If anyone else has something to say about FT, you can speak up in the reviews or PM me. I want to hear other people's opinion as much as possible. I wanna be less toxic towards FT because always having it on my mind to write this fic also makes me think of every single thing I hate about it, you see, so maybe someone can offer me a fresh perspective. If you have an account here, I would prefer it if you would voice out your most honest, most straightforward, no-shitting, opinion to me using by private messaging me. For those who doesn't know how to do it, just press my name on top of the title, and in my profile, there should be a PM button.
Who know, you just might share most of my opinions. So if you need someone to talk to about it just to vent it out, you know where to go. Not like I'm expecting anyone to still be hung-up on FT. After all, it ended a year ago, and the follow-up manga isn't really that great (seriously, nothing has changed).
If you hadn't kept up yet with the 100 Years Quest sequel, and don't like a mild spoiler of some events there, skip after you see this part:

Chapter 4: Love is Blooming
The next morning, Natsu arrived unexpectedly early at the guild, surprising the ones who usually came early. Natsu would typically arrive at the guild around the late morning or the early afternoon. The reason for his punctuality was because he wanted to spend more time with Mira. To his disappointment, Mira and her siblings seemed to be running late.
He was broken out of his thoughts by two of his friends.
"Natsuuuu! Why didn't you come back for me last night." Happy complained, Lucy trailing behind him. He fell asleep waiting for Natsu to come pick him up. He woke up expecting to be at their house, thinking maybe it just took longer for Natsu and Mira to clean up, and Natsu would just carry him home. Disappointed, he woke up this morning, still at Lucy's house.
"Yeah, I stayed up late last night waiting for you to pick him up, but you never came." Lucy groaned, putting her hands on her hips in a scolding manner.
"My bad, my bad, I totally forgot. It took quite a while for us to finish cleaning up last night, so I guess it kind of slipped my mind on the way home. Sorry about that." Natsu said, rubbing the back of his head apologetically, smiling awkwardly. If you paid really close attention, you could see a slight blush on his face.
Lucy looked at Natsu suspiciously, but decided to let him go.
"Well, it doesn't matter anymore. Just make sure to bring Happy with you whenever you go home next time, idiot." Lucy muttered the last part coldly before walking away.
"Wha-, I said I was sorry!" Natsu defended himself.
She wasn't exactly sure why she was mad.
It's not that she was mad at Natsu for forgetting Happy because she knew he was only helping her out. She was angry at the fact that she stayed up all night waiting for him to come, but he never did. She somehow felt neglected. Maybe it was because they used to hang out all the time before Natsu become closer with Mira that she easily felt this way, but she felt uneasy knowing that he was alone with Mira for the whole night.
'Huh? Why am I so angry?' Not feeling like racking her brains for answers so early in the day, she looked for Levy to engage in more lighthearted chatter.
The truth was actually more embarrassing.
After their kiss the previous night, they were somehow able to compose themselves and they resumed cleaning, talking to each other while doing so to pass the time.
After they were done, they locked up the guild and headed on their way home, Natsu held the umbrella for the two of them.
Feeling bold, Mira held Natsu's hand on their way back, causing him to get flustered. Her cheeks lit up as well, the two of them imitating a lovestruck couple.
Since it was raining, they barely passed by anyone. Noticing the lack of people, and the position they were in, Mira suddenly thought of something interesting and dragged Natsu to an alley, pinning him on the wall. Surprisingly, Natsu was able to hold his grip on the umbrella despite her sudden action.
"Mira, what are you doing?" Natsu asked, slightly uncomfortable at the position they were in, especially since Mira had a mischievous smile on her face. It's not that he didn't like what Mira was doing, it was more like he was feeling embarrassed in case anyone saw them like this.
'What's she thinking?'
"Natsu, I have an idea." Mira said, her smile still plastered on her face. It looks like she thought of something good.
"What is it?"
"I was thinking… What if we kept our relationship a secret from the guild until someone finds out?"
.
.
.
"Huh?" Natsu was speechless. What did she mean? Did she not want to be his girlfriend after all?
Luckily for him, Mira read his mind flawlessly. Being with him almost all the time these past few weeks, she understood how his mind goes better than anyone else.
"It's not because of what you're thinking. I just thought that maybe it will be more fun this way. The excitement at the prospect of almost being caught, don't you feel the same way sometimes?"
Natsu developed a habit of playing pranks on his guildmates over the years. It was what made him so fun and childish, and played a huge part in giving everyone the impression that Natsu was a goofball.
He honestly enjoyed it not because he wanted to hurt his guildmates, but because it was in his nature to play around like that.
Now that he thought about it, maybe there was something else that pushed him to do those things. When Mira proposed her idea to Natsu, he kind of understood what she was saying. It was kinda fun to think about whether or not he will be caught when he pulled his pranks.
"You're onto something there." Natsu said smugly.
"See? I knew you would understand. We were meant to be together after all!" Mira exclaimed cheerfully, hugging Natsu tightly.
Natsu was gushing at her cuteness.
After they agreed to keep their relationship secret, Natsu proceeded to drop her off at her house.
Before Mira entered her home, she gave Natsu another kiss, making it swift but sweet. She went home unusually giddier than usual, making her siblings wonder what got into her.
And because of that kiss, Natsu's mind melted so he went straight home, thinking happily about the events of the day, forgetting Happy in the process.
"Where's Mira? I want to have some fish already." Happy grumbled about not having his breakfast yet.
Overhearing Happy, Kinana took up his order since she was already here.
"Mira's not yet here, but I can go get it for you instead." She said before going to the kitchen to get Happy's fish.
While Happy was waiting for her to come back with his fish, he decided to tease Natsu.
"So, Natsu, did anything happen with you and Mira last night?" he said provocatively.
Natsu was surprised for a moment, thinking that they had been exposed so early after deciding to keep their relationship a secret, but he realized that Happy was just teasing him like he usually does.
Gathering himself, he responded in a way so as to not arouse suspicion.
"What do you mean? We cleaned the guild, then I walked her home." He said going for the oblivious-fool response.
"I should've known better than to expect something from you." Happy said glumly, earning him a tick mark on Natsu's head and a "Hey!"
"Here you go, Happy." Kinana said, placing Happy's order in front of him.
While Happy was busy chewing down on his breakfast, a certain Ice-Make mage arrived at the guild and approached the dragon slayer. Natsu was unsettled by the weird smile he was sporting on his face, this spelled trouble.
"What do you want, stripper?" He asked in the usual hostile tone he used against Gray. But Gray ignored him and the next words that came out of his mouth got Natsu's heart to stop for a second.
"Yo, Natsu, where's your girlfriend?" He was still grinning provocatively, really enjoying taunting Natsu.
Natsu was wondering if Gray actually knew something. He didn't know if Gray was just teasing him like Happy, but he decided to test the waters.
"What the hell do you mean?" Natsu made the first move and tried looking like he really didn't know what Gray was talking about. But this wasn't enough to throw Gray off.
"Don't play stupid with me. I saw you guys yesterday on your way home."
Natsu started to sweat bullets. No, maybe Gray was just trying to lure him into confessing when he didn't actually know anything. Knowing how much Gray liked to push his buttons, it was possible.
It wasn't like seeing them walk home together was the problem, it's what they were doing. If Gray really saw them, it would be almost impossible to diffuse the situation.
Oh, how misplaced his optimism was.
"Who? Me and Happy? Isn't that normal?" he tried playing it off. Now, Gray knew he was just trying to fool him.
"Don't be an idiot. You were the one who said you were gonna stay behind to walk Mira home" Gray spat, already aware that Natsu was trying to smoothly play it off. Well, not this time.
"Guhhh…" Natsu made a weird sound, not having anything to say back. Not having any words to say, he said something stupid in a desperate attempt to salvage the situation. Oh, how he hoped Happy was still focused on eating his food.
"Well, I picked Happy up after." He lied, even knowing there was a high chance it wouldn't work.
"No, you didn't." Happy interjected.
Gray and Natsu suddenly looked at each other awkwardly, the air between them so silent the chatter of the guild louder than it usually was.
"Gaaaaahhhhh!" Natsu shouted while he donned a funny, shocked expression.
"I knew it!" Gray said in a victorious smile.
"What are you guys talking about?" Happy asked, only hearing the last part.
Gray' smirk widened. Oh, this was gonna be fun.
"Listen to this, yesterday, I saw Natsu-" Before he could finish his sentence, Natsu quickly punched him with enough force to knock him out cold for a few moments, before dragging Gray's limp body to the back of the guild.
"What the heck was that?" Happy asked to one in particular.
With Natsu and Gray…
Natsu threw Gray on the ground, waiting for him to come back to his sense before speaking to him.
Once Gray regained consciousness, he lunged at Natsu.
"What the hell was that for, you bastard!" he shouted, grabbing the cloth of Natsu's one-sleeved jacket (or vest, I don't know under what category of clothing it's classified in).
"It's because you can't keep your mouth shut!" Natsu retorted.
"Why? Are you keeping it a secret or something?" Gray said in response, not knowing he hit bull's eye.
"Uhhh…" Natsu stuttered awkwardly.
"Don't tell me you are?" Gray probed further.
"Look, it was Mira's idea. I just got caught up in it."
"But why? Don't you guys want everyone to know that you're finally together?"
"Huh, 'finally'? What do you mean?" Natsu asked, perplexed at Gray's choice of words.
Gray could only look at him, his face clearly showing that he's calling Natsu an idiot right now.
"You've got to be kidding me. It's obvious to everyone you guys like each other. With the way you've been acting lately, I'm surprised you weren't dating already."
"Was it really that obvious I liked her?" Natsu asked, blushing.
" Yeah, flame brain. Sheesh, can you be any more dense? This is one of the reasons why you're not more popular with girls. I honestly don't know how it even worked out between you two." Gray said smugly, seeming to forget that he was in a similar situation with Juvia.
"You're one to talk! You can't even properly deal with Juvia's feelings for you." Natsu shouted, pointing out the fact that Gray was just as indecisive as him when it comes to answering the feelings of someone.
"Don't bring her into this. You asking for a fight, hot head?" They started butting heads again.
"What are you gonna do about it, icicle dick?"
And with that, they clashed again, like they usually do.
Back at the Guild…
While Natsu and Gray were busy fighting in the back of the guild, the Strauss siblings finally arrived.
"Sorry I'm late guys. I overslept." Mira apologized to the other barmaids, quickly heading to the bar to prepare herself to attend to her duties.
"It's ok, Mira. It wasn't that busy this morning" Kinana responded, serving Macao and Wakaba their beers.
"Seriously, Nee-chan, what's gotten into you? You never oversleep." Elfman asked. In all the years the Strauss siblings were at the guild, they never came to the guild late. Even during Mira's years known as "The Demon", she made it a point to be punctual to set a good example for her younger siblings.
"I'm sorry, you two. I couldn't sleep well last night, so I had a hard time getting up this morning."
She was actually awake until after midnight because she was thinking of the events of that day and her boyfriend. She was embarrassed to admit it, but she stayed up all night fantasizing about her new love life with Natsu, and she forgot to mind the time.
"Well, I figured it was because of something like that." Lisanna said.
"What do you mean?" Mira asked.
"Well, you were so hyper when you got home that I'm not really surprised if you were too excited to sleep."
"Was I really? I didn't notice." She said. She didn't realize that she was acting differently from usual after she came home.
"Why were you so happy anyway? Don't tell me something happened while you were alone with Natsu?" Lisanna said with a teasing smile, making Mira blush. This seemed to answer her question.
The younger Strauss smiled at how flustered her sister was. Sometimes, she was so easy to read.
"So what happened yesterday? I promise I won't tell anyone." She continued to tease Mira, speaking to her in a low voice so no one else will hear them. Some time during the middle of their conversation, Elfman left to do his own thing and they both moved themselves to the bar, Mira already taking her spot behind the counter while Lisanna sat in one of the seats in front.
"Nothing happened! Natsu just helped me clean up, and then he dropped me off right after." Mira squeaked out, still a bit flustered at Lisanna's teasing.
"Oh really? I could've swore something happened to make you so happy." Lisanna closed in a little bit more.
"Nothing! Nothing did!" Mira was so easily teased when it came to Natsu that she was doing a bad job of hiding their relationship.
Seeing that Mira was acting so out of it, Lisanna decided to let her go.
"Alright, I believe you. Anyway, it's almost lunchtime so it's gonna get busier for you guys. See you later, Mira-nee." Lisanna said with a spring in her step.
Lately, Lisanna has been acting chirpier than she usually was. Well, Mira heard she met a guy outside the guild who shares similar interests as her, but Mira didn't know if their relationship extended the realms of friendship.
Although right now, all Mira could think about was how she was so easy to lose her composure around questions regarding her and Natsu, and how keeping their relationship a secret was harder than she thought it would be.
As the saying goes, "It's easier said than done."
Natsu and Gray walked in, looking all beat-up. This got some members of the guild to look at them curiously.
Mira rushed over to Natsu's side, worried about her boyfriend.
"What happened to you two?" She asked out of concern.
Seeing Mira's distraught face, Natsu quickly quelled her worries.
"This is nothing. We just 'sparred' against each other as usual" Natsu said, talking about his usual fight with Gray.
This response made Mira scold Natsu and Gray about how they shouldn't be fighting with each other so much since they were friends.
From the second floor of the guild, Erza was watching this scene unfold. She had her eyes set on the pink-haired dragon slayer and the platinum beauty. In fact, she's been watching them from the very start since Natsu arrived at the guild.
Without realizing it, she scrunched her face and held the railing of the second floor tighter when she saw how Mira held Natsu's hand to take him to the infirmary, Gray following suit.
Irritated, she left her spot in the second floor.
In the infirmary, she took care of Natsu while Gray patched himself up. She looked so worried although it was already a routine for Natsu and Gray to get into fights like this that it was like she wasn't even trying to hide their relationship.
"Geez, why do you have to keep your relationship a secret from everyone? It's pretty obvious to everyone you like each other." Gray couldn't help but comment.
Before Mira could speak up to deny it, Natsu placed one hand on her shoulder and told her that Gray already found out.
"It's alright, Gray saw us already. Apparently, we weren't alone while we were walking home yesterday." Natsu explained.
Mira looked at Gray for confirmation, and he nodded.
Mira put her head down in disappointment, sad that their plan to keep it a secret didn't even last for a single day.
"But I told him to still keep it a secret." Natsu smiled at Mira.
Mira looked up at him.
"But why? Didn't we agree to tell everyone once someone finds out?"
"Nah, it's just Gray." Gray reacted loudly, saying "Hey!"
"Besides, when I was thinking about it last night, I realized it's actually kind of fun to keep everyone in the dark a little longer, so Gray and I made a deal to keep this secret."
"Deal? What deal?" She asked.
"Well, in exchange for helping Gray move forward with his relationship with Juvia, he agreed to shut his mouth about the two of us."
"Then, I'm glad..." Mira said, happy that she could continue this fun a bit longer. "But next time, if someone finds out about us, we really will tell everyone, ok?"
"Sure!" Natsu cheerfully responded.
Now that they resolved that, she moved her head to look at Gray.
"But wait-Why would you have trouble telling Juvia how you feel? Don't tell me you still didn't know that she likes you?!" Mira exclaimed in shock.
"It's not that, I already know she likes me. I just want her to like me normally." Gray said coolly, rubbing the back of his neck while averting his gaze from them.
Hearing that, Mira's matchmaking side woke up.
In the blink of an eye, she was in front of Gray with stars in her eyes.
"So does this mean you like her too?" Mira asked eagerly. It seems she really did want Gray and Juvia to be a couple.
"Yeah, I guess." Gray answered awkwardly, still acting cool.
"Then leave it to me. When it comes to putting two people together, there is no one better than me." Mira announced excitedly.
Gray and Natsu muttered the same thing: "Why are you so excited?"
(Let's skip to the far future to get the actual romance parts going)
After that day, many things happened. First, they had to deal with the Celestial Spirits going out of control. After that, they dealt with Tartaros and parted ways. Mira wanted to come with Natsu and Happy, but they left without even consulting her first.
Mira was slightly heartbroken, but she was comforted by the note Natsu left behind especially for her, telling her he wanted to bring her with them but he couldn't because being around her will distract him from his training. He also said that he will come back to her first as soon as he finishes his training. She was sad, but nevertheless moved on with her siblings, patiently waiting for the day Natsu comes back to her.
After they won the war against Zeref and Acnologia, the members of Crime Sorciere were pardoned by the Kingdom of Fiore (I think Hisui had the reigns in this one, I'm not sure exactly anymore who gave the order).
While there was no real progress between Erza and Jellal's relationship yet, the others were able to take a step forward with theirs.
Natsu and Mira decided to keep their relationship a secret after all this time, and Gray finally decided to accept Juvia's feelings. Mira was able to successfully teach Juvia to be less passionate in showing her love, something Gray was thankful for. She was still a bit clingy, but she's actually pretty mellow now compared to a year ago.
And then, Team Natsu takes the 100 Years Quest. A lot happened-Lucy got Aquarius back, Natsu became the new Fire God Dragon after beating his foster brother Ignia, they beat the White Mage, and they get Ultear back from the rift in time, all of which not possible if it weren't for Natsu.
Elefseria granted them all one wish each, as promised. In a shocking turn of events, he told them he could actually bring back those who are lost (dead). But he said he can grant any wish in exchange for his life. When they heard this, of course they all had doubts, but he revealed that his original form was already dead, and he was now just the living embodiment of his desire to seal the 5 Dragon Gods. In his ethereal form, he can grant any wish in exchange for his own life.
He convinced them by saying that he has already lived long enough waiting for them to complete his mission, and now he finally wanted to rest his soul in peace and be with the ones he cared about when he was still human.
Hesitantly, they all started to voice out their wishes.
Lucy wished for Aquarius back.
Wendy wished for Irene to come back to life, knowing what she did for her. Irene was still somehow connected to Wendy's spirit, and she's been guiding Wendy this whole time to keep her alive during their quest.
Gray wished for Ul back. He didn't want to bring his father back because he knew his father already made peace with his death and is happier with his mother in the afterlife, something Lucy also thought of.
Surprising everyone, Natsu was the one who wished for Ultear back from the rift in time, saying how she was a huge help not only in the Alvarez War, but also when he was suspended in a state of limbo during one of the fights he had in the 100 years quest (I can totally see a bad guy like that popping out).
Erza wished for true love, something the others found odd considering she's-well, Erza.
After they finally completed this grand quest, everything started to go well.
Gildarts started to be more responsible and stayed at the guild more to be with Cana. He decided to accept the title of guild master from Master Makarov as an excuse to stay at the guild more often. Both Laxus and Erza were passed off as candidates, not really wanting to contend with their ace. However, a lot of people were still opposed to this, but they kept it to themselves. After all, Gildarts wasn't exactly guild master-material, but Makarov seemed to place his confidence in the man.
A month after being promoted to guild master, the people who doubted Gildarts finally accepted him. Gildarts only really needed a sense of stability and order to get his act together, and being guild master was the perfect way to do just that.
Jellal finally decided to stop punishing himself and confessed his love to Erza. Erza was happy that her wish was granted (or so she thought). She kept waiting and waiting for the boy that saved her from the tower when they were kids, and now, it was actually within her reach already.
The members of Crime Sorciere split ways, and now the others were off forging their own path in life.
Cobra was already dating Kinana.
Hoteye went on to be with his brother, Wally.
Angel joined the entertainment industry mainly as a model.
Midnight indulged himself in his books god knows where.
Racer strived to improve himself, joining races and competing in events to challenge himself.
Ul finally reunited with her daughter. She lived with Ultear and Meredy as grandmother, mother and daughter, all three of them joining Fairy Tail. Ul was happy that she had another member in her family, but she was not pleased that she became considered a grandma so early.
And now that Crime Sorceire was no more, Jellal also joined Fairy Tail to be with Erza more often.
After all the obstacles they faced, Fairy Tail finally achieved peace. Almost everyone already moved forward with their relationships. They got new, powerful members to keep their place as the best guild in Ishgar. Everything was finally perfect.
And now at the guild, everyone was partying with their loved ones.
Shockingly, after all this time, Natsu and Mira still kept their relationship a secret since no one found out yet. It's not like they planned to keep it that way forever, so they promised themselves that if no one finds out about them another year from now, they would announce it to the guild themselves. And as usual, Natsu and Mira were together at the bar, happily talking to each other.
Jellal and Erza were seated next to each other, talking with the other members of the guild. Erza was happy that she could finally share moments like these with Jellal, but when she looked at Natsu and Mira:
Something didn't feel right.
I have a reason for making things this way, I think. Some things are different from the manga, but it made more sense to me this way. And I write to express that.
I know their relationship being a secret is kinda overused, since I know a lot of NaMi fics that have those, but I felt like this was more interesting. This way, the dynamic between Natsu, Erza, and Mira's future relationship will be more interesting. Don't get the wrong idea though, this is not gonna be one of those fics where Erza and Mira share Natsu and even do some yuri stuff to each other, oh hell no! I dislike yuri/yaoi. I prefer a normal girl-boy relationship. If it's forbidden love we're talking about, incest ranks no.1 on my list, and next being age difference romances.
What I meant was that in the future chapters, when Erza starts to understand her feelings for Natsu, it will be more interesting to see how it will pan out, considering the fact that she didn't know Natsu already had a girlfriend.
I also do a lot of cliché scenes, like Happy with his fish, but I don't really have a good imagination. This is the best I can do with a story. I told you didn't I, don't expect me to write this well. I also have a feeling it's getting worse and worse. TBH, I'm running out of fresh ideas.
And lastly, am I the only one who hated how Irene (Erza's mother) was killed off just like that? There was so much potential with keeping her around. I could honestly see her being the teasing mother type to Erza after that. Her life sucked-she was betrayed by her own husband, then she became crazy and died so violently just like that. Mashima has this habit of killing off these characters he doesn't feel like writing anymore, or he doesn't know what to do with them. Sure, Mira and Makarov could come back to life, eventhough Makarov's death was supposed to be this life-changing moment for the members of the guild, especially Erza. So why was he brought back eventhough it made no sense at all, when guys like Simon, Silver, Ul, Irene, and Ultear (I know she's not really dead, but with the current state she's in, she might as well be) didn't?
I heard that in one of Mashima's interviews with Barnes & Noble, he said something along the lines of bringing back those guys because he didn't want to kill off characters, and the ones who actually die serve a purpose for the development of the other characters, and also because a lot of characters died in Rave Master, which turned out to be a sad story. FT was still kinda sad tho. So what was the use?
So Makarov's death didn't serve a purpose? And what the heck did Ultear's death do? (it's not like the ones who cared about her like Merudy and Jellal appear much anyway, and when they did, what the heck changed?)
And yet he kills the ones with wasted potential. It's clear he doesn't have the resolve to push through with them, so he always takes the easy way out.
Again, let's be clear, I'm not attacking Mashima personally, just his way of writing Fairy Tail. I can already see the comments of "You're just jealous he was able to make something people enjoyed" or "You're so toxic, get over yourself". I don't mind that, go ahead. What I'm trying to do with my (annoying) rants is to fish out people who can understand where I'm coming from and realize that it's not bad to think that way, and that they should have the guts to speak about it without fear of being judged.
Seriously tho, I wish a doujinshi where my ideal version comes to life exist. I wanna read it, I'll pay any amount for it. Heck, I'll work my ass off for it. It'll be good reference in case I decide to push through with writing. Right now, I'm in the testing phase, and eventhough I'm very insecure and not confident about my skills, it's because I'm still getting used to it. This hobby might actually lead to something if I continue this. Maybe it will take me years and years to make a decent story, but that's only natural.
