PROLOGUE

The first bell goes off— a hustle of students collapsing throughout the high school corridors to reach their particular classes on time.

Each teacher adapted to the role of their individual subjects to be taught.

While, away from the chaos, he stands clasping the hands of his lover at the rooftop, presumably bunking their schedule,

"Believe me, I do really love you."

"So do I…"

"Can we promise each other?"

"Promise??"

"To be together…forever."

He curled his pinky, outstretching it towards who he believed to be his soulmate, "Promise?"

"Promise," he beheld the curled finger and bent his own, to try to tie them into their solitary lovelock.

The day then abruptly dimmed away.

***

He is stupefied, staring at the deceased being of his twin flame— distorted.

The darkness swarmed in on him as if a whirlpool, the silence became deafening.

He is gone…

The inferno is engulfing every bit of their paradise, along with the memories they weaved together. The blaring chaos of roaring ambulance sirens, the hassle of residents, concludes both of them in an overwhelming deafness; one alive, another coalescing in the dust.

"You- you broke o- our promise, you liar!!" He stands staring, frozen at his spot— the traitor's finger yet then curled, as if trying to hold on to the promises that had not been kept.

"I can never fall in love again, just because of you!!"

***

"NOÉ!!" His heart thudded beneath, when he jolted awake— his arm instinctively reaching for the glass of water placed on the nightstand beside him.

After gulping down the entire glass of cold water, he huffed, the nightmarish dawn looming around him.

"Noé, this is not the end!!" His eyes transitioned to be bloodshot, "I still have not found your killers. And I will never give up, until I have!!"

The sunrays keep seeping into the wide dull pastel hued room, molesting the man, when he is busy preparing himself to be faced with another agonising, another loveless day of his life,

"Noé, I know that you failed to keep our promise. But I will never," he digs his claws into the office visiting card— the reason which keeps reminding him why he is still alive, "I will get to the bottom of it, I promise you!" He states vehemently.

The card read,
