I'll take this golden opportunity.
I'm sorry for always making you listen to my rants, but that's just the kind of person I am. I hope you guys can learn to overlook these flaws of mine and keep reading my story. I want to share my ideal reality on how I want FT to actually go. It's fine if you guys abandon this story, fed up with me already, but for those who will stay behind and keep humoring me, I sincerely offer you my deepest gratitude. No one in my life has ever accepted this part of me yet (which is understandable), and I don't know what the future holds, but what I do know is that since writing this story, I've felt a bit lighter since I was finally able to express my pent-up feelings.
Please do your best not to be as miserable as me. I'm wishing for the best for you guys!
